Ugh.

Finally got a chance to have this installed - and it split.

Took it to a Master Club Builder, watched the entire process - and it appeared that he followed directions to a T. Sent Mark and Company an email through the website asking what my options are.

Playing tomorrow, and bummed out.
What incredible customer service...

Just 29 minutes after sending Mark an email, he responds - letting me know a new grip will be sent out on Monday.

Hell, even if I don't end up being a fan of the grip, I'm a huge fan of the company and their service. Top notch people.

Same exact thing happened to me. Amazing customer service for me as well. I really want to get another putter just to put another one of these grips on. I think I have a problem.
Curious, how many wraps before the bottom of the grip was stable? There was still a lot of room between the inside of the grip and the shaft.

Really really wish I had seen this thread before I finished my first restoration!

They're work with Betti and Peritti might just get them their... The video has me looking hard at those Low Tides too...
Low Tide are the putters I was stroking at the Harbour Town GC when I posted a few weeks back.
Great putters and the Salty Grip is a perfect fit.

After reading the unanimous positive regard for these grips, I had to try one. After giving it a try, I can say - beyond reservation - that this grip is not for me.

The packaging and quality of the item are fantastic. Installing the grip was easy and had no issues at all.

Once on the putter, I knew pretty much immediately that it was not for me. First off, it is a very slick grip. I sanded it a bit using 100 grit paper and it helped, but it was still has much less tact that any other grip I'd ever tried. It is not a hard grip, but it is not soft either. The combination of being slick and unresponsive to touch never allowed me to get comfortable gripping it. I could not get used to the size and shape either - it is slightly smaller than a SuperStroke 2.0 (1.2" vs 1.15"). I LOVE the 2.0, but just could not get used to the Salty.

In summary - very well made product. Very impressive quality. I would like to like the grip, but I just could not get comfortable with it.

 • 2 weeks later...

Ordered a Salty grip this week and received it today. Super impressed with the quality, just feels and looks fantastic. I see the benefit of the larger constant diameter design but SS grips are so ugly I could never have one on my Byron putter. The Salty looks amazing.

I had to build up my shaft with tape quite a bit as it has multiple tapers under the grip...I think I have a total of 5 wraps at the lowest section and only one plus the double sided at the upper section (which was .58 to start with). Install went well in the end but there was a point where I was afraid it was stuck. I had to push really really hard....but I finally got it all the way on. Following the directions for tape buildup makes for a tight fit but that is probably a good thing.

I've only rolled some practice putts on my indoor mat so far but I'm liking it. Great feel and sunk my first three in a row which is always a good sign. I've been playing either a large Iomic or a Premio so this is a big change. We'll see how it works on the course and how my distance control is. Should be able to get out with it this afternoon or tomorrow.

Very interesting! Suprised no one thought of using cork before...I'm a wine buff and I also have cork floors in my finished basement. Cork is "self-healing" which makes it great for kitchen and basement floors that you'd drop things on and make dents. I imagine it would be great for putter grip too. It's another great way to get a new life on old putters i.e. old Pings with 290g heads, it would make them the same swingweight as newer styles. My only concern would be (being up here in Seattle) that they'll get slicker than snot in the rain.

I just got an email from Mark informing me that they just got the Oversize Salty in from Portugal. They had been put of stock.

So if you were looking for the oversize (larger) grip, your ship just came in.

I recently put the mid sized Salty on my SC Button Back NP2 and I like the way it carpet putts.. And I like the way it feels.

Had my first day outside with the Salty finally. Really happy with results so far. I had serious distance control issues the one time I tried SuperStroke' bit even tough my midsize Salty is al out the same size as the SS 2.0 I tried my distance control was great with the Salty. No idea why that is, maybe the feel difference with cork or maybe just a different day, but the Salty performed today. diggin it so far.

Can't say I've rolled the salty.

But, I've seen and tried the Cork grip from Bobby Grace- same specs as the ss2.0, but a bit lighter.

Does bobby Grace use Salty? Bettinardi does through their site...

Yes. If you look at the Grace cork grip, just below the name there is a "Salty grips" logo.

Well... I caved to the pressure. I've had great success with the SS Mid 2.0... so I went with the Mid+ to put on the Yes! Holly.

I've been experimenting with the the Flatso Mid but so far it just hasn't worked out as well as the Mid 2.0. Missing to the right because I'm not releasing it as much. The Flatso would be better if I used a plumber's neck.

I'm very excited about the Salty... wow do I have some issues!

Question... has anyone successfully pulled a Salty intact? How did you do it? Air?

Can't imagine you can safely pull a Salty, I think you'll break it trying no matter how you do it. Air isn't going to work, they don't stretch, they'll crack. Great grip though, doubt you'll want to pull it.
