How to dress...

Recommended Posts

I have no idea what a lot of folks in this thread are thinking.

Wear what you like. Except white pants, cargo shorts, and joggers (sweat pants).

After that, the sky is the limit. Once you realize there aren't any "young guy clothes" or "old guy clothes", that there are just clothes, it'll make getting dressed a lot easier.

Go to a store, or online, look at clothes and find something you'd like to wear, buy it, and wear it. Find something to match. Buy it, wear it. Rinse and repeat.

It's not rocket surgery.

But white pants, cargo shorts, and joggers are also just clothes.

Correct. But we can all agree they have no business being worn due to their ugliness. And not just on course. Off the course also.

We can ALL agree? Just because you get a few more stuck up terds to agree with you doesn't mean we can ALL agree. You sound like my teenaged kids that say "ALL the kids have blah, blah, blah and I want it too!" I say to you what I say to them, be careful when you say the word ALL because then there would be true peace on some topic and that just ain't real. For the record, you're most likely in the minority. Maybe not on WRX, but then again, WRX is a small percentage of golfers in the world.

Very good point Juice, GRX is a very small percentage of all the golfers out there.

By the way, Thursday I played behind a guy wearing overalls. All of a sudden cargo shorts shouldn't sound so offensive

Although I don't agree that overalls are a golf apparel item, I can't knock someone for playing golf in whatever they had on at the time. For the game to grow, the snobbish thought of someone not being able to wear whatever they feel comfortable in has to stop. My group of guys wouldn't wear jeans, but we would wear white pants, orange, white shoes, Jordan golf shoes, and whatever else would offend Judge Smails. LOL!

-------------- Sorry for the messed up quoting, it hard for me to edit out quotes on my iPad.

Oh, I wasn't knocking him, just one I hadn't seen. I don't judge on what people wear because we are a jeans and cargo shorts group. But we don't offend people for too long because most groups can't keep up with us!

I don't know why you're making a smart a** remark to me on this subject. I'm on your side in this debate. I've been posting that I wear jeans and cargo shorts ever since I've been on the board.

Remember (maybe with your infinite wisdom), it's the topic we agree on.

No worries RS. I did mess up the quoting. I have trouble taking out some of,the quote blocks on my iPad when I get the message about "too many quotes".

We can still argue about playing too fast!

I recently made the move completely away from Nike apparel/shoes and have gone back to Polo, RLX and FJ shoes. I just turned 38 and i don't want to be a 40 year old guy wearing the young guy golf outfit any longer. I'm not old, but i think it's time to make the change.

Yeah a 40 yo shouldn't be dressing like Rickie, but I don't get your Nike comment. Nike, Adidas, Puma, etc all make plenty of nice, sharp looking apparel that would look good on middle aged and older guys.

Wear whatever you want but I'm not understanding that the Nike swoosh is only for younger folks. I wear whatever I can get on sale at Marhsalls. But I did breakdown and spend $50 on some Walter Hagen pants at Dick's. They are very nice.

I've got several pairs of Hagen's. Great for the office and the golf course.

Just got back from Marshalls. Bought a pair of Calvin Klein plaid pants and a Callaway OptiDry shirt. $36 for both.

Will you guys wear a Callaway shirt if you play all Titleist equipment?

Yes. Just to annoy people after reading this and similar threads.

At the risk of pissing off both the anti-white-trouser group AND the anti-jeans group, I generally wear white Lagerfeld jeans to play. But at lest I don't wear collared tee-shirts (prefer proper shirts), so shoot me.

That said, I also wear tartan Top Man trousers occasionally, and am on the cusp of buying myself some Slanj Trews, so I'm probably not to be taken seriously.

Not sure what all that means but it sounds quite fashionable to me.
