Ping Sigma G putters

I was underwhelmed by the way the putter sounds.. it has a distinct click. but if I close my eyes and stuff my ears full of cotton (i actually have molded plugs for this) the tactile feel of the putter is phenomenal. It was definitely not what I was hoping for, but it different, not worse.

Tyne owner here -- anyone else a little underwhelmed by the feel of this putter?

Seems so muted... nondescript, almost.

I won't sit here and bash PING because most of the time, they knock it out of the park but I think between the underwhelming feel, very distinct sound(I'm not a fan of it) and the lack of weight options, PING fell short with the Sigma G line. I had my heart set on 1 of the 3 mallets in the range. These were the Tyne, the Darby and the Wolverine. While I liked the look of the Tyne the most out of them, I would've bought the one that I made the most putts with. I can't get over the fact that these 3 putters are all 370g which I would regard as heavy putters which are not for me. There were many more weight options in the Cadence TR line that came out 2 years ago. I just can't comprehend why they didn't take a similar approach for the Sigma G line.

my kinloch arrived today...much faster than they quoted. I guess I can't be disappointed when they quote too many days! Anyways...i got it w/ the pp62 grip at 34 inches and it's a great putter. It doesn't have the odd sound that some people talk about. I think the bladed once sound more normal than the mallets. Anyways...really like it and look forward to the course.

But at the same time, sound is so personal... what sounds odd to me, my be the devils note for you, and get the juices flowing just right. Thats why its unimportant how other people describe sound / feel , as its so subjective. Sound is psychological, just like color... what is my favorite blue, might be meh to you, and your favorite blue might be teal to me.

Tried a kinloch CB today and found it to be one of the most solid putters I have tried lately. Not sure what is being said about the sound....I guess muted... I don't care for clicky putters. If it was shorter than 38 I would have walked out with it.

and mr Pull Fade... you need to get yourself a putter at the right length to try.

St Johns? Thats outside of Jax right? Why don't you join us NEXT weekend in Lake City for breakfast and golf. so far its only me and "offthedole" but trying to get a group together

Well it turns out that I'm one of those folks who loves the Ketsch B.

Blades have always looked too small and mallets, even small ones, look too big. The Ketsch B fits right in the middle. Feel is great and I love the way the alignment lines frame the ball.

It's been putter roulette lately but half a dozen rounds in and it looks like a keeper.

The Ketsch and the Ketsch B both look odd to my eye. Thats whats great about it. Some people love it, some people, not. I love the Tyne. couple of guys at my club think its ugly... just is what it is.

Keep rolling that sucker Robin

Am I right in saying that the stock grip on the Sigma G putters are the same shape as the SS Flatso but slightly smaller?

I believe so. I bought a 33" and added half an inch and they couldn't save the grip. Side by side the stock grip and the Flatso 1.0 look virtually identical and I don't feel any difference.

Can anyone help me figure out the correct head weight for the Ketsch B Model. Pings website states 360g, but most online retailers list it as 350g. I tried reaching out to ping but cust. srvc is closed and their twitter hasnt responded. Hoping someone on here could quickly clear this up. I assume Pings site is correct, but just wanting to be sure before ordering. Thanks!

I would say, trust their web site.

I stopped by GolfDom in DC and they had many of the Sigma G line. Thought I would like the Darby, but did not set up well to my eye. B60 was nice, as was the Anser 2. Ketch B was just odd to me and didn't feel particularly good. If I wanted to get away from a blade, would seriously consider the Tyne.

As it was, the Voss platinum won my heart. Best feel and very good accuracy for me. Loved how the cavity framed the ball and a perfect (to my eye) topline. Arna was a distant second.

Think I will order with the Voss with white paint fill and the PP58 midsize grip (did not like the stock offering)

Does anyone know the exact headweight of the Piper 3? The PING website said it's 360g but like other models, some retailers are saying that it's 350g so I'm not sure which one it is.

I tested out every blade that came out in the last 2 years and for me, the best feel and roll I got was the Sigma G Anser. It has a lovely soft feel but it's has a degree of firmness that still gives you feedback off each putt. The Spider Tour was also on my radar as it was a mallet in the medium weight range with toe hang. Overall, I think the Anser just pipped the Spider head to head. Lag putts were better with the Spider, medium putts were similar and my putts within 10 feet were definitely better with the Sigma G Anser.

I ordered a Sigma G Anser yesterday with my own specs. 34.5 inches, black dot standard lie and a white paint fill of the PING logo on the hosel and back cavity. Really looking forward to getting my hands on it and rolling it.
