For some people new stuff is pretty hard to resist. They buy an RBZ and think it's great, but then the stage 2 gets released and people on message boards say it's 10 yards longer, and the guy can't resist buying it.

I don't understand why people wouldn't want more options, or have 6 month old models discounted. I'd love if i could go out and buy a NIssan 370Z for 25% off 6 months into it's model year

I think people who hate on the cycles, just have low impulse control, or are easily swayed by lies

What's the problem? Too many choices? If it works, buy it. If not, pass. Never buying TaylorMade because the prices drop quickly? Just buy 6 months later - you should love TaylorMade, you can get nearly new equipment for a steep discount. Completely silly premise in this thread.

Totally agree. Numerous upsides and the only downside is for the "must be seen with the absolute latest model" crowd. So sad too bad, can't please 100% of people.

...or take supposed resale value into account when making a golf club buying decision. That's the one that I've always found unintentionally humorous.

The only time you will see Taylormade an some other OEM's stop is when there is only one OEM left. Until then they will all try to out do each other and one up one another. Even then you will see products coming out so they stay in business. Just might slow down a little then.

It's cool by me they are always using R&D to try to improve on clubs and go around USGA limits.

Some of the marketing? Sure I don't agree with it and think it is ridiculous. But then again they aren't exactly trying to appeal to "our" crowd on WRX but the masses. Plus, well it's marketing, it's hype, it is what it is. Every industry has it, Taylormade just happens to be the best at it (or worst depending on your point of view). That being said, I don't buy clubs for resale value. So I see no problem, and am actually a big fan of companies coming out with lots of gear. The more the better I say! Advance the technology and if it works, GREAT, if not, onto something else for me.

YOu must have deep pockets. Golf equipment is expensive enough where if someone wishes to try the latest and greatest most often they better be able to afford it often.

Basically, people buying for all the reasons that are good for the OEM's and generally bad for the consumer...when you believe what they want you to believe, they win.....actually very similar to buying cars...

If you need to have the latest driver from a company, pick one from a company that's gone out of business.

Problem solved with just one purchase.

(Probably better to take more pride in your swing than what you're swinging.)

Great point. I believe you can still find the original Nickent 4DX online.

Well I wouldn't say deep pockets but I definitely have my "ho'ing" fund. I guess the point I was trying to make was it's great to see technology constantly advancing to hopefully make the game better.

To your point though, someone doesn't HAVE to have the latest and greatest. And I guess that is my point with not having a problem with what Taylormade is doing. If that person wants to try and buy the newest gear, then by all means go for it. If something from 3 years ago works better for them, than no reason to switch. I guess I am fortunate in the sense that there are two GREAT local shops (Carl's Golfland and Miles of Golf) that allow you to demo just about anything out there so that probably skews my opinion a bit. I guess I just don't see what the alternative benefit would be? On a PING/Titleist release schedule where they release clubs every 18 or 24 months? Those clubs stay just as expensive throughout their product life cycle. And by Taylormade releasing more gear, maybe it gives the guy who hit the R1 great at the beginning of the year but couldn't afford the $399 price tag, to toss it in his bag now at $249?

I don't know why anyone would buy new Taylor Made equipment. I just saw that they are coming out with another new driver. I think that is 6 new models in the last year. I bought a new TM 3 wood that I paid over $200 for new. Within 2 months they came out with another model. The same with the hybrids!
I will NEVER buy another TM product again!

What is your opinion?
So your RBZ 3W stopped working when they got stage 2 out?
I think the point he is trying to make is that he's not frustrated that he's no longer owning the latest piece of TM equipment, but that buying the new stuff is pointless because the price is gonna plummet within a matter of months when another product come out.

So then don't buy new stuff? Why did he need to make a thread to say that?
