Angela Bennett, wife of Matt Kuchar caddie Lance Bennett, dies unexpectedly

"Angela Bennett, the life of veteran PGA Tour caddie Lance Bennett, died suddenly on Wednesday. Her death was from natural causes, according to a report on PGATour.com, though no other details were announced. "This is a very difficult time for our family, but we appreciate the outpouring of love and support from the caddies, players and entire golf community," Bennett said in a statement released by Mark Steinberg of Excel Sports. Bennett is world No. 4 Matt Kuchar's caddie, and Steinberg is Kuchar's agent. "Sybi (Kuchar's wife), the boys and I are sending our thoughts and prayers to Lance and (Bennett's 4-year-old daughter) Emma Grace during this devastating time," Kuchar said in a statement. "Angela was a cherished friend, a wonderful wife and a loving mother who made a major impact on all who were lucky enough to know her, and she will be greatly missed." The caddies at this week's Deutsche Bank Championship will hand out black caps for players and caddies to wear during the first round on Friday as part of their tribute to Angela. Kuchar is still planning to play in this second FedExCup playoff event, with Brian Reed substituting for Bennett, according to the Golf Channel."

I spoke with a family friend of Lance's who knew more details about Angela's death and while she had had seizures in the past no one said that they were related to epilepsy. So, while it was of natural causes I think the speculation by the golf media on what was the cause of death should be tempered to reporting only the facts that are released in fairness to the family. Sadly, that won't happen. Report 1st, get it correct 2nd.

So sad. One of my good friends in high school passed away in his sleep our senior year because of epilepsy, it was terrible.

Sorry, I should have mentioned in my earlier post that I read on the Golf Channel website said she died "suddenly". Then another report said "natural causes". Doesn't sound like they have the story straight yet. I've never heard of someone dying suddenly from natural causes. Maybe I'm over looking a sudden natural cause. Just struck my as curious.

A heart attach is sudden and a natural cause of death and many other conditions, meningitis ect would fall into this category.

Regardless of cause, very sad when someone young dies and leaves children.

See passed away from a Seizure. Like a heart attack, it can be sudden and is sometimes defined as 'natural', in a very broad definition of natural causes. I think some people's definition of natural causes tend to be more about old age rather than a young person with an illness.

Either way, it's a very sad loss for her family and I don't think anyone will disagree with that. Hopefully everyone who reads this thread will allow her and the family to be in their thoughts and prayers.

?? A heart attack or stroke is "natural" and "sudden".

"Natural" just means not drug, accident, suicide, or homicide related.

Just lost our 11 year old daughter 2 weeks ago. Death comes unexpectedly. Sincere condolences to all here who have lost a family member. Losing a child or losing the mother of a child - what can be more devastating. I found this very helpful.

I found Angela Bennett's Facebook page......what a beautiful young woman she was! I feel so sad for this young family.
