Did the clubs end up helping improve your game, overall? I've had the fortune of seeing them and playing with you, so I have my own take and observations. Curious how you felt about what you were fit into, other than them being rare and a tour issue iron head. Any reason you didn't hit multiple driver shafts? Were you guys kind of rushed along or anything?
I'm really past the "LM is king" kind of equipment vetting. One day's 5-10 yard gain isn't always there the next day.
That conversation is best suited for either a PM discussion or the original Oven trip thread. Please keep this thread ON TOPIC and in regards to the Vapor trip only.
You guys try to steer every conversation on here in a cheerleading fashion.
If we have questions about their last trip and the fitting, wouldn't that be applicable to trip #2?
I can PM with G all day. I know him. I am looking for the perspectives and experiences of all those who were again chosen for this trip.
I am attempting to understand the last experience so that I can understand this one as well. I think many are probably interested.
The Vapor trip is going to the same fitting facility, right? The Oven?

Yeah, rhetorical question, holmes.
I'd like to know the contingency plan if there's a strong head wind.

Your question has been clearly answered as bjackson politely explained - this thread is to discuss the current Oven Experience.

This will now be the third request to keep this on topic.

Another way to look at it is, with the same group going back, I'm looking forward to the direct comparison over last years equip and i may be able to make a better educated decision on whether the Vapor line is better than the covert 2.0 line. Still somewhat subjective obviously but if Pure gets past the honeymoon phase w the vapor, I'll put some stock into it.
I'm hitting the CT 2.0 with the Elements Chrome. I'll be putting my Vapor Pro against it and posting results.

Back to the topic.. I am very honored and appreciative to return to the Oven on behalf of GolfWRX and will do everything possible to represent GolfWRX and our members as best I can. My game and bag have changed a few times since our last trip to the Oven, I have done a full bag fitting and build by Cool Clubs and I will be comparing the Vapor line against a set that has beat out my previous Oven bag by a fairly significant amount, the VR irons did get 2nd to the 714 MB/CB's in my fitting, but the rest was not very close. I have been very transparent with my reviews and posts that show "on-course" and Trackman data and I feel that my current bag is a great benchmark for me to test the new Vapor lines against. I am very excited to try the new line and more excited to share my feedback with the WRX community, good or bad, it will be posted :)

Thank you GolfWRX, thank you Nike.. :smilie_nike: Shane and George, you guys will be missed :drinks:
I'm just really curious:
How do you go to the same facility that fits Nike staffers and come away with a bad fitting? To the point another 3rd party fitting seriously out-performs what you were fit for at the Oven? It just doesn't seem like something adds up? Having hit enough gear in the last decade+, when fit, most companies are pretty close to one another. This sounds too much like marketing we're getting out of various companies. Yards gained and quarterly profits can't go on forever.

Do you guys get fit into what you think you want/is cool/maybe tour issue and not avail to the public when you go to this thing?
Or do you get fit into what they recommend as best for your game with the data to back it?
Do you get the "hot shafts" everyone is talking about, or accept it if a "ho-hum" less exciting/new shaft performs fine during the fitting?
Divots - I'm going to answer this, as I trust that you actually want to know and are not throwing out backhanded off-topic replies that I have read more often than not in this thread. Did you read my Shootout thread? Just curious. The "3rd Party" is a place that fits and builds for tour pros such as Phil, Kaymer, Stallings, Kuchar etc. so it's not like my Oven driver got beat by a fitting at the PGA Super Store. The fitting processes were way different. The fitting at Cool Clubs was 2 hours with access to multiple brands of shafts and multiple OEM heads, and the ability to interchange them all. The Oven fitting was maybe 30 minutes or so, with only Nike products to choose from. On paper, yes, in theory you should be able to dial in any driver into certain numbers.. yes, you should. The main difference is that my fitting at Cool Clubs found multiple driver setups with acceptable numbers and then was dialed in as to which driver had the best dispersion and was the most playable. Some drivers just fit people different and suit their games better, the Covert was just not for me, much like the Ping G25 is not for me. It may work for you or others, but not for all.. just like Nike models may work better for some than others. My numbers were really good with the Covert I hit at the Oven, but the club I got was much different than the Oven club for some reason, and just didn't work out for me on the course.

When I was fit for the Covert Tour 1.0, I had acceptable numbers with the BB and the Tour Spec and basically had the choice between the two. I chose the Tour Spec (cheaper, less cool) just so that I had an apples to apples shaft setup with my 913D3 I took to the Oven. Also, there were 5 of us getting fit, I'm not sure the same guy who fits their top tier PGA guys was fitting all of us. That all said, I am very excited for this experience and plan to do my best to represent WRX for the members who are actually interested in Nike's new Vapor line.

