Whats the deal with poker chips?

I have a few antique poker chips I bought in Tombstone, don't use them.

 

I use a 50 cent piece form the year I was born. It's easy to dig out of my pocket and see on the green. Frankly if my marker is in someone's way I just putt out.

I haven't seen Pogs or Slammers in years. I remember them being very popular when I was in Elementary School. My friends had all different varieties of the Slammers.

 

 

As for the Poker chip deal, I don't see it as a big deal. If that makes them happy, so be it. If you don't like it, that's on you. Skimming through this reminded me of a podcast that a former Navy Seal named Jocko Willink did with a former POW in Vietnam. His name is Charlie Plumb, and he was in the Hannoi Hilton.

 

Part of the conversation from the podcast dealt with dealing with things that people do that annoy you, and how that's a you problem, not the person that is annoying you. Here's a clip of it if you have a couple of minutes.

 

Its not a matter of it being annoying, the mark should have as little effect on a rolling ball as possible. Its the marker's responsibility to make certain that their mark is not an obstruction...if they can think for one second about someone other than themself.

 

I'm not disagreeing with making sure it's not an obstruction. The person marking the ball with the poker chip should ask if it needs to be moved out of someone's line. If they don't because they're inconsiderate, then it probably doesn't matter if they're using a poker chip or a coin because they're probably not going to be thinking of someone other than themselves anyways.

If a poker chip distracts you that much, well, I don't know what to tell you.

 

You should be concentrating on your line, not the chip.

 

I don't used them, but they don't bother one bit.

I have used one in the past in a pinch. I don't ever do it if there's a remote chance someone would hit it though. I don't care if I moved it a few putter heads over or not. May as well leave your ball unmarked at that point.

my saw that my partner used the chip marker I bought him from the Constellation Senior Tournament I worked over the summer.

I used my coffee cup.
