46 deg PW... Whats your wedge setup?

Recommended Posts

I like most guys have gone with both 3 and 4 wedge setups.

I play BStone J40 DPC and current setup is all titleist sm5 wedges, 52.08F bent to 51, 56.10S bent to 55, and 60.04L.

Only thing that never changes is I always carry a 60. Been using a 60 for nearly 25 years, comfort level and distance management of the 25-50 yard shots are so ingrained I just would never mess with it. Inside 50 yards is all feel, so afraid to mess with it.

I was looking at going to the 50-54-58 but I tried that last year and like several of you guys stated on here, it started messing with me. I had always been a 52-56-60 guy and when playing the 54 I was always stuck in between shots so to speak. I think I will stay with what I''m comfortable with. Now, I just have to figure out which Vokeys I'm going with!!

This...four wedges involved way too much thinking. I now practice less than full shots with the two.

Right now 46 54 58 and happy.And its winter, drop n stop.
Simple choices.
Was using 9 iron at 42 then a gap to 48 52 56 60 last summer.
The 46 Hogan wedge is real solid!
Still practicing in the rain earlier in the week at the range, good accuracy,
I need to get 20 balls and check the distance gaps from 42 46 54 58 with 3/4 swing.
I'm shallow swinger, small divot.
Cheers!
PS get a Coaching Lesson in the sand Before changing the wedges!

Currently playing a 46* PW, 52* SM5 F grind and a 58* SM5 K grind. Irons have C-Taper X and the wedges have C-Taper S+

Tried the 50/54/58 setup but sometimes less is more.

I play a 45 degree PW and a 50 degree gap wedge in my Adams CB2's, along with 54, 58 and 62 degree Callaway X-Forged wedges. I know it's a lot of wedges, but it works well for me, as I hit the PW 140 yards, the GW 125 yards, the 54 degree 110 yards, the 58 degree about 95. I never take a full cut with the 62, but use it a lot from 40 yards in.

I have a 46* PW, and I am currently going 53/59. I went 50/54/58 for the last few years....but I switched it up and added a strong three wood (to gap between driver and 4 wood).

So far I am liking this set up, but the 120 yard shot is plauging me. I hit tried to nut the 53, but it seems to max out just short of that. I tried to choke down on the 46 PW, but seem to pull it....so I just have to dial in a 80% swing on the 46 PW to hit that 120 yard range.

The 50* was a perfect 120 for me.

I think that having the extra option off the tee with the long 3 wood saves me more strokes than not sticking the occasional 120 yeard wedge shot.
