These are excellent wedges. I picked up a 52 and 58 degree and was happily surprised that they came with S400 shafts instead of the normal S200 wedge shafts. These wedges knocked the Vokey SMs out of the bag. They actually feel and perform just like my custom Scratch wedge--and that's high praise. Nike gear continues to be sneered at by some, but is really up to par with anything else I've tried. I'm very happy with these wedges (and the VR TW Blades).

You will not find a better "stock" wedge then the Vr series. Very solid feel, the heads frame the ball nicely at setup and the heel grind allows the club to be laid open with little effect on the leading edge. Very easy to hit flops and high cuts with the 56°, 58° and 60° lofts. The stock grips are acceptable (seemed a little small) so I installed the GP Dual Durometer Full Cords since it is the grip that I play on my other clubs.

Question for anyone who has played these wedges:

1. How is the feel and spin of these wedges?

2. How hard on golf balls are these wedges?

Thanks,

Mike

1. Feel is very solid - classic forged feel. I think these feel more solid that forged Callaway and Mizuno wedges that I've hit in the past; this may be because the Nike's have a fairly substantial muscle.

2. Plenty of spin, but mine do not chomp golf balls the way MD or spin milled grooves have for me in the past.

Great wedges, love the feel and agree that the grind is right on.

A++ for these wedges.

Bought 3 last week, 52*,56* & 60* and they are AWESOME for:

Swingweight

Feel

Grind

Spin

Not being too hard on balls

My first outing with these was at the range, and hit some for lob wedges. These things backwards spun off longish grass with range balls. I was sold. Previously I thought I was a candidate for the special olympics as I could not impart ANY spin with my Cleveland CG11's!

First round yesterday - the amount of extra contol these wedges give you is unbelievable you can confidently check the ball up with an open face. Seriously go buy some!!

Looking forward to the Nike demo day to try these, I really get on well with the SV Tour lob wedge but if the VR is more versatile or offers a tad more spin then I might be tempted.

Just picked 3 up this mornng, (sse sig) after an extensive trial period, I loved my Mizzy's MP-T Black Nic's but needed a better groove technology and after demo'ing, Scratch, Titleist, Callaway, Cleveland, and Pelz, Nike clearly played better all around.

I tried a 52* today and boy was I impressed. First off, the feel was nicer than the Vokey, Callaway, and Cleveland I tried - maybe a little more clicky than a Scratch but pretty good. Trajectory was manageable - higher than Vokey's but not "balloonish" like the Cleveland CG series. Interestingly, the 52* Nike hit just as far as the 50* Vokey, 50* Callaway, and 47* Ping Tour W I tried. Maybe the S400 shaft had something to do with it. The S400 seems like plenty for me but I think I could tame it quickly. I was amazed how much spin this club made. It took BIG shreds out of the balls (bigger than the SM!) and the balls falls very steeply, like my Scratches. The only thing I hated about the club was the grip - thin, hard, and little texture. And I wish they had more loft/bounce combos - I'd have to bend a 52* 3 degrees strong for my PW.

I love my 56* VR wedge. I've been playing with a cheap POS SW since I started. I decided this year I would upgrade my SW. I demo'ed a Nike VR, Vokey SM, CG14, Ping Tour-w, and Mizuno MP-t. I liked the feel of the Nike the best, and I actually liked the grip too (firm, but tacky). I don't have a huge inventory to pull from when it comes to how hard it is on balls, but it can mark them up quickly. It was no uncommon to have plastic in the grooves after a 50-60 yd approach shot. My friends that are Vokey and Callaway snobs were even impressed with it. Now I need to go grab myself a 60* and I'll be set. I wouldn't have given these wedges a shot had it not been for a guy at a local shop urging me to try them.

I have gamed a 58* for almost two years and have definitely enjoyed the VR wedge. It's a good amount of spin and is fairly consistent on mishits. Overall have a really solid feel to them and are reminiscent, to me at least, of a Vokey 200.

really nice wegdes. has a little bit of a c-grind. i have a 60 and it spins like no other. shreds covers up. i have had it for 2 months now and it still acts like it is brand new, and i play pretty much everyday.

i wonder if the black finish feels/perform different?

I use to have the 52 and 60 in the black and 56 in chrome before switching to the new Vr Pro.
The black would spin and chew up balls alot more! The feel was great in both. Great wedges!

I have the 60 in chrome. it is by far one of the best feeling wedges I have in the bag. I have the CG14 sand and gap wedges and i am considering replacing them with the VR forged. The spin is nice but I had to move to a harder ball to minimize the shredding.

My SV Tour wedges had been so inconsistent and I couldn't get them to stop. I read good reviews on the Vr wedges and decided to at least try the 54*. I am hooked! Hadn't got a ball to stop like that since my old X-14 Callaway wedges. YES, it does shred the cover on full shots! It feels good, looks good, and does its job-I'll take it. Anybody wanna buy my SV Tours? I need money to get a 58* Vr wedge!!!

You guys stink. I was all happy with my SV Tours (but always baffled as to why I couldn't spin them well...) until I read through here on a whim... Golfsmith has them down to $80, so of course I grabbed a 56* to try out... looks like I'm about to be out another $160!

I'll post my feedback vs the sv tours once I hit them a bit.
