Ping Sigma G putters

Dear Ping, please put removable weights in your putters. Thank you.

Agreed. I was so gutted over the fact that the Tyne is 370g. That's much too heavy for me as I like my putter head to be at 350g. I went for an Odyssey O-Works #7 that has a 350g head weight but I would have preferred the Tyne. I do like my #7 but the tyne to me, just a tad better.

I want to add weight to the new Sigma Anser...I prefer heavier and don't like the lead tape on the bottom. The Vault line is a tad heavier or might consider the Kinloch which is also a little heavier.

If you want to add to weight to it and don't like lead tape on the bottom, you could always take off the grip, put the lead into the shaft and then put the grip back on. That way you can keep the putter that you're set on with the weight you want.

Well I normally play my putter at around 350. Coming from a Original Ketsch to the Tyne. I love he headweight. Putter feels so stable during the stroke. I took stockngrip off st put midsize Iomic on and away we went. Putts inside of 10 feet are amazing and my speed control has been really good on long lag putts as well. Could be the honeymoon phase but really enjoying it right now

Has anyone found out for sure if there are definitely two Tyne models? There was another thread mentioning there was possibly both a straight back and forth model and a slight arc model. Can we confirm this? Or is it just one model that will work for both strokes? I have only seen the ones labeled for a straight stroke.

On the Ping website they clearly say there are 2 options, straight and slight arc.

Just a thought for those of you who like the putter but not the weight...

I'm not sure how much the Ping PP60 grip weighs, but for those of you who feel that the Tyne is too heavy, there are some very heavy grips out there that can help counterbalance some of that weight. The Superstroke Flatso 1.0 at 85g (original, not the new weighted version) and Iomic Absolute X Jumbo at a whopping 127g come to mind.

I think the pp60 grip only weighs 57 grams. So good call on heavier grip. That's a perfect putter to turn into a counterbalance. The head is only 5 grams lighter than the O-works tank.

I really like the new grip. I would like maybe to "VERY SLIGHTLY" counterbalance it. so would that mean I could add a touch of wieght under the butt end?

Google Clevis pin and head to your local Home Depot or Lowes and grab a couple. They are about $1 a piece. They fit perfectly into the top of the putter shaft with a layer or 2 of hockey tape around them to keep set. They come in a bunch of different lengths which lets you choose the weight you want. I believe the 1/2 inch diameter ones are the ones that fit right into the top of the shaft. It's an old school trick I learned on here a while ago before counter balancing became popular and available in other grips. I still do it to everyone of my putters.

I'm pretty sure they are using the same elastomer that's in the irons. Mine doesn't sound clicky, it sounds like it has a sound slot. That's in my opinion.

Geaux did you roll a straight Tyne and if so could you tell the difference between that and the slight arc in performance?

No. I used to have a slight arc Nome. Then I had a straight stroke Nome and Oslo. It just never fit me perfectly. The slight arc does. The Tyne doesn't seem to have any toe hang. Which is weird. But it feels soooooo good

I tried them. Really wanted to love them but the feel is not great for me.

Loved the look of the Tess.

on another note, really loved the feeling of the O works micro hinge insert. Hate the look...

I'm the opposite. Liked the ping. Felt very disappointed in the odyssey. I'm an odyssey fan but the o works are ugly and hated the feel. For me the nod easily goes to ping. Glad you like the o works though...they gotta sell them to someone.

After being excited to order a Sigma G - I was extremely disappointed after getting to roll one. The "elastomer" plate AKA piece of plastic made it feel incredibly cheap with a huge plastic click on every roll.

I found this to be the case with the Kushin. Don't know why it felt so different than the others. All the others were excellent.

Picked up the Tyne with the PP62 grip. It's heavier than the PP60 and feels better with the heavier head IMO. Was easier for me for t the ball to the hole. Thought I would get the piper but this thing is so stable it's ridiculous and ball really keeps its line. The pp62 grip is almost round and to me feels awesome. Similar in size to SuperStroke 3.0.

Is the grip on these noticeably smaller than the Vault? What size of SS would they be comparable to? I just purchased a Voss and the grip was too large, immediately threw on a midsize PP58.

The standard grip on the Sigma is the new PP60. The standard on the Vault is the PP62. So yes, much smaller.

Personally, I prefer the previous PP62. Have it on two of my putters and will have it on a Sigma if I get one. Don't let the title fool you. It's a pistol grip: https://www.golfworks.com/ping-pp62-non-pistol-putter-grip/p/PG0034/

Generally, counterbalance grips bring the wrists more into play. That's a big no no for me. Plus, they don't sit well in my hands at all. Numerous club pros have told me that and in general, the counterbalance grips were aimed at players who had to give up the anchor putters and not players who putt in a more conventional way (most of us). Furthermore, the CB grips were not initially aimed at players looking to play around with the weight sensation and transferal of weight in the putter. But now there is a market for that, so it gained momentum. Before someone points this out to me, I am also aware that there are pros using CB grips who never had an anchor putter.

My point here is, I really wanted the Tyne because it's a beautiful looking putter that to me, looks like a more built Odyssey #7. But at 370g, its too heavy and I wouldn't get it and hope that if I play around with the weight, it will eventually feel good. Feel is subjective and this is just my opinion.
