Historically with other brands, PGA Tour players playing the more forgiving driver heads is pretty commonplace. Take Ping players choosing the G15 or G20 over the i15 and i20 or TaylorMade staffers using the SuperTri over the Superdeep. About the only exception is that players used the 910 D3 as much if not more than the 910 D2.

Probably has something to do with playing for millions of dollars; even though they are the best golfers in the world they want to know that theres still a little forgiveness in their driver coming down the back 9 on Sunday so if they get tight and make a bad swing at the ball they will be in the second cut, not O.B..

[/quote]Yea he should, UNLESS any big sponsorship deal has been snagged in the process.. The bag that he will be using for the first 6 actually looks (straps, pocket placement etc.) a lot like a Nike Staff Bag.

I've never used Nike equipment before and am not likely to in the future. I don't dislike their product at all it's just not something I have considered in the past.

I am however intrigued by how this year plays out for Nike. If Rory has a year like last year or better, I can see Nike sales going through the roof.

If he has a so-so year (which by his current standard would mean no major victory) then I can see a lot of people blaming the equipment change, and by extension Nike. Not that I think Nike makes poor equipment but I can see commentators questioning the wisdom of an equipment change when you're at the height of your powers. He certainly wouldn't be the first player to lose form after changing brands.

That Is a very good point to make here. So many players on tour have such great swing mechanics that it is very possible that with the wrong combo they become Too low spin.

For the masses with a descending blow or an over the the top move it become better to find a combo with a shaft and a loft to help minimize bad spin.

Other then that point, lets be real honest for a minute and realize that what he had before was probably analyzed to with .01 of everything and duplicated by NIKE, the biggest thing will be adjusting the the ball

There's already an incredible amount of buzz that has been generated. Mission 1 - accomplished. Plus Rory is too good of a player to have a quite year. Hopefully he doesn't get too distracted with off-field shenanigans.

Well i guess im Bold enough to make a strong statement. We all forget just because he wins tournaments that he lied to our faces, so to me not a fan anymore. And I Really like Rory, and was hoping he would really set himself apart from everyone else in the world to be the #1 Golfer and #1 Good face for the tour. Maybe that makes me closed minded but this forum is for voicing how we think and feel correct?

I personally believe Nike is the best in the world at promoting the whole package of what an athlete can be...Tiger became huge and if you look at some of the commercials he has starred in, there is a level being achieved there which I don't see being achieved by any other companies. Rory has all of that to look forward to, and there will be no hint of a shadow cast over him.
