On school of golf she hits great shots consistently and under pressure. She doin something right.

Goober, I agree with you. I have three daughters, one of whom is just learning to play golf, and I would MUCH rather have her emulate Stacy Lewis. Not because Holly isn't well-spoken, or good at what she does, or isn't a good player (because she is all of those things), but because her success depends on how she looks to the degree that she felt compelled to have cosmetic surgery. I agree that it is sad that the message young girls get is that it's more important how you look than what you do. As a father, I wish it weren't so, and that girls were encouraged more to dream of what they can accomplish and less to feel inferior for the way they were born. But we can't blame the media for giving us, as a society, what we want. If it didn't sell, they wouldn't print it. I'll bet Golf Digest sells a whole bunch of magazines, which is exactly what they're built to do. And I'm not sure it's ever been a good idea to let popular culture raise your kids.

So, I don't question GD's right to print what they want, and I don't begrudge Holly whatever success she gets, however she gets it. But it reminds me to tell my daughters that they're beautiful.

Just got the May 13 Golf Digest in the mail. The one with Holly Sonders on the cover.

It was wrapped in plastic. I can't recall this ever being wrapped in plastic. In fact, isn't this a measure generally reserved for Playboy, etc? Maybe the plastic is to protect the photoshopping. But I'm guessing the wife is gonna ask me about it if I leave take this particular one into the bathroom.

Anyone else find this strange?

Real women are not that fit, and that large-breasted at the same time. Mother Nature doesn't work that way.

I think a lot of people feel that she gets gigs that other more deserving people should get. My problem with her, regarding this cover, is there are many LPGA players who could have done the article and cover. If they asked all of the LPGA players that were in shape and working out, just like HS by the way, and none of them accepted then I would be ok with HS. However, if one LPGA player would do it, I would rather have someone who actually plays the game on the cover, as opposed to someone who just talks about it. ( on a professional level )

I think what many are missing is that there is no such thing as "more deserving" in the entertainment business, which Golf Channel and Golf Digest is in, whether anyone wants to admit it or not. Their goal is to sell advertising space/time. One way they accomplish this is by the quality of their golf coverage and the other way is with entertainment. If Holly sells more ads than an LPGA player then who is "more deserving"?

If Golf Channel and Golf Digest was run by the WRXers they would likely lose the casual golf fan (which far outnumbers the die hards) and go out of business.

Lauren Thompson walks all over Holly in looks. I won't go so far as to say Holly isn't good looking, but she ain't close to 10/10, imo.

I agree with others, should've given the cover to Aza or one of the other attractive fit lpga girls, if GD insisted on focusing on looks. Lets face it, most golfers are men, and men are way more attracted to visual qualities than women are.
