Did the Covert Tour not make the early cut or did you not like the 3 wood or something else? Seems like with the success you had with the LTD's they would be at least in the discussion. On the other hand, there are so many good options out there this year that it's tough/expensive to give them all a fair shake down.

BTW Tai, I'm putting my money on the 913's. I'm thinking the 3 wood is going to end up being the X-factor when it's all said and done.
I kind of think that he will go with the RFX, being able to play an 8.5 driver vs 7.5 is a big factor. I agree though that the 3 wood is the X factor.
the RFX flights the ball so nicely. very penetrating flight.... that is the advantage as you mentioned to the 913. you can achieve the same flight - but are required to go down in loft - which is not conducive to straight.

honestly can't go wrong with either set...
From what I have seen so far, I like the RFE better in the driver. The 3 wood was getting better #'s than the 913 FD, but on course the FD is no joke. I'm hoping the RFE is a big surprise in the 3 wood. I use 3 wood a lot off the tee, so it is very important that it works well for me.

I have hit the Covert Tour on the course as well a few times. It's very good, I just don't have the $ to test them out as well, and realistically, I just can't get past the red. I have been hitting the TM stuff simply because I had a V2 head to try out and I got a good deal on the RBZ 2. The RBZ 2 is so good that I can look past how ugly it is. BUT, as things progressed, it's not that much better if at all than more traditional looking heads I have been hitting. If you're a TM fan, the RBZ 2 fairway is seriously good.

Seriously though when one driver is red and the other is black and they preform about the same, it's hard to pick the red one over the black one. At least for me....

Pure...I got the RFE in the 5 wood with a Motore Speeder VC 8.1x in at a 41.5 inches and it is filthy long. Have easily got it over 250 a couple of times of the tee for me and that is long for a 5 wood. Playability wise, took it out of a fairway bunker on Saturday, easily 230, and no issues elevating out of the sand. Love the feel. Got the XHP in the 3 wood fwiw.

Just test drove the RFE driver on Saturday with the Kyoshi White 75X and that combo is quite impressive...too cold to get a good read on it, but solid strikes are really out there, and the miss hits are all in play. Forgiving head for sure.

That 5 wood sounds nasty. In a nutshell, how would you compare the XHP and RFE drivers and 3 woods? I already like the RFE driver better than the XHP in every category, I just need to verify distances and playability on the course. 3 wood is still TBD.

Not going to lie, I could live with either driver..the XHP and RFE sound different, but not in any way bad, tingy, etc. I like the sound of the XHP with the Motore 6.2 TSx in it..powerful but not loud to me(Coming off a TM RBZ Tour 9*..which I thought was middle of the road noise wise). Going to do more testing in them both with the Motore 6.2 and Kiyoshi).
I think the drivers are about a long as each other, but I hit some bombs with the RFE in 45* weather vs the day before with the XHP in 70* weather(last drive with the XHP was around 295). Longest with the RFE about the same next day..so the lower spin head may give it an edge in the summer! Launch with both(9.5 in each) was about the same for me with the different shafts.

3 woods is nasty in each, same overall design in the fw's with the speed frame face...just the forged cup face is a touch hotter in the XHP I believe, about the same size 145cc-150cc..so size is great, with mid face height. Quicker softer feel off the XHP, with a more SOLID powerful feel off the RFE, but I don't think as hot overall, but not much behind the XHP at all. In all honesty, I could play either..both are beasts in all categories. I have hit the RFE 5 wood really well so far..and the XHP 3 wood is just filthy long period with control and easy to hit from anywhere.

My nutshelll...is still too long !!

LOL!!

I completely agree, with the fact that this shootout is trending more towards looks/feel/on course performance I could see how the CT might not be even one of the better options available. I just figured I would ask to confirm. In the traditional looks department the 913s are a huge improvement over last year (ball speed and spin rates) for me and the RFX are no slouch either. I usually test clubs backwards, on the course first and then take them to the launch monitor and confirm what I am seeing and make sure there are no surprises. The way Pure is going about this is very smart.

