J13's WITB: Update- FUJIKURA AXIOM

Had both 425 max and lst at one point (yes I got problems haha). The max was stupid easy to hit but was a little spinner and shorter than other setups.  LST was a great head but to be honest I recently had a poor experience with Ping and the cracked head so might be avoiding them in the future.  Stinks but it is what it is.

what shaft were you using in the ping?  And what happened with the tensei 1k?

The Tensei 1k was bringing left in so it had to go for me.  Ping had the Ventus Black 7X in it, moving to the Max LS I'm testing a few options.

Ping fan with mostly ping clubs here. Have had a not so great experience with them as well and probably will move away from them in the near future. 

 

Side note, cant wait to see the irons you've been testing. If they are what I think they are, I know they will be winners.  🙂

J13 what tool do I use to switch the weight out on my wedge? I am having the ferrule switched out, do you know if the "stock" ferrules have a collar on them? Thanks as always

Same with me and I'm just moving on now.  Kinda the straw the broke the camels back.  As for testing stuff I cannot confirm nor deny anything 😎

Stock ferrules we use are BB&F and don't have collars.   The proper tool is a hex wrench but you can use a driver wrench just hand tighten if you use it (DO NOT TIGHTEN UNTIL A CLICK) stop just before that.  Driver wrench has twice the torque and it's a torx bit not hex not it will strip the screws. I use a driver wrench all the time and just hand tighten and stop before it clicks.

As a matter of fact it's what I'm testing now.  Tried it in the Ping and wasn't a great fit so was actually going to unload it and then had to switch heads and thought I might as well try it in the Cally head and so far I'm really like it compared to the Black.

Ping has some BIG problems with cracked driver heads. Dating back to the G400 LST (cracked 4 of those) G410 LST (cracked 2 of those) and now have a G425...hasnt cracked yet..but i feel it coming any day now. 

Its annoying to have a cracked driver, always comes at an inconvenient time for me. Interested to know what you land on. Ill give it a copy.

This is the first Ping head i've cracked (hosel cracked straight through) and it's been unpleasant at best.  Haven't had time to send it in as they want me to go through a retailer which is a pain as the closest one is like 45 min from me.  Cally would have sent a replacement in a heartbeat same for some others.

that sounds like a massive pain in the A. I live about 10min from a Roger Dunn (orange county CA) so I get a loner in the meantime while Ping replaces the head. Still a pain. went ahead and just bought another G400 LST today. 2022 drivers are meh

Yeah I get that for sure.  Either way I'm moving on from Ping based on my experience.  The Cally Max LS is performing great so far

I’d say the cally max ls is better than the 425 LST.  Is this what you find too?

For me it is, yes.  I like the shape better and spin is a little lower (200rpms).  Sound and feel in stock form is definitely better but that's not as big of a deal to me as I just hotmelt everything in my shop anyway.

I was just getting the g425 max dialed in. Over/under on how long until the head cracks?

Are both of you seeing lower spin from each Cally model vs the LST? I have the TD and LST and the TD is spinning more than the LST. If I could get the TD into the LST territory I would game it because I love the sound/feel of the TD.

depending on your ss and how much you practice and what balls you practice with....but for me. 119ss, range 2x a week. play 1.5x a week...9-10 months

Ive hit and tested both but only indoors so I don't count that.  I will probably be grabbing the Cobra at some point to compare on course in the real world.

The LST was a little higher spinning for me than the LS setup so the TR allowed me to get a better trajectory.  I've been on the road a lot recently so haven't played or tested much.  I'm still toying around with combo's and such so once that's set I'll do a little write up.  Basically the Black isn't 100% out yet but the TR is definitely in the lead.

Any suggestions for drivers that are right biased?  I thought the stealth + with weight in the toe would work for me but I need more than that. Meaning a different club....thx.

Mizuno G delofted and weight in the toe. If that doesn't work ........

Callaway Epic Speed Triple Diamond was one of the most fade bias heads I've hit.  Also heard the Cobra LTDx LS is very fade bias.
