Which ones look better in my bag though? The ansers with KBS are very, very nice! I love how the short irons are small.

Why does everone make this about money? If you can afford it then it ain't about the money. If you can't afford them don't buy them but don't crtisize people that have the money to spend and buy them.

Thanks guys, have a set of 800 pros/kbs new in the box sitting in the corner as well. Should be a great shootout here this spring.

Looks great so exactly what setups are you testing?

All three are setup with kbs tour in stiff, and I am standard all the way which helps in finding clubs. Got great deals on all three sets. Now for the weatheR to cooperate here in ND.

Awesome irons!!!!!I especially love the S56's,even though i've never swung a Ping iron-I think that i might have to give them a try when the weather gets better.

I hit both Ansers& S56s. Both great looking and different visually ,at least to me from past Pings ,and yes even the 56s vs 57,58,59s. Frankly wasn,t looking for irons but bought a set of 56s here and although only lots of range time in ,really really like most everything about them and they are indeed forgiving for it's player classification in deference to Malby calling them GI.
The Ansers were very nice and if I didn,t have a good set if i5s and fairly new Tour CB2s I might of taken a longer look at them. I did rationalize the 56s but also favor thier feel over the much lighter feeling Ansers. I just felt more club in my hands with the 56sand definitely preffered thier trajectory but both sets are excellent but indeed different.

Ok guys...........

Has anybody played / tried these with s300s?
How would they compare with the AP2s in terms of Size / Playability / Distance / Forgiveness??

I finally hit them today and was blown away and that was with PX Shafts which I HATE!! They only had the 6 iron so I wasn't able to get a true sense of the entire set though.

I've hit them with S300's. I'm more of a Project X guy, but these felt good.
I play Mizuno's now so obviously these feel different, but good.
I've also played AP2. Not a huge fan, but they are good irons that alot of people like.
The anser heads feel lighter than the AP2 or my Mizuno's. Top line is probably a bit thicker, but not by much. Soles are a bit wider.
I think the Ansers are a bit more forgiving from what i was able to tell

I second that thought...Just ordered Ping Anser Forged with AWT regular shafts. I currently play the I15...Can you tell me if they are as forgiving as the I15??

I've played both and honestly find them very forgiving. Both feel like GI clubs to me.

Let us know how you like these. I use I15's with AWT Reg shafts as well. Would like to know what you think of them.

I'm quite happy with my I15's why would I look at other irons? Ho'ing is a sickness. But it makes me happy. crazy.gif

Pulled the trigger a few months ago...Ping Anser Forged Irons
Won a small claims verdict and decided to use it to splurge on some new sticks. As many here know, I've been playing Ping ISI BeCu's since '96. Always loved them, but with age my strength, swing and the rest of it changed a bit. I looked and looked and tried and tried some more but could never find a set of irons I felt with. After much research and soul searching, I found Ping's new Anser Forged Irons. Forged in China, assembled in the US, but only sold in Japan (supposed to be released in limited quantities in the US in November or early 2011).
I got fitted professionally and sent the specs to Tourspecgolf in Japan. 3/4 inch longer than standard, Nippon lightweight R's, upright 1.3 degrees.
First day out, couldn't hit a shot. Wanted to kill myself or take up bowling. Went to the range with tears in my eyes to work things out...CABOOOOM! Got my swing adjusted to the new look, feel and set up and went to town. These sticks are terrific. Soft forged feel that I was used to from the BeCu's, nice classic set up at address, topside just a little thicker than the ISI's, but in no way a shovel look. It's a forged cavity back with a sort of muscle back look and feel that reflects a finesse andenergy to them. Also, none of that multi-colored, souped up design on the caddy side of the club head like the G10's and G15's...very clean and classic.
The pre-fitting was essential for the investment I made and worked out well. These are really different Ping's. The design is structured for nice feedback, that I like and the ball stops every bit as well as the old groves delivered on the ISI's. For those who don't cotton to Ping products, this model could really change your mind. In fact, I see the Japanese divisions of TaylorMade and Cobra also came out with similar forged design
