No new acquistions...?
I doff my cap to anyone who can bring home those Grinds and ebay them just because they don't fit. I suspect I'd be tempted to hold on to them on the off-chance that I grow into them down the line. In fact, the X100 shafted RAC blades in my cupboard speak eloquently to this point.
Well played, John. Remember, "He who is attached (to eBay, Play It Again, Goodwill and Craigslist) will suffer much." ;)

Saved the company, really, I did not know that. What's the story on that, Pete?

There I was, going all white knuckle, cold turkey like, down in the south, against my sinful nature, me, not buying any clubs, hell not even day tripping 'round to the Goodwills, or that used candy store out by Kiawah. Trying to keep my lustfull ways at bay, NO, not EBay, although i have been looking at its porn, but I haven't hit the button. I SWEAR.
Then some cat out in Cally lets it out of the bag that he backslid. Not once! Not twice like the Frenchies would call " mini ah triasing,"but in bed and out the door with three at a time, ain't no Frenchie word for that.

Hit em well.

Quite a bit of detail in either / both of the James Dodson & Curt Sampson bios; they even convinced him to do the famed commercial shoot @ Riviera [can't locate a clip of the footage, but here's a link to the relevant passage in the Dodson book]:

http://books.google.com/books?id=rDk1-nJ-NFwC&pg=PA498&lpg=PA498&dq=ben+hogan+edge+commercial&source=bl&ots=BRSgwWNjBA&sig=4FqdV0mYcN1srQtm6lrYHrGAQWc&hl=en&sa=X&ei=8_R8VOvQNcOQyATumoLgCw&ved=0CCkQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&q=ben%20hogan%20edge%20commercial&f=false

And an account of same from a Geoff Shackelford article on Riviera:

I'll keep looking for the footage [he's wearing a yellow sweater & white cap]. . .

Just don't try to serve me Lafroag. Tastes like one of your contrymen urinated through a kilo of Peat. Blends or Single Malts are fine with my rather unsophisticated palate. Chivas, J&B Rare are great whiskies imo. Neat, on the rocks, water, or soda are fine. The latter two are better for me, as I tend to drink all liquids at the same velocity. So, dilution is the solution to my avoiding pollution. The last year or so, I have become a born again rusty nail fan. (again, to avoid pollution, I add some sparkling water) Around here they are referred to a nail-draggers. you drink too many and you go neanderthal.

Good post, IO..
1. I need to be in the mood for whisky.
2. Blended = more than one = diluted.
3. Polluted = water. Fish gotta poop somewhere.

Nothing wrong with any of the Islay malts, they are, it has to be said, an acquired taste but well worth the effort. Laphroaig is one of my favorites but to my thinking has become 'gentrified' over the years (or my taste buds have become blunted).
The best reason for going to Islay is to play The Machrie. Check it out, it's a must for links lovers.

However the main reason for this post is to show some more of Scotland's finest, a recently Ebay nabbed set of John Letters Fred Daly Master Models from 1958 just before they were taken over by Slazenger.

Some will not have seen Delafit shaft to blade connections before. They are essentially spot welded into place and often have a Delafit ferrule. My PGA training and club fitting manual details how to get the shafts out..... heat is involved...a lot of it!

But nice blade profiles, plush leather grips, all ferrules & shaft labels in place, a pretty good £10 ($15) worth, I think.

I don't have these actually to hand yet (I won them on our local auction site and had them delivered to my sister-in-law in another city and - I should have them next weekend) and will post more pics when I get 'em, but am pretty pleased to get them for about $27 US. There's a bag and some (non Slazenger Hogan) woods too but I don't care too much for them. The Equalizer obviously doesn't match and there's no 9-iron but I have a Slazenger Hogan Power Thrust 9 to fill the gap in the meantime. These have popped upon these parts before and have got a pretty good reception so can't wait to get my hands on them...

I can't wait to attack them with the stainless steel bench reviver that's in the cupboard under the sink - worked a treat on that set of PCs! Just finished regripping them too - you'd hardly recognise them ;-)

Oh - and have you seen these?

Got two "new" items today. Found 2 old school leather covers in the scrap pile today. they were on 2 horrible clone metalwoods but they were pristine and match my Titleist Mini Staff bag being they are black and white. Labeled 3 and 4 but work absolutely good on my 3 and 7 woods. yep they are real leather and looked good to begin with but when I cleaned them up with Westley's leather polish and conditioner they really popped.
As I said back when I drank I would like two fingers Jim Beam with some branch water. Jim will kill anything in the branch water trust me. Now good old moonshine does not need to be diluted. As much as I used to drink I do not think I ever drank Scotch until 10 years ago and it was Dewar's with soda. Of course back in those days if it contained alcohol I would drink it

Never have been a Scotch drinker. Primarily due to a near death experience with warm Cutty Sark back in the day. Just smelling it would elicit bad flashbacks.

That said, was at a Christmas party last weekend with friends. In the crew were two notorious Scotch drinkers. Offered me some. Said no thanks, citing the above situation. They insisted, telling me that I might like this. I relinquished and was poured a wee bit (not wanting to be a ungracious guest).

Pow, Zowie. It was fantastic. They were drinking theirs neat. However, the host added a couple of ice chips to mine, being a newb. Finished it and was poured a proper amount. Wrote down exactly what I was drinking: Balvenie 12 Year Double Wood. I do not want to call it an epiphany, but it was close. Amazingly good.

Thought about picking up a bottle until I discovered it was about $60 per. Never spent close to that much on a bottle of booze in my life. I do not need something else to blow my $ on. Maybe it won't taste quite as good the next time? How do I explain this to the Mrs.?

However, maybe I could sell off a putter or two.....you know.......financing. Wouldn't really be like spending my own money.

Edit Note: excuse me for a possible thread jack. But...if I was to take the plunge, technically it would be a new acquisition. Right?

Malt whisky, with a little drop of water, just to release the oils you understand.
And Asda's (Walmart to you) finest, a generic Speyside, Highland or an Islay at a splendid $30 for 70 cls. It used to be labelled as a 12 y.o but no longer. This, it has to be said, is the Homer household cooking malt. We have others!
Happy Xmas and a fruitful New Year to all
