 Nabbed a nice $15 Ryder Cup logo’d Sunday bag after yesterday’s round.  Gonna use it for the Spalding Jones set.

Every now and then, ya order what you think are beater clubs to play and ya get something outta the box and go OH!

 

These are inexpensive resin clubs, but wow.  Wilson Walker Cup "Resolon", but condition is nearly new.  Grips are original and immaculate reminders. Shafts are spotless and heads show minimal signs of play. Minor paint loss on the sole plate of the driver.  I'm figuring late '60s, maybe early '70s?  They remind me of my first set as a 12 y/o - Northwestern Patty Berg starter set that cost me a whopping $30.  Blue plastic heads.

They arrived a couple days ago and the pictures were a bit deceptive.  7 iron shaft is noticeably bent at the hosel.  Overall condition is fair, but heads and faces are decent and no pyratone loss on shafts.  Grips need the Lexol clean and treat.  Once I get them cleaned up, I'll get them to the range for some testing.

Those reminder grips are neat. I liked them a lot more than I thought I would first time I used them. I have a few 50’s wedges with leather reminder grips

Change of direction - they're going back to the seller.  Just a little more bent and beat up that I'd really prefer for players.  They're standing behind their stuff, so no charge to me for shipping back.

I used the 5 wood in HS golf, been looking for a warbird fairway wood but most people seem to want $30+ used for them local. $10 at goodwill

Digging through all the stuff I've picked up the last few years, forgot all about these MacGregor Tourney WLDX3 persimmons. Anyone got info on these? They feel great, I'd heard Toney Penna was involved with some DX woods.

Little more Digging around realized these are DX3 and the Tourney irons I got a few weeks ago are... DX3's that worked out well!

I picked up this John Letters Silver Swan putter today, complete with period head cover which is nice.

 

But what I really like is the grip, it's not something I've seen before. It looks like a normal perforated leather wrap but when it was put on a hot plastic/glue appears to have been used which has oozed out of the perforations and then hardened creating a pimpled grip. Most of the pimples at the top have been knocked off over the years but lower down there's a lot more of them.

Picked these woods up today from favorite thrift store....Dunlop Maxfli 1, 3,4,5. The 1 & 4 wood seem most used. They are laminated, TT Dunlop Maxlite R shafts, Dunlop rubber grips w/white markings & the reg#'s are the same. I'm guessing that they are perhaps general/retail - according to Maltby, inserts are different (no screws) & the top has Dunlop not Maxfli....

I like the grip, I think it was done deliberately like that, I can't think why it would have been left like it otherwise as it'd be a simple matter to cut off the pimples.

  One of my first thoughts seeing this was this is what my pickup would look like shortly after if I was to depart unexpectedly. Morbid but a reality….LOL

came across these two #9 wedges in vintage wedge bin....never heard of the Spalding Ski-Ride irons (does the flower cleek mark have any meaning....not sure what that "C" on the toe means either)

The MacGregor shaft seems to be enameled rather than pyratone & the Spalding shaft may or may not have had a pyratone sheath that is no longer there. Both are ~52*. both have leather wraps for grips w/wood plugs at shaft end.
