I was flipping through Ping's Website and got to the classic's page. Now I'm interested.


Anybody have any favourites? Some just look ridiculous and I'm getting tempted to get one.

I've used the O-Blade and really like it, but I would love an original Anser 2 in beryllium copper. It's a shame the "EPA" made Ping stop producing BeCu golf clubs. Yeah, the EPA. :drinks: Riiiiigggghhhttt...

 

Not enough people really know why the government halted the production of beryllium copper golf clubs. I'll leave it at that.

I have the ping My day putter. I love it. It is basically the putter that cameron copied for the laguna model.

I have an "L-Blade" in my back-up bag. It's a sentimental club for me...it belonged to my Grandfather before he passed away. It certainly doesn't roll the ball as well as my Suzuka but is a great putter nonetheless.

Just wondering what you think of the Scottsdale Anser so far. If I was going for the practical route, that'd be what I'd order.

My old standby is this N'ECHO putter, but mine is much darker and has several love marks. I still use it when my Newport or Odyssey don't treat me right. I have had it longer than I remember, and will never let it go.

Here's my Ping Anser 2; haven't ever found anything better.

I used to use a B60 but the newer versions aren't the same as they were from like 1998 or earlier.

I have a black steel Ping Pal 2 in the corner that I will throw in the bag every so often.

Just put this in the bag, it sets up nicely-clean lines. Ironically the BeCu feels harder then the milled Camerons but it has a certain sound on better hit putts. I have a a Pal 4 BeCu also in the closet.

No pictures, but I've got two old Ping putters - an Anser and Eye 2. Once in a while

I'll take the Anser out for some air, but its been close to a decade since the Eye 2

has seen a green.

I'm using a Anser 3 in the dark antiqued finish. A 029 that I picked up for $40. I also use a stainless Anser 4. Have no plans to change.

my Zing2 BeCu, tried alot of others, but this one fits my stroke better than anything else I have tried.

I am a HUGE fan of the old school Pings. You can't really go wrong with them at all, and are some of the best deals to be had in the used market. Here's a picture of some of my Pings. I've added since then, with the most notables being the BeCu Scottsdale remake, BeCu Zing2, and Becu Anser 4. Obviously, I've gravitated toward the BeCu models, but am still somewhat selective in what I pick up (still need a B-60).

I still have my old Anser, the second putter I ever bought. I put it back in the bag recently (albeit with a lot of lead tape on the sole) and am putting much better. My best-ever putting rounds have been with this putter and go back to it when I'm not putting well for whatever reason.

Hello all. This is my first post here. Love to see a forum full of golf enthusiasts. :man_in_love:

 

I have a Dalehead that occasionally makes its way into my bag as well as an old 020 Ping Zing (w/black label). I am currently putting with a Cameron Inspired by Brad Faxon but may be going back to an 8802 style blade (Designed by Arnold Palmer, and original but rechromed).

Played N-Blade, Anser, Anser 3, and Anser 2 over years. Actually have a Zing G5i in there now.

 

My all time back-up that I return to is the Scottsdale Reproduction that came out for the Anser anniversary back in 1996.

 

I also managed to snag a few 35th anniversary models in 1994 and keep them hidden away. They still have headcovers, head socks, hang tags, and holograms. Make a great PING sound. Basically a face balanced A-Blade - the one that started it all!!

One day I plan to be like Beruo (my hero :man_in_love: ) and pick up some more classics on Ebay!!

Wow Scott...you sure must love that style! I've got the original version of that putter in my collection. You're right, it makes a really nice "pingggg" sound when you hit it.

 

I've got a ton of Pings and 8802/ Arnold Palmer style putters in my collection too.

My boss has an original ping that actually makes the ping sound when you putt with it...he was actually in the pro shop when karsten came around pro shop to pro shop selling his stuff...and now look where ping is at! he has a lot of those very expensive ping putters at home it is pretty cool

Whats with the inflated prices on eBay for Ping putters?

 

One Ping Anser 3 just went for £59 UK had a zip code ending 028, never heard of 028 before only 020 and 029.

 

Anyone shed any light on that?

The pictures show my Dalehead Anser. The Anser was refinished by Ping back in 2001 and they almost ruined it by sand blasting the putter instead of the tumbled finish I had requested. I sent the Anser to Bobby Grace and he did a great job in attempting to restore the putter to original specifications. He tumbled the putter and the finish is much better. He reshafted the putter to original shaft specs (he had a line of his own special edition Ansers in the 90s).

Awesome collections 'sida. If it weren't for the Zing G5i that's currently polluting your bag, I would say that your Ping collection surpassed my own by a good measure. But you get a significant deduction for that . . . perhaps the only step down to be made from the STX. :crazy:

 

It is too bad that you only have 10 of those 35th anniversary Pings--one more and you would have been my hero (though you could change that if you reduced your collection to nine ;) ).

 

I've been wanting an Anser 4 for a while now...

 

Anser 4 is a VERY good way to go in my mind. Very much an overlooked option, overshadowed by the Scottsdale and the Anser 2. Even the Zing 2 seems to get more looks. Anser 4's often go somewhat cheap on the 'bay, so there's no time like the present. :fool:

I have a bronze "My Day" and newer B-61. They are outstanding putters and I rotate them in play just for a change not to "punish" the putter. There must be something to Ping designs since Cameron and others copy Ping designs.

Ping has always been my favorite.

Scott, that is the biggest collection of 35th anniversary i have seen!!

I have been collecting a few pings here and there!!
