Sorry Catchy, I'm a rather left brain* sort.  I'm an accountant, was an advanced math student as a youngun, and have data nerd/analyst tendencies.

No worries, s'all good!

I just love that Chevy Chase meme, because it sums up how I feel when the talk gets too technical. I mean, it's interesting, it's probably very useful, but it'll take me a day or two to catch up😁

So recently decided to go back to my W/S FG59’s. The newer W/S tour blades have been sold and moved on already. I can just hit the FG59’s a lot better and they feel more solid. Another failed attempt to move on!

They are some of the most gorgeous grinds put to golf clubs. They look like Art. Mine get a Silencer bag. None of my other sets have that privilege, they look that good. I do have sets in boxes but I have a bunch sharing a bag or a piece of carpet. The eye candy factor on these is off the scale. Pictures do not really capture that either.

Performance wise they are really good. Super solid feeling. Real pleasure to get all leaned in and nut. I might have had them permanently in the bag if I did not do better with other shafts. They beat out Ping BP at a Demo Day for me though. Would love to go back to back with the Miura BB and these. Same shaft, go!

Winter tinkering got the best of me. Finally put some shafts in the heads. Went a bit patriotic this time with some Patriot Z grips and Clover Flag iron covers. Yes, iron covers, for the first time in my life. Fight me!  It’s just so if I ever play them I can look at myself in the mirror every time I hit a bad shot. 😁

They are sweet irons for sure!

Curious as to why you left the paint fill on just those 2 irons.

The original owner before me did that work.  I bought these off somebody after we negotiated a fair price.
I really hated using my original set to pound range balls.  Now I have two.
I do like the dark paint fill he used. I was thinking of removing the off white paint fill on my originals.

Yeah, I didn't think that was by choice. I agree with the dark though, that does look great.

I am definitely not OCD so I dig this random paint fill.

went in to get custom fit yesterday and it was absolutely eye opening, the fitter had me hitting a t200 and some apex pros and i was hitting a 7 iron 195 carry, he said to me and i quote "your hitting it good enough to move into blades" so sure enough went through the new apex mb's blueprints and mp20s and landed on the 620 mb/cb combo, i was carrying the 7 iron 185 and it had under 50 sidespin and was on the center line almost every shot, they were also surprisingly forgiving, I caught a few way off the toe or pretty far off the heel and i lost maybe 8 yards at most. Ended up going with 4-7 in cb and 8-w in the mb with project x 6.0 and some yellow and black multi compounds, they should be in the first week of march.

Can’t go wrong with muscle backs. If your an actual golfer. I’ve had Pings and all kind a of cavity backs. Some of the CB’s today are basically blades.  The muscle backs offered these days are just fine and way easier than yesterday’s blades of the pre 90’s and earlier era

Blades are life, ice cold, crisp, decadent, marsels of joy. CB's is just room temp beer. And not the crisp kind, more like that IPA bong water stuff.

Speaking of disgusting CB's, I picked up a set of components to build for a co-worker that are just like lego duplo MP54's. Not the most terrible looking for a chunky stainless gob of iron. Only iron I had in the room for size reference were the Macgregor's, that still sit unshafted. One of these days...I'll finish that project.

Fg59's are like a blessing and a curse to a confirmed blade ho.  A blessing because no matter what new fling you have you know you can always fall back on them and a curse because no matter what new fling you have you know you WILL always fall back on them.  😂

Never a truer statement my friend, but temptation always gets the better of me and makes me want to try and normally the buy the latest (not necessarily the greatest!)

I just sold all the set's of blades that I had lying around to fund a new purchase of, you guessed it, more blades! I was playing the last generation Cobra MB and went to the P760's to see if I could handle not hitting blades and to try the MMT 105s shafts that came with them. I loved the shafts but it is tough for me to look down and see all that offset. I went all in and got the Rev 33's since it is about the best looking blade shape wise I have laid eyes on. Right now they are in Florida getting the MMT's put in and they will be my dream set once complete.

Definitely cannot wait to see these pics...

I couldn’t resist getting a second set of Apex MB in raw. I love these clubs.

Just got a set as well. The ball speed is just silly on these things. Hit a few 235-240 carry 4 irons yesterday around mid 140s ball speed. So easy to hit even though the long irons are miniscule. Dare I say I actually find them a bit easier to hit than my 745s in the long end? Could be the thin sole. So easy to get to the back of the ball. Are yours oiled? They look nice with the white paintfill removed as well.

The set pictured I bought in this condition, I am not the original owner.  He did fill the paint in with Black, after some use it has started to go away and the off white original color does creep through.  I agree completely on these clubs are much easier to hit solid and longer than the appearance gives.   I bought these because they have Modus 120 X shafts which I was fitted for.  But my original set has DG TI 120 S400.   Not seeing a real big difference in the performance between either shaft.  I can curve the S400 a bit more.  I'm happy I have both sets though.  Was drooling over these when they came out.  Sold a bunch of watches to buy my first set.   Found a nice deal some years later to buy the second set.    Enjoy them.  The 2021 look great as well

Agreed. The long irons are tiny - and the raw finish makes them look even smaller. They are some of the softest irons I've ever hit. I put them on BST because I found a set of like new z745 for ridiculously cheap, but I'm just going to keep both sets now. I don't know if there is a better blade out than the Apex MB. Having hit the 2021 in a fitting, I much prefer this one.

Considering putting these in CLR to strip off the patina and start a new one. Anyone done this before? Any mixture you can spray on to get a solid uniform patina going after?
