Nike VRS Covert Forged Iron Love thread... Wowzie! Comparison Pics added...

Does anyone have the bounce numbers for these irons?

 

I got an answer from Nike and posted it a few pages back. I'd provide the link bit I'm on my phone and searching isn't the easiest. From what I recall the low irons where 3deg and the PW tops out at 6deg.

I could do 3-pw in all covert 2.0 but the ho in me is tweakin.

I'm not sure how it will work with the different lofts but it would be interesting.

There was an earlier post that stated college players were going 3,4 in CF2 bent weak the rest in pro combo.

I was lucky enough to go to the nike oven last year. Jeff Barton was the fitter and clearly knew what he was doing. [color=#282828]We ended up going with a 3 and 4 iron in the VRS_Forged. Then we went [/color][color=#282828]5-pw [/color][color=#282828]Nike[/color][color=#282828] [/color][color=#282828]Pro Combo[/color][color=#282828]. I was hitting the pro combo in the 3 and 4 iron fine but I asked him his thoughts. Jeff said and I quote... "if you were on my team, I would want you in the VRS_Forged 3 and 4." [/color]

I would have to add loft progressively to the Covert forged 2.0 before the mixed set reached the Pro Combos

These babies are available with a gap, sand, and lob wedge? Seems strange for a "players" iron? Maybe they're designed for both "players" and "pretenders"? Hmm!

They are not a players iron. They are an excellent game improvement iron. It just happens that single digit golfers appreciate their feel and forgiveness and play them.

Looks like my kind of clubs to game..I'm currently rocking the VR Pro Combo, but I do find the long irons harder to be consistent with (user error). I'll have to wait and see if my game improves or not in the next couple years and revisit these bad boys.

IMHO, the 2.0's are much better than the VR_S. I've had both and they nailed the looks on these, and the reduced sole is nice as well.

Just got my set delivered tonight and they look great. I gamed the VR_S Forged all of last season and they were the best irons I have had. The Covert Forged are definitely a slimmer version of the originals. I can't wait to play a round with them.

How would you compare the Covert 2.0 Forged to your i25's? My wandering eye is looking at both...

The i25's are solid and very easy to hit. I only have one round and a range session with the i25's and have yet to hit the Nike's. I'm just waiting for my wedges and Tour Driver and Performance 3 wood to show up before I take them out. I'm hoping to have a round or two under my belt by the end of next weekend and then I should have a decent idea of how each of them perform.

I've been ho'ing a lot over the last two years and I think this Nike bag I put together will be the one I hold onto for a while, at least I'm hoping it will because I have spent too much money. haha

Had a chance to see 'em yesterday. Wow! It was like I just took a hit of Cialis. Talk about off the charts, drop dead gorgeous! Our assistant pro is gonna play 'em this year. Now to pick a shaft I suppose. I'm thinking KBS Tour 90. We'll see. Also seen the new Toe Sweep VR X3X wedge. Interesting concept. Anyone hit 'em?

Whats the turn around time from order to delivery on custom shaft orders with Nike, a couple of weeks?

I hit a couple dozen balls with these irons today while I was at Golf Galaxy and they felt great. I've done some research on these irons, and several websites say that they are designed for low to mid handicappers though. I'm a 22.5 handicap and am wondering if these irons would be too much for me. I asked the PGA pro who worked at GG, and he said that they are really forgiving and I should be fine. However he is also trying to sell them to me so I'm looking for other opinions. What do you think?

These irons are super forgiving. I'm a better player but have little time to practice anymore and have lost a little distance over the years. These irons have given me one full club back in distance and are as easy to shape as any other club I've played.

If Nike would thin the topline just a bit and make the sole width/face length smaller in the higher irons, this set would be perfect and I think low handicaps would embrace it. Maybe a Covert Forged Tour set (hint hint). I'd be the first to order another custom set. The offset is in this set is perfect!!!

Nike has a serious winner in these sticks! And I feel the Covert Forged irons are excellent for everyone from scratch to a 20+ handicap. Their that versatile.

I ordered a set with KBS Tour shafts through discount Dans and the turnaround time was about 10 days.

Just now reading through this thread and I'm thankful for it. I really hadn't thought of even looking at these irons but I will certainly do so now. I don't have a Nike club in the bag this year but that doesn't mean that I am not a big Nike fan. I will gladly have to get my hands on some covert irons.

I don't know if has been mentioned earlier or not, I don't remember seeing it, but Nike's spec page for these irons don't list bounce angles. Does anyone have them? Another thing I noticed was the very upright lie angles on their wedges? Reason?
