True Temper's new "AMT" Dynamic Gold iron shafts

Recommended Posts

Update: GolfWRX Front Page Story (2/19/15) -- http://www.golfwrx.com/281885/spotted-true-temper-dynamic-gold-amt-shaft/

The new shafts drop down in weight 3 grams from the 3 iron down to where the wedge shaft will be the same weight as the original DG shafts.

The thinking is a player will have a

70+ gram driver shaft

80-90+ gram fairway wood shaft

100+ gram hybrid shaft

and then have his TT DG irons in the 126-130 gram zone. This new shaft has the long irons in the 110 gram zone (don't quote me cuz I could be a little off) which will make them easy to launch a little higher without getting too spinny and then dropping down to where the wedge will be 126-130

Sounds as though it's more to match up to MOI matching to get the dynamic loads to feel consistent across all irons in the swing. This should be a really good thing for those that are into MOI matching when fitting clubs through the set.

I'm sure these will be very popular with club builders if they make it to retail, the lighter weight long irons should make it easier to MOI match and keep the swig weight closer to each other throught the set. I'm really intered in these I think these will be in my irons if they make it to PFC dealers. They only thing I did like about the dg pro was the lighter weight short irons.

Extremely saddened to hear that AMT did not mean Amazing Meat Turnip. They really missed a opportunity to get a trend going with shafts named after vegetables.

Does this need a rewording, or is it just me? Seems to me that the shafts "drop down" in weight 3-4 grams from the PW, which has same weight as old DG PW shaft, to the 3 iron.

These sound great, loved my S400 but they were definitely too heavy in the longer clubs.

Hopefully these aren't crazy pricey as the theory sounds new, not the technology.

How does that affect swing weighting?

Ascending weight shafts allow the builder to achieve Swing weight and Moment of Inertia matching without needing to add/remove head weight and also keep traditional 0.5 inch length increments. All good really.
I see a set of S400s in my future!!!

A little concerned about that Tour Issue label. Will they stay that way and only offer S400 and X100 like the other DG TIs, or are these coming to retail?
[/quote] The other TI's you are referring to are available for custom orders by most if not all major OEM's. When these release, I suspect they will be available in a similar fashion.

I'm not sure what you're saying. DG TIs are easy to get. What I'm wondering is if they'll make them in S300s. Are you saying you can get TI S300s from all major OEMs? I've only seen a few sets, and they were all made for Luke Donald.
