All Things Michigan Golf....the Mulligan (MOD EDIT: NO POLITICS, NO COVID-19, NO ECONOMICS)

I played Bald Mountain today as well in the same skins game as jroberts. It was unbelievably chilly but I managed a 73 and a skin on 12. Course was in okay shape this early in the season although I have never played it before today so I have nothing to gauge that assessment off of

3JP, love the ferrules on those bad boys. Dying to mess around with some SB1's in the future when the ho'ing funds allow it.
36 holes of Michigan golf in so far! Some windy but sunny days here in West MI but the home course was looking great. As for my game, tee shot quality has been erratic, but approach shots as far out as 200 in have been surprisingly exceptional. Excited for mowed greens tomorrow! :)
What is your home course?
The Highlands GC! Classic Donald Ross design, 5-10 minutes outside downtown GR. Private, very solid course back from the 70's to around 2005, fastest greens in the state is what the older members always say (kept at a consistent 13), opened to the public early 2000's and the condition went to horse sh*t, but a new superintendent as of last year had it looking awesome and the greens rolling well the past summer. Excited to see how it plays this season! Not too wet at all out there in most cases, and greens were probably rolling at about an 8. It's actually hosting a WMGA two day event in June, the Shipman Classic.

Sweet, pretty interesting. Don't know anyone in my area using one (GR area). Definitely great being able to see all the components of the swing.

It definitely looks like a cool tool, but I'm not sold that it'll translate into tremendous improvement. I don't think for most of us the problem is a lack of information or knowledge about what we're doing wrong (especially those of us who get regular instruction), but how do you fix it, and once that's identified, actually having the time to work on it.
here's where i disagree... everyone is out there hoing shafts based on Trackman numbers....Trackman cannot not measure ANYTHING to do with the club physically... it is a ballistic tool. it will tell you many things about what the golf ball is doing, but nothing about what the club is doing.
Gears will tell you shaft deflection, droop, handle speed compared to clubhead speed, where you are hitting it on the face (without tape, and accurately) dynamic lie at impact.
Not to mention the visual side of being able to see/correct/ and feel body positioning etc. LIVE.

That's interesting, I hadn't considered how it could be used as a fitting tool.

Guys if you could, can you post where you are playing so I can track what is open? I'm hoping to get a round in when I'm up there in two weeks.
For the area you visit, I know Hampshire is open.
Milham is open in Kalamazoo (walking only)
I am not sure about Lake Michigan Hills.

I imagine most places will be open with current 10 day forecast. It will just be a crap shoot on weather for that weekend. I might be interested in playing that weekend (Easter).
Sounds good. I'll probably try Lake Michigan Hills because my golf group in May want to use it as a warm up round for the weekend. Saturday is probably my only open day.

I don't think we'll ever get it back to where it was being that we support hacks in athletic shorts and a muscle tank to come play now. The owner is a bit cheap which caused the public transition in the first place, now he takes just about any tee time he can get. On the bright side the course is still alive and well, and 20 bucks to play 18 in a cart for the rest of the month and possibly longer :)

In case anyone was worried or concerned... The driver battle has come to a close and the winner has bend ordered!

The battle came down to my current gamer, BC+ with DI, Big Birtha 815 DBD with PX LZ Hand Crafted (sweetest driver and shaft name combo in the history of golf, period!), and G30 LS with DI.

BC+ was knocked out first, as both new sticks were much more consistent for me. Numbers were good, which is way it was in the bag last season, but I was hitting way more fairways with Callaway and Ping.

DBD won on club head and ball speed (only by 1-2 mph), feel and looks. Plus did I mention I'm a fan of the name?

G30 won on over all distance, smash factor, launch/spin and consistency. Plus, we think when we get proper swing weight (D3, not the D8 of the demo head), my club head speed should jump 1-2 mph, and with better smash, and beat the DBD ball speed.

So, long story short, Ping G30 LS Tec with Tour AD DI 6, set to 9.6 is on order and securely on the team for 2015!

Welcome to the G30LS Party. I am rolling with the AD DI 7s and really like so far - I flew one 248 into the wind yesterday in 40 degree temps. That is a pretty solid poke for me. Flight reminds me of the SLDR, but so much more forgiving.

I like mine too. I don't have it dialed in at all, I've been hitting it low on the face, need to cut the rogue down, want to try with DI, but can't complain about what I've been shooting. I wish the forecast wasn't so crappy my gf is heading out of town for a week and I'd love to play until dark every day. Pretty much everything around A2 is open and country clubs this week.

Welcome to the LST club, GB. I'm not sure how anyone hits it and doesn't instantly fall in love (unless they need more spin). The combination of forgiveness and distance is way beyond anything else out there IMO. The swingweight on mine is a little light playing it at 44.5" (it's D1 with both shafts), so I'm probably going to get a heavier weight (I took mine out, and it looks like it has a 6g one in there now) to bring it up to around D3.

I would keep it, but I had two others that I've been looking for (one for a year, and the other for 4+ years) fall in my lap all within a week after getting this one. So it has to go...
