I think mine kills. I have to get used to the weight. It's definitely heavier. I might add a wrap of lead tape at the but of the grip to counter it very slightly.

I tried the Tyne, B60, Darby, Kinloch, Anser, and Kushin. I was set on a B60 but really loved the Tyne. Sets up nicely (much better than an Odyssey #7) and rolls the ball beautifully with a wonderful feel that has been lacking in Ping putters for a long time. As others have said, the stock grip is great, better than on the Vault line. I prefer a larger grip so if I pick one up it will probably be with the Winn PP62 they offered a couple years ago. I would love to try a Doon that isn't CB, as I really like the shape. Maybe get one cut down. And will hopefully get a chance to see the Tess as it looks gorgeous.

Different places say different things as far as release date. Either way I am stoked.

 

Consumer release date is Feb 16th.

I just pre-ordered a Tyne and I'm pretty excited. I love the #7 to my eye but never bagged one because all of the Odyssey 7's had something I didn't like.

Great choice! The Tyne is phenomenal. I'm having a hard time choosing between that and the Kushin. Might just get both.

I only rolled them at my local shop as it is winter here. The face to me seems slightly softer than the Cadence and Scottdale lines of the past.

 

The store didnt have every model but I enjoyed the Tess and Kushin C, which is odd since they're probably two of the more different models available.

 

I definitely would like to roll the Ketsch B if I can find one around me.

I grabbed a Kushin at GG and immediately made three long putts with it. Crap! Now I want one. Looks great and sets up nicely to my eye.

Rolled my first Sigma G today and was very impressed with the putter. Had a great weight and feel to it.

Tried several models yesterday at GG. Really liked the d66 and the piper. I almost walked out with the piper. Wanted to try the ketsch blade as I think it looks really cool but they didn't have it. Didn't care for the Doon or the Darby. I have gamed blades and mallets in the past and don't mind playing either style but I liked the blade styles in this line better than the mallets.

Picked up my Tess yesterday that I ordered. Only rolled it indoors so far but the look and feel are very nice. Stock grip really is fantastic. Gonna take it out to the course this coming week for a couple of rounds. Oh yeah one more thing...the putter cover is magnetic which is awesome!!

I have never had a putter that is as heavy as the Tyne I picked up. My heaviest headed putter was the NOME at 360grams... This is taking some getting used to ... But i love the feel and the look. just have to get used to how it rolls.. I have left 20 foot puts 10 feet short and have had 10 feet coming back on 5 footers

I wanted a Scotty Cameron Futura Wingback putter but refused to pull the trigger on one because of the fact it wasn't a Ping putter. Now I have what i want, and the way I want it.

Has any one tried the sigma ketsch B? I have tried the rest at GG and so far the Piper and Tess are in the lead, but GG didn't have the ketsch B out on the floor.

Yes I tried the Ketsch B but I prefer the Piper 3 as well. That is my favorite one so far.

The Tyne came home with me today. Just immediately fit my eye. Its like the Odyssey #7 and Scotty X5 had a baby. Right in between both in terms of looks feel and sound. The head weight is fantastic for someone that wants that CB feel in a shorter putter.

Is the counterbalance grip bigger than previous PING counterbalance grips?

but somehow i dont see how its possible that the Tyne sets up much better than the #7.. explain yourself ! i really need convincing to buy the Tyne.

I tried these yesterday and loved them. I usually hate the larger superstroke style grips but the ping flatso style one was tacky and still felt good. The milled face is springy and felt similar to my Nike method origin. It puts a great roll on the ball and kept its line. If I didn't just buy a Scotty X7m this would be on my list and the price is great. I liked it a lot better than the new odyssey o works

Bought the tyne this weekend and spent a couple hours on the putting green and played 18 in it. Here are my initial thoughts:

 

- sets up perfectly behind the ball. I've never gamed the odyssey 7 but from having rolled it around in stores plenty of times, to me the tyne sets up much better behind the ball.

 

- Soft feel. When hit in the center, it's got such a soft, pleasant feel too it. It's not too soft to the point that distance control is effected. I would compare the feel to various seemore putters or 2 ball versa.

 

- it's quite forgiving. Even on off center hits, I didn't lose much distance. Of course if you push then you'll push. But if you start on the right line but hit it off center, you'll notice you'll have a short gimme instead of a 3-4 footer.

 

- My putter has the PP60 grip. It feels great in hand but I prefer the non tapered feel of superstroke or the tour snsr better. I'll keep the pp60 on for awhile and try to get used to it but I don't have my hopes up.

 

Overall, I'm quite impressed with it. Been anxious to try it out since the pics came up a few months ago and it did not disappoint.

I really really liked the shea h. Almost left with it and I didn't even walk in for putters. Wanted to like the tess but the ball came off so hot my distance control was awful. Usually I putt best with that style. Loved the shea though

Agreed. I was so disappointed when I felt how heavy it was. If it weighed anywhere around 350g, I would've been all over it.

I also like the heaviness of the head. Helps with stability throughout the stroke. At 370, it's still lighter than previous years "heavy" putters.

I could get a little heavier grip or put a wrap of lead tape at the butt end of the grip to "counterbalance" it I guess, but I actually do like the heaviness... just have to get used to the way that it rolls the ball.

 

I played yesterday and finally started sinking some puts. made a couple of (on the back nine) 6 footers that I have been missing. birdied 13 and 17 and then made a couple of 6 and 8 foot par saves. so very pleased. the birdies were both from about 6-8 feet as well

 

I did miss a two footer for par early in the round. Put my hybrid on 5 to about 12 feet and it ran by 2.5 pulled the putt coming back and never touched the hole. (i generally will push or pull short putts) so I still need to work on my stroke. This is why i am a 7 handicap golfer and not a better player... short putts.. always have been my kryptonite...
