Closest shaft to Oban CT-115, S flex steel shafts?

FWIW - I moved to Oban 115s from my beloved Modus 120s. Love them both, but nothing really feels like an Oban to me.

Was also recently fit into Oban CT115 at CC. Tried exactly 2 shafts (Steelfiber 115 and DG300) before conveniently settling into the Oban and then swapped out heads to get a final club setup. $2200 for 4-W. Like that’s gonna happen. Pretty pissed I didn’t get to try/compare any KTS or Nippon. My guess is that any single digit walking into CC magically gets fit into Oban.

All clubs left-handed, baby:

I’ve just been fit into the CT-115’s and the closest to them were the KBS tour 110’s. Fitter didnt try steering me one way or the other though as the head of choice was HMB/MB combo and the way that particular fitter can source the Mizzy heads there wasn’t much of a difference price wise. Now a three week wait!

Different feel, but similar performance (for me) to CT 115 stiff, is PX 5.5.

No. It's nothing like saying a VW is like a Mercedes. With cars, there are 100's if not 1000's of differences. With shafts, we're talking about a pattern that is nearly identical in shape and form, with cost nuances that differ mainly only in materials and quality control for the shafts, while cars have 100's of parts and varying degrees of quality that have different price points and a plethora of price based nuances. I've read over 2 dozen different accounts that say Shimada has a line that is nearly identical to the Oban line. So I will have to respectfully disagree. There are actually 2 articles on the topic at TourSpec.

True temper Elevate Tour. Cannot compare spin numbers but shaft loading, smoothness and ball flight very similar (TT launched a bit hihger)

You must be comparing to CT 100s and not 115s as the OP asked unless there is another Nippon NEO than the 950 GH NEO because these are 15-20 gr lighter than Oban 115s

im refering to both 100/115. neo is the only shaft with a similar profile to the CT's. the user will get over the weight difference bc the profiles are so similar. X neo comes in 104 just use that if worried about weight.

Neo X 7i is 36.5" which is 2" shorter than CT115S 7i spec at 38.5" ... if you cut them both to the same length its 104g Neo X vs 109g Oban CT115S. This is a very small difference well worth sacrificing to use a shaft w/ the same great profile at lower cost.

Great info. Will that 5 gr difference be maintained throughout the set? Thks

I know that we all have read comments about how a lot of the CC fittings are resulting in these shafts and as rational (and somewhat cynical) humans, we tend to ascribe some ulterior motive for why these expensive shafts seem to fit a lot of people so well.

But having been fit into these and played with them for over 3 seasons now, I have to say that they absolutely do perform. I have a bunch of irons (what can I say) including two sets of Bridgestone J15CBs one of which is with the Oban CT115s and the other with DG S300. Everything else is the same - specs, grip, etc. And I see a definite performance and feel benefit from the Oban shafts each time I play with them.

Totaly legit. Still bloody expensive, but legit AF...

I agree, definitely the best feeling steel shaft on the market by a landslide. Everytime I hit them I just smash the crap out of the ball. The Accras I currently play were second best (and by that I mean almost identical FOR ME), so I opted for them. Saved roughly $30 p/ shaft and I haven't seen a downside yet. My next set I am thinking I'll try the Obans and then the 125s in my wedges.

I actually replied to the other thread before reading this one so i'm glad someone else found the same.

Profile wise, the Oban CT shafts really look like they just took the Project X Rifle profile and smoothed out the places that make it feel harsh to some people. The bump in butt stiffness is flattened and the mid section loses stiffness faster, so its basically just a smoother, easier loading PX from a profile standpoint. Dropping one half flex and soft stepping once or twice with the PX is probably the closest match.

I was fit into CT115X this week at club champion and when I saw the pricing I was shocked. I also got fit into an Project X evenflow riptide CB which doesn’t come standard on any driver head. Total cost for all clubs was 4,500. The numbers with the driver were above and beyond but besides hitting the ball higher for the same distance, the CTs didn’t wow me. Can’t justify spending 800 to reshaft all my irons. Even though I’m sure I’d hold more greens...maybe after tax return hehe

Hey guess what? I just finished a fitting at CC.

I was fit into Oban CT 115 X.

I'm getting my 3 iron reshafted. Should have it next week.

The closest to it was probably the true temper elevate tour.

It is great and absolutely makes sense that this thread is filled with CC fittings. The two big name fitters use this shaft and sprinkle in some smaller studios. You won't find them at "insert manufacturer" fitting days.

I'll be putting the Oban in one club at a time, 3 is already getting done, 4 is a strong maybe, 5 and the rest isn't really necessary but still a maybe for 5 and 6.

I recently got fitted at True Spec and originally got fitted into the Modus 105's but decided to wait for the 2021 P790's to come out.  I came back a few months later when they were available at True Spec and ended up getting fitted into the Oban CT-115's.  Both shafts felt great, however I did like the Oban's much better and the numbers backed it up.  Expensive, but very happy with my purchase.

Picked up a set of lightly used Miura MC-501 with oban CT-115 S shafts.  I got sick of waiting forever for my

mizuno pro 221 order so I had these Miuras fit to the specs of the 221 for length, lie, loft, etc.  I hit pretty much every shaft on the market and was fit to PX LZ 6.0.  I can tell you these Oban shafts are amazing in both feel and dispersion…like no other shaft I demo’d. Ball flight is a tad higher than I’d ideally prefer but overall, I lucked out buying these blind for never hitting the irons nor shafts. Miura feel is amazing as well…when you hit them pure, it’s honestly even better feeling than mizuno irons.
