Is it generally allowed to use a personal hitting net in drive ranges?

I have a small portable golf hitting net, about 7 x 7 feet, and I typically use it in my back yard. I am wondering if golf courses would allow me to set it up and use it in their drive ranges? This would allow me to save some range balls plus I really like to hit "real" game balls vs. worn and beat range balls. Anyone knows if most courses would allow that? Thanks.

I would say most ranges will not allow you to set up your own net.

but if you can hit into the net at home, why would you take it to the range?

No, it’s not a replacement of driving range but rather a complement. I imagine that I hit two buckets of range balls and, if the range is open and I don’t get in the way of others, I would set up the hitting net and hit some wedge shots with my game balls.

No, especially if the range makes its money off of the rental of range balls. And then there's the liability angle (there's always one)...

If you had gotten in on that Dick's deal a few years back for 36 slazenger balls for $1.88, you'd still have cases and could take your own to the range cheaper than you could rent theirs by the bucket. Not that I would do that...

oh people. At least in my case it’s not for saving or being cheap but for the purpose of dialing in pitching distances with real game balls when traveling to tournaments - so no backyard to use. (I bring a GC2 with me to check the distances) But I get the message; it makes sense that golf courses don’t allow that.

Bring your CG2 and mix in 3-5 of your old balls to check your #’s while hitting range balls.
