Chrome Soft X Diamond with Triple Track

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I got given a couple of these balls by a Callaway guy and was wondering if anyone knew much about them?

From my experience the ball feels exactly the same as the current Chrome Soft X (my gamer), but seems to spin quite a lot more on pitch shots, everything else seems to be the very similar. I love the triple track, I thought it was wouldn't make a difference but the couple of rounds I've used the balls I have 25 and 29 putts which is way better than normal for me.

I'm hoping they aren't a tour only ball but will come to market.

Does anyone know if this is just a standard ChromeSoftX with triple track, or does the diamond signify some sort of difference in characteristics?

That's cool. I wish Callaway got their act together and started releasing different variants of Truvis. Limited productions and personalized up-priced logo'd balls are cool and finding them on ebay are great but, the red / white, green / white, and other standard colors are getting a little tired. Really, it might be the only thing that's keeping me from going back to Truvis.

NOw, those new TP5pix are looking smexy.

Just thought I would share this. I found on Callaway's website that is in fact the same as a regular ChromeSoftX. They had to put the diamond between Chrome and Soft due to the USGA deeming it a different ball since in has the triple track alignment

This... Probably had to give the diamond designation for the conforming ball list. I think this is what Phil has been playing this year and consumers wanted the triple track on a chrome soft X and now it is coming to retail...

Where do you see this on the site? If it were different internally than phil’s ball it would have to have different markings per the usga. So if it has the same markings it must be the same ball. Called Callaway and they said this is the tour version seen played by most players and major difference is higher compression.

The My GS guys said on their live stream that both the TT CSX and the new Stars and Stripes Chrome Soft are completely different balls than their counterparts. They suspect Callaway doesn't want to admit they made the balls firmer as it blows up their millions of dollars invested in marketing to claim soft is better.

It was in the Callaway forums. Someone asked if they were the same as the regular X and someone from Callaway responded saying they were in fact the same as the regular X. Could have been someone posing for all I know.

I would be interested if they would test this.

> I also spoke to 4 people on the phone with callaway saying it is indeed different. Phil’s ball is stamped the same and with usga rules you cant have the stamping the same on different balls. If this ball was different than phil’s it wouldnt be usga conforming per their rules

So you're saying it's the same ball.

I just picked up a dozen of these... who knows if it's the exact same or not as the regular Chrome Soft X. Either way, the YouTube video someone posted in the big ball test thread that debunked the 18 yard discrepency between Chrome Soft X and MTB X

Callaway Epic Speed 4W - Smoke IM10