Some of these questions are perfectly legit, considering the same people are going. People are going to want to know how much different these new products are compared to the previous offerings. Is the new stuff that much better? maybe or maybe not. This might be the closest any of the Oem's can prove the new product it better than the past. Will these guys see improvement? Maybe.

This thread really doesn't mean anything until these guys go on the trip. I'm glad they get to go again. I just hope that they will be able to compare the old models to these.

That is 100% my plan, not only to compare it to both Covert and 2.0 models, but also the driver that beat out all of last year's other drivers. Hoping to see the new irons and parts of the rest of this line so I can report back on that as well. Thanks for the post, D.

Pure- you going to take the one you were fitted into while there this time? I think that is a must. Have to this time if they let you.

Guys enjoy it and let us know feedback.

Also please ask about other color options instead of the volt on the crown swoosh. I have heard two different answers to this.

Thank you.

And I hate you all two consecutive years. ;)

I cleaned up this thread. Removed double digit posts that were about why we picked members here that went to the nike oven a year ago. This thread is not about the right or wrongs of who went. This is about the experience of the trip itself.

We picked this group because we thought it would be interesting to hear from the same guys that went before. Some of them didn't switch to the nike woods and this could add to a story if they switch because the Vapor line is improved.

Please do not come in here and campaign the wrongs of the selection process. We will warn and delete going forward. This is a promotional experience for us and nike and not a rules or process discussion.

Ahhhh!!! Very jealous of the guys that get to go to this trip! I get why some might be upset there aren't new faces going, but I know I'm never lucky enough to get to go to any of these, and if it's not going to be me going, I'd be hard pressed to find members I'd rather see go than the ones that are going. They did a great job last time taking pictures, asking Nike the questions we were asking them to, showing and explaining to us all the equipment they got and why, and even providing long term reviews of whether the clubs worked out or not. As a forum member who can't be there, isn't this exactly what you'd want from the trip?

Anyways, have a good time to those who are going. I can't wait to see pics of the Vapor line and the Oven itself. And don't forget about putters!! There's a lot of people on this site that want to know why a certain putter hasn't been released yet and if/when it will be!!

Wanted to request as many videos as you guys can handle. That is always my favorite part as a reader, helps to get a bit more of a taste of the trip.

Just like everyone else I am really excited to hear about the tech in these woods vs CVT 1.0 and 2.0, VR Tour. Maybe overlooked but I am really curious about the adapter being lighter an how that happened.

And if the topic comes up tell Nike to stay away from FSU's logo!

Hope the WRX "staff" have a great time at The Oven.

When it's windy you still work through the fitting provided you can maintain your balance while swinging.

It's been windy the past couple of days but today (Wednesday) is going to be flat perfect and the forecast for Thursday looks good as well. Here is the link to the weather station located at The Oven.

Good luck guys. Don't let the downers get to you. I can't wait to hear all about it and good on GolfWRX for organising these trips in the first place. Definitely looking forward to seeing your thoughts on the Vapor Speed fairways compared to the current CP fairways. Head mounted GoPro would work nicely.

I can't believe some guys are mad about not being asked to go on this trip, and questioning why the first group is getting to go back this time. It's a golf website, not a study club. We are lucky enough to be able to hear about these guys' experiences at the Oven. What seperates them from the rest of us? I know that I definitely don't contribute to threads like Tai, I'm more of a lurker who puts his two cents in there. These guys went on the last trip and created a thread that is probably the best, if not one of the best, threads this site has seen. I am envious as well, but I'm not going to b**** and moan about not being able to go. I, for one, can't wait to hear their reviews, results, and see pics of the new stuff. If I could find one fault with the trip, I would love to see them fitted for ne w irons, wedges, and putter(although Tai doesn't need one).

YESSS! As someone mentioned above, would it be possible to see some of the Nike Pro staff trackman sessions if they are saved? Id like to see Rory's trackman numbers from Covert to Vapor. Can you guys please hit the different drivers with the exact same shaft and setting to see the differences in launch and spin between heads.

Id like to see some videos of Tai and the others in action as well. When they do the fitting will they allow you to use your ball choice or do they only have Nike product? Either way I am on the edge of my seat.

Obviously none of us swing like Rory, but he claimed over and over the Covert 2.0 w/ TiNi Proto was the best driver he had ever used, So can you ask if Rory is actually using the new D+ or the same TiNi Proto with D+ paint. If so, what made that head/shaft combo work better for him than his Covert 2.0 setup?

Looking forward to all the reviews and info.

Last time we adjusted heads, lofts, settings, shafts and balls to optimize launch conditions and numbers. The fittings happen organically - they are there to optimize us - but I am curious as well to the spin and launch characteristics between heads with same loft, shaft, and settings :). Wonder if the FLEX head will be in the mix. Would not doubt it is a TRACKMAN killer - and not something that is consistent as the TOUR head on the course. We shall see!
