I think the Volt Swoosh is a smart move. When most golfers go into a store they dont always know the name of a club or even the brand. Something like the Volt swoosh though sticks in their mind along with who plays them. I'm sure come October to next spring people will come into stores and the bright swoosh will catch their eye especially when they see it on screen behind the ball as Rory swings. I love that they put the weighting in the toe like Ping has with the I and S series. I am excited to try the Pro Combos and hopefully get them in my bag next year. Just dont tell the wife yet

Just imagining a Tiger/Rory club twirl with flashes of Volt after a perfectly struck iron. Is it 2015 yet?

I skimmed the thread but didn't see an answer, but apologies if this was answered...are the Vapor Speeds cast or forged? My guess is forged, which would keep the pattern of their current line, but just wanted to check
I'm pretty sure it was stated they were cast.

so... is RZN staying for 2015 - i would put money that it does.

still wrapping my mind around Tiger sharing the stage with Rors. the commercial last year was filmed without the two being together. having them both there for IRONS is impressive, NIKE or not there are some ego's involved.

i want to see the new line of woods!

I don't mind the look of the backs of these bad boys one bit!

I think there is a purpose here and while having not read all of the posts in this thread, I know some have touched on it. They ARE SUPPOSED TO BE DIFFERENT guys, Nike WANTS this product to stand out. They are stating they have redesigned the blade or perfected the blade, so why would they want it to look like a traditional blade which every Tom, Dick and Harry on the course knows haven't really changed in 40+ years.

Think about, if some golfer is sporting these in his bag and on the first tee someone sees them they are going to ask them about them because they will take notice and they will stand out. Otherwise they just going to look like every other blade on the market and not separate themselves from others in a market where there honestly isn't much innovation or change.

Great news is for the guys that hate the look, you can't see the back of the club at all when it is over the ball! And you will probably only catch glimpses of it after you are doing a Tiger swirl of the club after sticking the pin on a par 3 with one of these bad boys.

As a good golf brand ambassador said to me tonight, "people on golfwrx are losers, they want Titleist 680's every year, re-released, anything new they hate..."

I think I heard the same type of comments in the 915 ARC pre-release, the BB Alpha Forum, the I25 racing stripes, the G30 turbulators, the Covert red, and whatever else I have seen LOL.

We will see the reviews the first week of November on WRX saying:
"How amazing they play"
"Don't even notice the colour scheme"
"How etc. etc. etc. they are...."

My point is that Nike did what they wanted to do, have 30,000+ views on WRX, trend on Twitter, and be all over social media...Nike again proves why it leads in the hype machine and dominates in sport...it's not their products, although the RZN Black and Covert are phenomenal....

I will stick with my 714's, but good for Nike....relevance is key....

How many people do you see playing Nike irions?

Hype does not always translate into sales.......

Love to know how much consumer testing was done with these items in terms of their appearance.... not a lot would be my guess.......

"we need the corporate branding or else our brand integrity will be compromised" or some such pseudo psycho BS

I see WAY more Nike irons than I ever saw of Hogan irons. I had a set of Apex Plus when they were a current release(pre Callaway) and they were the only ones I ever saw in a bad on the course.

The toe weighting looks fairly similar to these, and I'd rather hit Mizuno's any day of the week...

MizunoIron1.jpg

If you're going down that road the Mizuno weighting is a copy of the Wilson Staff Ultra 45 from the early 1990's. Not much you can do new whatever your company name is.

How's this new technology? Didn't Ping Eye from 80s have a high toe design to move the weight more toward the center? Or it could be Eye 2.

I understand this is a iron release, but how's this revolutionary?
I think it's more or less about the category of a 'blade' even though there does appear to be a cavity in the backs of these. Call 'em what you will, but these aren't exactly blades, not CBs either.

It is greatly appreciated that Nike went with a high price point, it is bad for the industry as a whole when prices start too low or drop too fast (cough TM cough)

Here are some irons 'fresh' from The Oven plus Tiger's protos off the line.

Giddyup.

Hip, did you hit any of these irons tonight?
Sure did. It was very dark despite the lighting.

I liked really everything about the Pro Combos. Surprisingly easy to hit and I could hit a consistent draw. Tried the 5, 6, 9 and wedge.

Hit the Speed as well. Forgiving and just straight.

I talked to Nike about Speed 4-5 and Pro Combo 6-P but they insist pro Combos are so much better than before even Fallon could hit them (11 hcp).

Did not hit blades. That's Zak's job :)

I'm guessing Rors won't be putting these in the bag until next season...
Rors played the MMProto 2 iron first at the Scottish then The British. Rory's last 4 shots (excl putts) to win the Open were struck with the proto 2.
