WHOA! Nunchuk is the REAL DEAL

GoTime

Recommended Posts

Played a round yesterday with the nunchuk/R11 setup. Hit 2 more fairways than I usually do and my average driving distance was way up. Hit a couple drives in the 290 range which is about 15 yards longer than my normal shot. My carry distance was about the same on a medium trajectory but I was getting a ton of roll..... This thing is crazy low spin.

Only problem I had was I was almost too long.... Left myself alot of 80-100 yard approach shots.....I really don't have a club that goes 100 yards.

Im pasting my review from my local site to give you a view from someone whos played 10 rounds :

Another round in the bag and another imposing driving result. 12/13 fairways and all FOUR par 5's in 2. the 478 Par 5 dogleg 12th at Woodbine, took the most aggressive line off the tee I could - knowing that I would be straight and true. Well, my second shot was 110Y. ONE HUNDRED TEN!. This shaft is ridiculous, I just have to share the picture of this drive to show you how much confidence you can have when you know what a driver is going to do off the tee:

screenshot20110817at359.jpg

Then at the last, Par 5 18th - Bam again 250 in the middle. 209 to the flag all carry over water, or use the layup left. So I'm feeling cocky and I pull a 3H - middle of the green!

It certainly does feel odd still compared to my FWY and HY shafts, and it really does like the 11* of loft (thanks to the 910D2 I could switch it when i want) and teeing the ball high.

Now I know the secret, it's stupidly automatic.

I''m thinking of getting the 3W or Hybrid next!

What program are you using?

It's Google Earth.

I may have missed it but has anyone tried this shaft in a G15 driver head? What were your results like?

i have this in a 910D2 and its pretty good mid flight slight draw with plenty of roll. not to sure if it longer than my superfast 2.0 TP with a harrison saga. i am playing the D2 at 44" which is 0.5" shorter than the superfast. only thing is think i should have gone to to 44.5".

i am thinking i might just chop the shaft down and stick it in my 910 fairway or mp titanium 3 wood.

i have another 2 shafts and am thinking i might stick the shaft in a i15 or maybe a G20.

has anyone tried this in a i15 or superfast 2.0 TP or even a g20?

Played yesterday with it. great experience. Low-mid flight, and looong. Didn't really pay attention to actual numbers save for one hole. 18th fairway has a bunker dead in the middle, 291 to carry. I aimed just right of the bunker expecting some fade. Nope. Pulled it a tinge and plop, giant visible splash about 1 foot from carrying the bunker, so pretty much 290 carry and the bunker was uphill. Small down slope after the bunker would have given me 320+ drive had I gotten over the lip. Still very impressed and pleased with my purchase.

Great shaft. Have one in my CB4 driver and the thing is a beast. Also threw one in my CB4 hybrid recently and plan on throwing one in my 3 wood as well.

Is there a place to get these for a good price? Don't understand how people can just "throw" a 200+ dollar shaft int o3 clubs. My whole bag is worth around 600 bucks on the used market.

Well, I WAS extremely happy with my 910D2 10.5* which I purchased after getting fitted and played in the states, and intended to keep as my 'gamer' for at least 3-4 years, but a ho will find any excuse... russian_roulette.gif

I move to Puerto Rico and the nice high balls I was hitting with the D2 in calm conditions are now ballooning in the strong winds that are a fact of life every day at my new home course, even with the lowest loft available on the 910's hosel. Into the wind I almost hit 3 wood further than driver because I can't keep the driver down. Fairways here are very firm and fast.

I'm looking to buy a Nunchuk and there seem to be a lot floating around with TM hosel adapters. Anyone have a good recommendation for a lower launch, lower spin head that will blast the ball under the wind? Maybe R9 420 9* or 10* Superdeep?

Thanks for sharing!

Using it in G15. 44in, 10.5, Lamkin grips SW down to D1 or so. Lovin it as it's really changed my game.

did you have to add weight to the head to get to d1 swingweight. i just bought a g20 today and am going to stick a nunchuk in it on friday when i back home (work travel arragh!)

stuck my shaft from 910D into a 910F fairway, granted shaft is at 44" so have to grip down 1.5". have to say very impressive in the fairway. going to go for 44.75" or 44.5" in the g20 prob 44.75" so i can coke down it a little, might even clock it open a bit although it seems to sit very square to open. clapping.gif

I'm looking forward to trying this shaft. I won the facebook giveaway and am supposed to get it Friday. My goal is to put it in Friday and use it Saturday and Sunday. Do I just tell the person putting the shaft in I want a FINISHED length of 44.5 inches? Want to make sure I tell them the right thing. I'll give my impressions after a few days with it.

At 44" and the Ping G15 head weight at 203 grams brings it to about d2. I added heavy Lamkins (59g) as more counter balancing and got it down to around d1. This length and SW is perfect for my swing.