Pure, which head is deeper the RFT or the X hot pro for the 3 woods? I've had issues in the past with callaway 3 woods off the tee due to shallow faces. Seems like the FD low spin would be the best off the tee of the 3 still in the race.

@ Dscvrr St Louis - Thanks for the reply! Seems like the 3 woods should be a close battle. The XHP driver just doesn't have the feel and feedback of the RFE for me at impact. I am pretty indifferent regarding the XHP feel off the driver, the results are definitely there. I have found it to be very low launching and low spinning with great roll out with the TS 7.2. The RFE seems to launch a touch higher with very low spin as well.. The Trackman gives better #'s to the XHP by a nose, but I am very excited to see how the RFE does on the course. Thanks for the feedback, you guys on the #CallaWRX did a great job and are definitely part of the reason I am trying these clubs! :drinks:

@JJK947 - I think that the "looks/feel/on course performance" is what matters the most at the end of the day. There have been some really great releases this year with a LOT of hype surrounding them, so I definitely wanted to test them all. I will take some face on pictures of the fairways later today.

This is good for me to hear. I am not constrained by OCD, so I can mix my driver and 3 wood; in fact, I prefer that they not match. I have an RFE coming, hopefully soon and went with the XHP 3 wood. Seems like I may be getting the best of both worlds.

Thanks for kind words Pure! We all hit EVERYTHING that Callaway was putting out in 2013 and it all ROCKS for it's respective skill set. IF people will give Callie a chance this year, most won't only be suprised..they will buy. The two drivers are killer( FWIW..my XHP is locked in with the MS Tour Spec 6.2 TS x, and the RFE is outstandingly solid with the Kiyoshi White 75(x) cut down to 45 inches, and the XHP was also really solid with the KW also..though I couldn't dial in the sw like the RFE..got the TA Weight kit for it.) but the fairway woods of both models shine to no end..both are exceptional feeling and looking...and long!

Are the XHP and RFX fairway woods the same size and depth? They look really close, XHP maybe just a tad deeper.

The RFX has a more pear shape, and appears a tiny bit smaller (could be the paint jobs) and the face of the XHP is barely taller, they are very close in size.

Not sure yet. I haven't got the RFE on the course yet, but definitely excited to do so. I have hit it on the Trackman outdoor and also indoor on a Foresight - it feels and sounds incredible and numbers are solid, but we'll see. You're right on with the snow.... We got another SNOW-NAMI yesterday.

I'll also agree 100% on the "feel" of the all Ti head of the XH driver vs. the RFE. The RFE feel so much better, but I have been "sticking it out" with the XH driver for the last 4 or 5 trips to the simulator, and it's grown on me (probably due to forgetting just how awesome the RFE feels).

I think for the first in many years, I will be flip-flopping drivers weekly or monthly this season (IF WINTER EVER ENDS)... High temps of like 17* the next couple of days... This is not right.

Sorry to "side track" this thread, but

Leif- I have a little ugly pile of lead tape on the sole of my XHot driver ... The SW pretty light (or felt like it anyway). I only ordered it -1/2" (same length as my RFE)

Lots of tinkering going on Pure.. I'm excited to see what wins out in the fairways...

Pure, great test. The RFX is a great driver and looks drop dead sexy on the tee. Doesn't get better then that. Feel is solid and muted with a solid thwack at contact. Doc (Dr. Alan Hocknell) did a GREAT job on this driver. As soon as I hit it at the ECPC I was in love. Now the XHP was a solid performer but I got lower spin with the RFX so in it went. Fairways, the XHP's are superstars. I remember playing at Lacosta and because I got the wrong shaft in my driver I had to use my 3 wood most of the round. That turned out to be a good thing as I hit BOMB's with it (and more fairways haha). I couldn't believe how far I was hitting a 3 wood, truly amazing.

Anyway great review, well done brother.
