Not sure it's really about performing better on good shots, it's about performing better on bad shots.

Higher ballspeed across the face, less spin when hit off-centre, that kind of thing.

Absolutely 100% correct. Most of these guys already know what works and what doesn't... it takes 2-3 swings to know if its got any shot to make the bag. BUT it takes a lot more than that for some of the guys to trust it under the gun especially for a major and especially when the player has a driver he loves.

I think there are so many people here that think there is some perfect combo for every player out there.... shaft wise, head wise, etc.... some magic combo. Realistically they all know what works and the amount of testing they do isn't as much as most on here think unless the player is truly tinkering or searching. BUT, most guys know the feel they like and the weight they like... from there its all about the brand and relationship that player has with that brand... which is how shafts get into play. As far as the heads go, the PGA Tour reps will say "Hey Steve, you played 8.5 in 913, stick with 8.5 in 915" or whatever the scenario is.... the reps will know whether to "loft up" or stay the same, etc etc etc.

Scratch.... absolutely right on.... trust. When teeing it up for 7 figures and the Claret Jug.... trust.

If they played poorly they would be forced to BST the 915 for poor performance or the shaft wasn't stout enough for them

Jason Duffner didn't want to change from 910 to 913 but he changed quickly to 915 and playing at the Open this week. Must be good.

Go demo the 913... If launch and spin are good then buy the 913. If launch is a little low or spin is a little high wait to try the 915. My thoughts only

Scotty won the masters, and nearly a british with a 913, and I think rors won the PGA and was tearing the cover off the ball with a 913, so you couldnt go wrong with either

Keep in mind, getting getting the right loft, length, and shaft combo for your swing will take that pce of equipment to the next level for your game. I can hit a 913 with the same spin as an SLDR, now if I want to pound down on the ball like a sand wedge, the SLDR is a lower spin with that swing than the 913
