As an occasional visitor to the LPGA forum here... I must admit the nicknames here confuse the heck out of me.

Has someone compiled them somewhere? When I read posts I have to refer back to this thread and search through for the nicknames. The names are fun but make it difficult to access for the uninitiated. Adding to this, when you search through this thread there are sometimes multiple nicknames proposed for individual ladies.
It's easier to just avoid the LPGA threads now.
Take your own advice much ??
I do actually enjoy watching the ladies play golf. I occasionally enjoy discussing golf. The nicknames make following LPGA discussions less enjoyable. I do refrain from following the LPGA discussions on this site, but still had this thread in my news feed. Carry on guys. Good luck with the secret handshake.
Fine retort. That is until your last sentence which blew the rest of your post right out of the water. One oar I suppose...

+2. This "secret handshake" thing makes this forum look like an "in crowd" only forum. Perhaps it is but I decided to post anyway b/c I love LPGA. For now, I am trying to go with the flow but I wish people use better judgment when they use nicknames. Without proper context, a new person posting/visiting will not know who Rocket, SNAP, etc. are. It makes those posts look like an e-mail to an alias rather than to a forum. My 2 cents.

The only nicknames I use are NYC ( fans gave her that and she's embraced it) SYR and HYP I use too. Sometimes I might call HYP "The Rocket," but when was the last time you saw her "Rocketing" up the leaderboard?? "The Librarian" love that one, just fits. I like Jodi Hyphen too. Some of the others are a bit too much and I really don't like them but I would never not post or read because of the madness that is 22 putt and tbowels.

But who wants to be reading another thread and have to stop and go to another thread to find out who the hell someone is talking about. Not to mention that eventually the nickname thread will not even be on the front page of the LPGA board.

Just call them by their real name so everyone can know who is being talked about.

End of rant :taunt:

The whole nickname tendency for LPGA discussion forum comes across as a bit juvenile.
Indeed. Perhaps, some posters are closer to juvenile age which can explain the tendancy. Nothing wrong with that, it's a free 'net. But IMHO, it may shy away some LPGA fans from joining these LPGA tour discussions.

Personally I like using nicknames, except for a couple I deem in poor taste.

I watch the LPGA, a little more, but I only glance at the threads on here. And, you're right, even though I've added the original list to my favorites, I got lost three weeks later. It seems that everybody and his cousin has a NEW description on the same player.

It was the same bit that was cropped out in your original reply. I followed suit and I'm not sure why it got pasted it back in there. I said it and stand by it, but it doesn't move this discussion in a positive direction.

Not all LPGA players are beautiful or wear a shi* eating grin when they come across situations they find unfair or biased. Some of them walk and carry themselves more like athletes than runway models. If [contrived] nicknames help people stay engaged in the sport, who am I to judge. Seriously, I have no dog in this fight other than to say it's exclusionary and enough of a reason not to follow their tour on this forum. There are other "news" sources for the LPGA.

Hello all
Take 2 minutes and read post #2 of this thread....Argonne69 has done a great summary of all the nicknames...it's not the SAT's to try to remember their nicknames.

IMO....the use of nicknames is not to create an atmosphere of exclusion....some of us are only having some fun.
If others think we are a bunch of immature losers..oh well...maybe we are.....lol :taunt:
