Did a little dremel project on my Flex this weekend... After getting in the tour issue Speed/Flex 3 wood with the silver face, decided my driver needed to match. For some reason the silver is easier for me to line up.

 

Pretty happy with the results!

The black scotchbrite one, use the low setting to strip the black off and then use the less that low setting where its on very minimal power to smooth it out.

Not sure, it came in a combo pack from Dremel. There is a grey one and a black one, I think the black is a little softer.

Looks good man. Couldn't agree more about black faces getting marked up. I wish everyone would just use silver faces.

Finally got a chance to hit the Flex, and holy sh*t! Best sounding and feeling driver I've hit in a long time, and I hit a lot of drivers. The one I swung had the Kuro Kage Tini 60X, and it was a great combo. I only hit in indoors on a monitor, and don't 100% believe in GolfMart's numbers, but I was consistently deep and straight. I grabbed an R15 430 with a Speeder 661x to see if the monitor was just spitting out crazy numbers, but I was missing left with the R15, and it was 10-15 yards shorter. Went back to the Flex and it produced the same numbers as before. I'm not a fan of the price, but I'm considering selling all my non-gamers and buying one.

I agree with those videos a lot. While I didn't seem to find any trouble hitting the Flex I think it is because I don't stray too far from the center too often, but I felt when I did go a little bit away from it the ball still carried almost as far with a slightly altered flight. Those shots were still finding fairway, it was crazy good. The Vapor Pro is the only other one I hit, but that was amazingly good as well with the feel and sound I thought. The fly brace tech they put in the driver does make it feel better than the other drivers. That hollow feel he talks about with most modern drivers is not prevalent at all with these Nike products and I don't even like hitting those other drivers as much now because of that braced feel. Nike has certainly done a great job.

Some of my thoughts on the vapor drivers -

i couldn't get along with the speed b/c i'm a high spin player - the feel was still very very solid but i ditched it to hit the pro/flex drivers.

being high spin, i went to the pro first...hit it with the fujikura pro 73TS, then the speeder 757 evo 7.2...both shafts worked great, however the speeder was better for me. the driver is long, more-forgiving than the R15 430, and sounds/feels a lot better as well. - i hit the flex with the fuji pro and got better numbers with the vapor pro...so i neglected to go with the flex.

...then i hit the flex with the speeder 757...game. over. i played the back nine on sunday with this pairing (just for sheets and geegs) and the first word was "wow". mid flight, boring trajectory bombs. i hit EVERY fairway on the back nine and saw parts of the course i haven't ever reached. i'm not going to say it's a holy grail b/c i could very well be in the honeymoon phase, and i admit, it could be possible...but this pairing is something truly unique. i could hit the ball both ways, change the trajectory and more than any other pairing i've had...i could either lean on it and REALLY pound it (still going straight) or i could lay off and play a type of shot i envisioned.

How nike isn't getting more credit - especially in the technology in the flex head - is beyond me. this is coming from the consumer side of me...not the fitter/rep side. i've hit the 915D3/2, the R15/TP, DBD, BA, srixon, cobra...

the numbers were always close but, nothing to me, has felt this good.

I just got the speed 3 wood and love it. Surprised how low it goes (i like that.) I felt a lot more consistent with the speed than the flex....It is a little larger and that was eye opening when hitting it off the deck. Overall I love it. It has been the only 3 wood to get me to sell my 07 TP Burner.

For the hybrid, I got the speed without hitting it and to be honest. I have not loved it. When i hit it well, it is about the same distance as my 910. The 910 is A LOT more consistent. i am going to take it back and trade it in for a flex and see how that goes.

I hope this helps...I am about a 7 HC with an awfully quick (too quick) swing....(90% of the reason i am inconsistent )

I hit the flex and pro. I haven't hit the speed.

My SLDR was going 263 yds almost every single swing while the pro was going 230 yds. The SLDR distance is pretty accurate with on course conditions as well. I was talking to my buddy at the golf shop I buy everything at and he said, I wasn't spinning the pro enough. I'm not buying the flex because that price point is a killer. My question is, Do you guys think the Speed will give me the spin I need to get the distance close to my SLDR?

Try lofting up? If the launch angle isn't good and the ball doesn't carry you may need more loft to get the ball in the air. I wouldn't think the Vapor Pro spins less than the SLDR.
