Took a few rolls to get the feel and distance control down due to the insert but was not anything that was too difficult.

My Scotty was pretty beat to **** and unfortunately there just was not much I could do. I agree for the price tag it is discouraging, but tools not jewels IMO.

I am having the opposite problem coming from the SC Cali....I am getting much closer on the longer putts and pulling the shorter ones. I have had mine for a few weeks and I really feel like it has changed my stroke on the shorter putts to where my transition is not nearly as smooth. I haven't really used a mallet putter in a long time and there is quite a difference in the weight and feel so I'm hoping it is just something that I get used to. I got the copper version and I really like the big alignment aid, which I think helps on the longer putts, allowing me to focus more on speed. There will be quite a competition next spring to see which one makes the bag.

I just purchsed the Spider and have the original headcover, but my playing partner has that exact one from Ebay and another one from the same company and loves them. The magnet is really strong and the outside material is very durable. I think he and I agree that the inside protection isn't as good as the original headcover but there is still some padding in it. He also purchased one from Etsy that was superior to both the ebay one and the original. It is a pretty sick design and it has an insanely strong magnet in it. The insides were pretty solid as well.....although it makes it look slightly bulky....but if you are looking for protection, that would be the trade-off.

Just a thought. Don't know which Scotty Cali model you had but the Spider flange may have more toe hang and it is definitely heavier than your old Scotty.

Most short putts that I see missed are missed to the pull side and it seems as though these putts have the head DEcelerating. Deceleration, IMO, tends to cause the clubface to close just before and at impact. The Spider being heavier may exacerbate the problem.

Of course this may NOT be your problem but you might want to check it out.

Good luck.

I don't doubt it. I feel like i am having trouble controlling the face on the shorter putts. When I shorten the stroke a little, I am hitting them a little short, so I think I am making a longer back stroke and the decelerating to try to control the speed. I should be able to figure it out, its just some growing pains with switching so late in the season.

After further review, it was bought on a different website, Robert Mark Golf, and he shipped it to somebody on Etsy to have velcro added to it. This is the link though for the original purchase. He said he had the velcro added so that he can hang it from his bag on the glove holder and it won't fall off if he forgets it.

I'll be looking to pick up a MySpider X over the off season in my preferred color combination. I thoroughly enjoyed my Spider Tour I played a year or so ago. Love the slight changes they made to the design. Played a few different higher end brand models, but always find myself wanting to go back to the Spider.

Meh

I like gray but there's not enough contrast between the gray and white.

With the dark blue and even the gold one, the white makes a really good contrast - easier to aim IMO.

I like the look. The My Spider X I ordered is all black and it looks a little small at address. The white look should make it appear a little larger and that would fit my eye more.

I initially put the 12g weights in it, but, I took the stock SS grip off and have the blacked out Ping grip, the one used by Tiger. Anyhoo - the 12g weights were too heavy for me. I was leaving everything way short. The 6g weights were perfect and that's what I have in there now. Good luck.

I bought the US Open one back in July. The velcro no longer sticks, and actually, stopped working in August. I was pissed. Went back to the stock HC and now that velcro is dying too. I ended up ordering a magnetic one from Cayce golf. I choose the floral pattern. Hasn't shipped yet, will update when it does. Too bad, because the vault hc's look fantastic - the halloween ones were sweet looking. But I'm not going to give them any more money for a crappy velcro hc ever again.

Chalk looks great on the greens to my eye. Picked up the slant neck version and replaced my Navy w/ Stripe to the Chalk. I've only had 2x 9 hole outings with the chalk putter but it's the same to me since I already had the navy x. Chalk is pretty. I was already decided on the chalk once they made JDay try the naked version on tour for a bit to get some buzz. Glad they didn't make it a Vault exclusive item and charge $500 lol.

How does the finish appear? Its probably too early to tell but does it seem to be the same durability as the Navy?

Unfortunately, yes its the same paint they've been using so it will chip if not babied. I'm a bit of a putter fiend so I tend to baby my putters so I had no issues with my Spider Tour and my Spider X. Majority of golfers believe in #toolsnotjewels so these Copper/Navy/Chalks will chip just like the Spider Tours. But they will roll true lol

When I had my fitting last week at the Canadian offices it may a huge deal when my loft was changed and the lie angle flattened

Decided to dive in on the 'Chalk' as well - Customized with 8g weights and SS Traxion Pistol GT1.0...

(Think there have been suggestions the stock weights are 6g, believe they are actually only 2g as an aside).

So, I picked up a Navy/White Spider X this summer in a trade...

I worked with it for over a month and decided I don't do well with the sight line on top but I do like the contrasting inner body for alignment. Being a consummate WRXer I needed to get work done.

I originally painted in the the sight line (which looked good) but I realized it needed to go.

dgvj00ro8pls.jpg

My plan was get rid of the Navy/White paint, fill in the sight line, Repaint outer body flat black and the inner top body matte black. Well, in true "Pure Michigan" timing Monday it snowed all day dumping our first 6-8 inches of snow in my area. The next day I get a wonderful text that my putter is ready. Stoked to see it and stuck at work I asked for a preview pic. I can not be happier how this turned out.

Here it is:

n9dij3csdtod.jpg

Super stoked after the pic I got to my guys over at Golf Tech on 10 Mile Rd. Novi Mi. I've been working with Dennis & Tom Kitchen for 10+ years. These guys are awesome!!!

(no mark on the putter - that's a spec of rubber on the camera lens)

We left the white face untouched, but I've decided to get that redone in flat black also. It's gonna be hard to wait awhile longer for this!

Going through a bit of a putting slump right now......Any of you guys having issues with short putts with the Spider X? Lag putting is phenomenal but short putts have been atrocious. I cant count how many times I've missed 3-4 ft range the last couple of rounds.
