For now, I’ll take postpone over cancel and hope we get some “normalcy” by July.

Absolutely no surprise at all. They way things are going, I can see The Open (see what I did there Hawkeye) being knocked back from July as well.

Haha - I just threw that in there because some folks get all agitated if someone says "British Open" even though almost everyone near and far used to call it that.

I've converted for the most part on here out of respect for those on here from your side of the pond! I can evolve. ;-) If I could afford to pack up and live in Scotland 6 months out of the year I'd be there already.

Heck, my English Setter seems to think he's entitled to correct me when I say "British Open" and he was born in bloody Wisconsin! Did someone say dog? These Major Championships are looking less likely to be played. Once the fall arrives, College and NFL football ties up the TV networks.

I think the main issue is the qualifiers, which will need to be played 1-2 months in advance.

Even if the situation is stabilized and is safe for large gathering in June, we are still looking at an August timeframe to play the majors. In essence, it is not just the scheduling of a major, but scheduling of multiple qualifiers.

Still the biggest regret of our trip two summers ago was that circumstances and weather were against us being able to play Moray Old.

Why dont they just cancel the entire season? I mean, its pretty much pointless now. What are they gonna do, try and play 4 majors in October? Just cancel the season and leave the requirements/exemptions that were in place for this season extend to next season, which won't begin (maybe) until the TOC in Hawaii.

Its just a matter of time until MLB calls off the whole season, especially after they reached agreement with the players union the other day with regards to player compensation now that they aren't playing. They'll try to put together some sort of shortened-season schedule, but the media pushback will be so bad that they will have no choice but to cancel.

If you think there will be any football this fall, you're nuts. I thought the NFL was so big and powerful that there was no chance they'd lose the season too, but now I'm firmly convinced there's no chance.

Pro sports are done in 2020. The media controls this country, not elected officials. America will not go back to normal until they see fit. Which will shockingly be probably shortly after election day.

If you really believe that then you need to vote for better leaders. You know, ones who take action and set the tone. Not morons who sit by and do nothing but blame everyone else when THEY ARE THE ONES IN CHARGE.

At this point I think the USGA, R&A, PGA, and Masters are just hoping to get their tournaments played this year, even if it means little or no TV audience.

We might see something like PGA in August. Open early September. US Open late September. Masters in October.

The USGA, PGA of America, and R&A need a TV audience and more importantly, TV revenue from these championships to pay for everything else they do. So the TV schedules are a little more important than you think.

These are enormously important cancellations. Sports tell us that life is normal. Their absence is unsettling.

Sorry it angers you so much, but its the truth. Doesnt matter who is in charge...the media determines a lot of public policy in this country.

All a different elected leader does is change how the media covers it and spins things...no matter your general feelings in the political spectrum. In the end, it's still the media the drives it. Until we as a nation actually see it, stuff like this is only going to get worse.

Augusta canceling the D,C, and P today is simply the first domino to fall. I suspect they'll call off the Masters soon after the USGA officially calls off the US Open.

Once the R&A cancels The Open, the PGA Tour will soon follow in canceling the season. There's really little point in denying it anymore.
