How did you sweet talk your wife or break the news that you need, want or bought a rangefinder? I can't seem to convince her that it is needed! lol

Buy it -hide it- wrap it like she would- put a tag on it from her. Better yet when she is writing out tags steal one so then it is in her hand writing. Then open it xmas. Say honey this is the best gift ever! Done pretty easy to me.

Actually its not. Neither of us like to spend money because we're trying to get out of student loan debt and save for a house. We currently put so much into savings and invest the rest...outside of living expenses. You need to keep any woman in check that buys a $1,500 dollar purse! Communication in any marriage is essential. She doesn't hide anything from me nor do I hide anything from here. I'm sorry for all the "manly" men out there who wear their pants to high or tight...it was just a simple question for an honest man to answer. And im also sorry for your wife's.

I guess the crux of it is the difference between need and want- and your agreement to work on student debt and house savings together. So I guess maybe for you (everyone's situation is different) perhaps you might write down the need vs want reasons and if strong enough, try to convince her from those reasons.

Easy for me to say- my want vs need for golf stuff gets blurred. I've got another club on order than even for [b]me [/b]is probably in the want area- but so far she's been fairly understanding. But- we are older, no kids and no debts.

Sounds like you took what I said too seriously. Anyway, I applaud both of you for paying off your college loans and saving.. too many exploit the help, then blow off paying it back, and still do not save; sad lot. No need to feel sorry for my "only" wife. I hope when your my age, you can say the same. I didn't marry till late in my 40's. She's given more then most can imagine, and both of us shop without needing to ask permission. Partly because both of us have successful careers.