Small review! cheerful.png

Well I put my nunchuk together today once I woke up. I have an R11 head. I used some quick epoxy where it says it is cured at like 90 min. but I waited about 7 hours, long wait, before I attached it and hit it. The first couple balls were a mini slice. Not much though but more than just a fade. I look at the contact spot on the face after each hit and both of these were right in the center. The great thing about the R11 and all the other adjustable clubs is that you can mess and configure them. I know you all know that here though, haha. I switched up the weights with a ten in the toe and a 1 in the heel. I know they should go the other way but I seem to slice when the heavier weights are in the heel and hook when the heavier weights are in the toe. Anyways, 1g in the heel, 10 in the toe and I hit maybe four balls. All were just perfectly straight. I couldn't believe it. The contact spot on the driver head was just as good. Dead center each time. I had the head set at 10.5 which is the standard setting. I moved it to 9.5 and the drives seemed even better. Dead straight! I hit probably 10 balls in a row and have never been able to be consistent enough where 5/10 were in the center of the clubface. This had all ten!!! I even moved it up a degree to 11.5 and it still looked good, a little high but straight!! I dont know what its like to play in the middle of the fairway! Unfortunatly i wasn't able to get to a course to rate the distance and wont be able to play until maybe sunday night/monday. Honestly, if i'm able to hit fairways the distance won't be a big deal if its a little shorter. However, i feel since its center contact it will be just as good or better.

So far i'm impressed and a believer! I'm drinking the kool-aid!

Note: BBcode and smileys are still usable.

Not sure what you mean? I use an R9 but it has an R11 tip.

Edit* forgot I had another today that was about 330 measured.

Driver with Nunchuk shaft, plus Shotmaker inside it, and backweighted with tourlock pro ! The mother of all Driver setup :drinks:
[/quote]

Not possible. The Shotmaker will not fit a Nunchuck as the bore is different than most standard shafts. Cool idea though!

have this now in my 910f at d2 and i a mega impressed. have also in a g20 10.5 and i15 11deg.

what i dd notice and after reading 90 plus pages on another forum by the designer plus some experimentation is that swing weight and your swing style is extremely important. i found that at 44.75" and d2 swingweight is the best performance for me. also you have to resist trying to "hit" at this shaft once you groove it your away. what i have found is that out of the screws its not much longer than anything else i have hit. what i have found is that this thing is seriously consistent i mean scarily, miss hits go straight no matter where hit plus the distance loss is certainly significantly less extreme than any other shaft i have tested. also into the wind this is where the shaft really excels, i found little distance loss in anything but the most extreme conditions. there is no balloning with this shaft! really bad shots are still bad but poor shots and not as heavily penalised.

ref best head i have found that a deepfaced head worked best for me. the i15 is marginally better than the g20 for me. the g20 is longer and marginally more forgiving but can be a little erratic for me. think its prob cause i like a open face and the g20 sits dead square. i have hit some real bombs with g20 but i feel like the i15 i can control the flight a bit better. the g20 i just worry about hitting a raking hook with it as i hit it with a3-5 yard draw whereas the i15 is just laser straight

I got a new nunchuck on Friday and played one tournament round on saturday. First i was afraid to used it the first time, didnt have a range time with it because i was just 5 mins early on my tee time. anyway 1st hole par 4 389 yards, i missed it right a little fade (my natural shot is baby draw) and i was just trying to easy swing because dont want to missed the fw on the 1st hole but i hit the fw and roll outside the fw. I par the hole and have about 125 approch. Ok now 2nd hole 525 dog left perfect on my natural draw, this time no easy swing and split the fw and went straight, i am still not quite happy because i was trying to draw it but i smoke it and i have 235 left and hit my 3 hybrid short but birdie the hole. hole #4 short par 4 349 just straight, i told myself wth i need more swing on this driver, so i used the driver again and hit a baby fade again in the fw and approach 75 yards and par the hole. I used the driver on every tee except par 3 and the title of this tread is exactly spot on "Nunchuck is the real deal". i did not hit my natural baby draw until the back nine, i have one where i lost the ball left, slice on me big time because i was really trying to hit it so hard because the hole was the longest drive contest hole. My missed usually always on the left side (hook), my friends told me that "we been playing for a long time but that is the first time i see you slice the ball". So overall my first time using the shaft w/o any range session this is a keeper. First i thought it felt heavy, i dont think i lost distance, i think i gain a little because my ball trahectory is mid and i get more roll. I just bought a shotmaker but i think the shotmaker is going in the garage for now.

If anyone selling another Nunchuck i need another one because i am planning to put it on my 3 wood and 3 hybrid. By the way the driver is Tour Issue SFTP 8.5 one serial.

Great reviews! Do I understand correctly that I wouldn't be able to use this with a bore-thru head design? I have a Titleist 905R. On their site it specifically says to not tip trim this shaft.
[/quote]

Not sure but if the Tip fit the hosel it should be ok but i notice the Tip shaft feel a little ticker.
