I can't wait to get my 58K and 62T vokey to go with my 54F grind. I tried the 60K but had a lot more success with the 58K (not sure why). What a difference more bounce made on my full swing. I have always played low bounce and Stricker grinds but bounce is my friend now!!!

Hit the Nike Vapor Flex today against the DBD....was really curious to see how it would do based on Pure's review. I would say, it felt noticeably better, but the forgiveness of the DBD was better. Comparing my best drives, I'd also say the DBD was better.

Had to do the comparison, especially since he had written off the DBD early on in his testing. Just goes to show different strokes for different folks...
I'm a huge DBD fan... Love the feel, and for me, quite forgiving for what it is. I couldn't find the right shaft combo, so DBD ended up losing to G30 LS/DI combo.

In true WRX fashion, I mad fiddle more with DBD down the road... She's a beast.

What are some thoughts on the TPC of Michigan?
It has been about 10 years since I have played it. It is a nice course. Fun layout and I found very scoreable - unlike the other two TPC courses I have played.

Anyone have any good grip recommendations? Finally getting around to taking the clubs out of storage and i forgot how worn my grips were from last year. I used the Iomic Sticky Opus 3 grips the last two years which were good, but looking for something a little more budget friendly. I don't like the full cord grips, FYI.

Also, for any guys with large hands do you usually go mid-size grips or just build up the layers of tape under the standard grips? The selection of mid-size grips is very limiting.

Same thoughts here. I played it once late in the season courtesy of a supplier invite.

I use the Winn dri-tacs. They are easy to find in midsize. I don't like cord grips either. They tend to tear my hands up over the course of a season.

Immensely surprised more student ticket packages aren't offered like they did for the Rose Bowl last year! Can only offer so many cheap tickets though. Indy has to rake in 70.4 million over the weekend somehow right? I'd check eBay or craigslist possibly if I were you. Best of Luck!

Try the new multi compounds, I just put one on my driver. Basically +4 wraps and then you could probably build it up more from there if you want.

Second link doesn't work but Google MCC +4. I have the grey one, looking at the website they also offer that color in "midsize".

CPP- only 2 rounds but I like it. Choke up on the driver and miss is a handsy left so made sense.

I wear a cadet xl glove and have midsize with two wraps in the older multi compound. The larger size deems to help me take out getting too handsy. People who first pick them up hate them but it works for me.

The new non taper mc looks interesting and I will probably give them a try. Seems like it would be great for a wedge and choking up.

Been interested in getting some feedback on those grips ever since we got them in stock at work. I havent put them on any clubs for anyone yet but I am interested to see what type of golfer they would work best for as the reduced taper is an interesting concept.

I hate the feel of multi compounds, as they rip my hands up, so I much prefer something softer/tackier. I currently have Winn Dritacs on my irons and will be replacing those after they fell apart after half a season. Their durability is mediocre at best. I will be replacing them with Iomic X-Evolution 2.3s. But since you are looking for something easier on the wallet I can recommend PURE pro grips. I have them on my woods, and they feel like GP tour velvet but tackier. I have tried Lamkin 3 REL which are OK. They tend to absorb a lot of oil from your hands, which I didn't like. I have only held the new super stroke grips at DSG, which are intriguing.

Fwiw I agree the multi compounds are pretty rough and I have something else on the irons for the first time in like 10 years. The new one feels significantly different than the old MC's.

I think gbone had a superstroke put on, if so that was the worst grip ever. It's got a ridge literally right where your right thumb goes on the club that feels very uncomfortable.

What are some thoughts on the TPC of Michigan?
Are you thinking about the GAM "Golf Day" event?

TPC will always be in fine condition. Late April might be a bit early to see it at its best but it will be decent. For mere mortals like you and me, the course will present a strong challenge. Lots of wetlands. A couple of holes are going to require some precise play. #14 is just plain hard. The good thing is none of the par 3 holes are beasts (i.e. 200 yards over water to a green on a peninsula). If it is the GAM event, they may set it up a bit harder than one may like. Do it. You should play there at least once and this is a good opportunity.

I signed up for a couple of events in the Bogey Golf Tour. I liked a couple of the courses, and wanted to try them out. There is a Canadian and USA chapter with some casual competition. There is one event, I think at TreeTops, where it's Ryder Cup style competition. Check the links:

Tom,

Its a Jack Nicklaus design and it hosted the Ford Senior Players Championship for 16 years. (got that from the website) Compared to other courses around here I'd call it tough but fair. No overly long forced carries or blind shots but its definitely target golf. There is water on 11 holes so you can get into trouble pretty easily if your'e having a bad driving day. Overall the conditions are excellent - all the tee boxes and fairways look like they hardly get used and the greens aren't all scarred and pockmarked like a public course would be. The driving range is second to none, grass (of course) and mini-Titleist bags for ball holders! Its a pure golf club - there's no pool or tennis courts or anything like you'd find at your typical country club.

From what I understand their membership was mostly corporate back in the day so when the economy tanked they took a bigger hit than other clubs did. After a near foreclosure and a few ownership changes later their current owner (ClubCorp) has sunk some big bucks into a complete re-do of the entire inside of the clubhouse and a new roof. I went for lunch last Friday and its a pretty impressive makeover. Based on ClubCorp's other properties I fear is this may be the last year for cheap memberships though.

Any other questions just let me know.
Thanks for the info MG, it seems like a great experience to be able to play it. Being a 10 cap I imagine it may have it's way with me. Oh well, it will be a pleasure to play.
thanks, tom

EDIT: I carry my drives only about 210 and will be playing from the blue tees, will I have carry issues if I carry 200 yards?
