Kick X golf ball shut down by Feds...

From this link, the FTC has shut down a number of companies that advertise their products with deceptive tactics, including the makers of Kick X Tour and other golf related companies...

The companies marketed their products under various names, including ... Medicus Golf, Kick X Tour Z Golf Balls, Golf Online Academy, Golf Tour Partners, and Purestrike Swing Clinic.

 

According to the complaint, the companies used TV Infomercials, websites, and emails to mislead consumers into believing that the products and services being advertised were free.

 

In reality, the companies charged consumers’ stored credit cards for the products if they did not cancel their “free trials” or return the “free” products in a certain amount of time.

Scumbag companies. Glad to hear all of these dbags got shut down.

I was at the range last week and someone had a GX7 club. I asked him about it. He was older, in his late 60s, said it was 'ok'. It had a big dent in the crown already. I would've asked to hit it, but I was afraid I might crack it with my swing speed (ha, ha...kinda).

So as Bruce Fleischer said in the ads - I guess it was like stealing.

There have been tons of stories about people having issues about cancelling the "free" trial before their credit card gets nailed. Most of those products dont work and they are just out to screw people out of money.

I have seen two of those clubs out in the wild. In NE Ohio, so I really haven't been getting out on the regular of late. It's astounding to me that there really are people who buy these. The frequency it appears to be happening at is frightening.

Agreed, I am right there with you and my jeff gillooly style pipe.

When I see a product like this golf ball on tv it blows my mind. The first thing I wonder is who would put up enough money to produce this product, or even the joke of a commercial - with the clowns they use?

The 2nd question, Well who will buy it?? Bottom line is golf CRAP sells..

honestly, you gotta be a special kind of a****** to understand when there is a dollar to be made off products like this. More less, designed to fail. They target older older people and sucker in some novices along the way. These people could never operate a brick and mortar store. They take your money and run. One hit wonders, literally.

I'm pretty sure as a general rule of scamming people, there is a small window of opportunity to do so, but then people catch on, right? Not with golf products though. . 20 years later the same rebranded magic wedge or driver on TV for the same misleading price. . But the same golfers still take their time to ask me if it's any good. At the end of the day - the CRAP sells. In golf, and in life.

They are the worst. I would never deal with them but you just know people get suckered into their free hybrid or wedge deals

I had a buddy ALL excited that he got a new driver for just the cost of shipping! When we got to the course and he showed me the Warrior club I about slapped him. He hit it twice on the range and realized what he had done.

I would have to say that golfers might be some of THE most gullible people on the planet. With promises of 20+ yards on drives that are laser straight, wedges you can't shank, clubs that are "just as good as the big companies", you'd think that with all of the intelligent people we have that play this game (doctors, lawyers, CEOs and the like), common sense would prevail. I bet you could sell these guys a pair of white gloves and a ketchup popsicle if you promised them extra yards.

Id love to see other sports have crappy infomercials about products that can't even begin to produce the results they claim. A baseball bat that's guaranteed to be an instant HR. Football cleats that will shave off seconds from your 40 yard dash etc. We are a sad bunch of people.

Man, I wish they would go after Warrior Custom Golf too. Every year my Dad has another club from them in his bag. I suspect he is too proud to admit that he'd made a mistake dealing with then in the first place.

I played a very nice course and they were selling this crap. Needless to say I'll never go back. Blows my mind.

I'm just glad the commercials are over.
