What I have gathered by reading this and the WRX article:
1. TT is saying that this is in no way a flighted set.
2. The idea is that the long irons will launch higher and spin more than a normal DG set, but the shorter clubs will perform the same.
3. Did I just define a flighted set?
4. Can someone please explain this to me like I'm a really smart 12 year old?
Flighted sets have a progressive kick point. The AMT does not.

The launch will not be higher in the longer irons, just a slight bit more spin, which in turn adds to a higher ball flight through lift, not launch.

I feel as though this will be like having a set of DG in S200, S300, and S400 throughout your set, yet to a slightly more exaggerated degree. With the control of wall thickness they can vary the weight difference greater yet retain the same shaft profile.
Thank you. Now I understand. And please, I swear I'm not trying to troll this thread, but isn't that splitting hairs for the definition of "flighted"? Whether you use lift or launch, aren't you ultimately ending up at the same place of "help getting the ball in the air with the longer clubs while controlling the trajectory of the shorter clubs"? Or am I an idiot? There's a strong possibility that I'm an idiot.
When we call a shaft flighted we consider that shaft set to have a wide range of launch conditions through the set, like DG Pro (high in the long irons, mid in mid irons, low in the short irons). Dynamic Gold AMT will have a slightly higher peak trajectory than Dynamic Gold in the long irons but not so different as to consider it a flighted set.

Gotcha. Thanks for being a part of the community and setting me straight!

Different sorting and new label is all I see here. Too bad they have to muck around with a tried and true offering.
They won't get rid of your dynamic gold..
Yes, because I was worried they would get rid of the number one shaft on the PGA Tour...

:russian_roulette:
Then don't worry about any mucking around...

Is anybody on tour playing these yet ?
I believe this was the first tour event that they had the shafts and then only like 6 sets. So it was more of an introduction to the Tour Reps on all the OEM trucks and talking with players about them.

I'm not all that surprised that you think it is. If you want to keep this little exchange going, then how about shifting it to PM? Otherwise, let's drop it and get back to the topic.

I would respectfully disagree with your second paragraph!

If you have more back spin, then potentially you have more height ...unless I missed something in aerodynamics of modern golf balls.
Further if you have a lighter shaft you can impart or transfer more speed or force onto the golf ball, which will result in different launch angles depending on player.

As to a previous member posted on this topic, if tour and better scratch players can flight their balls already with the current shafts that they are using why would they use these new shafts?
However, I do understand that these might be a good option for amateurs and the regular golfing population.

I think I'd certainly would love to test these out. I've always have missed something with the longer irons. That why my set doesn't start until 5 iron. Hopefully we can get some guys testing these.

I did in fact say the ball would achieve a higher apex. With ball flight dynamics, there is Speed, Launch Angle, Spin Rate, Side Spin, Carry Distance, Total Distance, Apex, Angle of Decent, Carry Time...

The True Temper Representative stated that the DG AMT vs DG, would have Slightly More Spin, resulting in a higher ball flight (Apex), not a higher launch angle which would be the flighted DG Pro set.

Why do Any Pros choose to use any other shaft than a DG? Because they think it will help their game. Tiger, DJ and others use DG, but pros that hit the ball mortal distances choose many other options. Dufner PXi, Kuchar Steelfiber, Ryan Moore DGSL. Why, when they can hit ever shot in the book do they choose something different? Options are great! If nobody uses them, they'll stop making them.

These will probably be a success due to the tour issue sticker.

Hi everyone.

Appreciate the discussion on the new Dynamic Gold AMT. Figured I would jump in and give you all a quick update on everyone that's currently put it into play since we introduced at Honda four weeks ago...

Chris Kirk - Honda
David Toms - Honda
Jim Renner - Honda
Scott Piercy (3/4 irons) - Honda
Woody Austin - Valspar
Matt Every - Bay Hill
Brian Davis - Bay Hill

Lot of excitement! We'll keep you all posted as we have more to share. In the meantime, please let me know if you have any questions. All the best.

I'm definitely interested in giving these a try - I like the idea. While not "flighted" per the prior posts, it certainly takes the higher flight in the long irons and lower in the short irons to a different level.
