Because she's not a "traditional" golfer using her golf skills to get ahead. If she didn't have any golf knowledge or skill she'd be just another pretty face with "enhancements" on GC. I'm sorry. I'm a red blooded American man who likes girls. And she's a pretty one, who has the added bonus of being able to kick my butt up and down a golf course. She may not be able to break 70 on the regular, but she can golf her ball. She's no different than those Kardshian girls other than she has an actual skillset to fall back on other than to just look pretty and never had to make a video to get noticed. If that's all she did, then maybe the hate would be warranted. And yes, sex sells. It always has and always will. I for one, am not angry about it.

Her scoring average at Michigan State was 78.47 as a senior. Why would it be hard to assume she's now a 3 or 4?

I am a better golfer thans her ands a better person thans the Kardashian sluts and who is givings me money for that ? I thinks that would be the biggest issue with her. [/color]

[color=#800080]Stacy Lewis type golfers to me is what media shoulds focus on as a female golfer in the world. She dresses respectfully as well. This other one is what media gives undeserved attentions and causes young girls to haves bad body images , eating disorders , etc . I know from experiences. I'm as critical of NBC/GC as I am of Holly and the way she dresses. You can't tune in to MSNBC, NBC & The Weather Channel for 10 minutes without seeing a PSA or news story on how Americans are destroying the earth by the over use of fossil fuels. I get it, we are all too dependent on oil. And GE still owns a chunk of NBC and GE is in the wind turbine business. That's all great but then don't dress Holly up in skin tight clothing, throw her on a NBC owned Lear or Gulf Stream with her golf bag and fly her 800 miles round trip just to play in some regional pro-am every Wednesday. As for Holly and her handicap, she's the first one to tell you she doesn't have anywhere near the game she had in college.

Laura Davies is a better golfer than her also, but she won't be on the cover. The facts of the world are men are more likely to pick up that issue of GD with her on the cover. I don't see anything wrong with the way HS dresses, what she is wearing this morning is no worse than what the female big break contestants have on (as well as many of the LPGA gals). She has a legimate golf background and is on a golf show on the golf channel, GD doesn't seem that much of a stretch.

It does not seems a stretch for me that she is on the cover either. She seems to have been involved in fitness, and taking care of her herself is part of her normal routine. I would go so far as to say she is in quite a bit better shape than most golfers on either tour.

Personally, I think some of the hate comes from where Sonders is and how she got there. For example, you can compare her path to others and question it.[list]

I think a lot of people feel that she gets gigs that other more deserving people should get. My problem with her, regarding this cover, is there are many LPGA players who could have done the article and cover. If they asked all of the LPGA players that were in shape and working out, just like HS by the way, and none of them accepted then I would be ok with HS. However, if one LPGA player would do it, I would rather have someone who actually plays the game on the cover, as opposed to someone who just talks about it. ( on a professional level )

[/quote]Exactly! In fact, with that scoring average from the yardages played in D1 women's golf her handicap would be significantly lower than 3 or 4 from the forward tees at most clubs.

[/quote]Goobers, I like most of your posts but I disagree with you on this one. Holly is a broadcast journalist and does not make her living playing golf. She is relevant in the golf world because she is one of the hosts on the only television network dedicated to the game...Golf Channel. You are entitled to your opinion with regard to her dress and appearance, but Holly clearly does her homework and knows enough about golf to hold her own with any of the other pundits on the network. BTW - I too am a huge Stacy Lewis fan!
