What Did You Shoot Today? (Continuation)

I was almost happy today with my game.

Played the front nine 7 pars and two birds for a 33, played the first 4 holes on the back all pars with good chance at bird. Then got greedy and tried to over reach on my driver on a down wind par 5 as I wanted to try and get home in two. Spanked it out of play, the stroke penalty left me with my first bogey of the day. Then I teed up a ball on top of a pencil and hit it to the right side in the rough, standing behind the ball it looked like two trees with no opening. First tree was 6 foot in front of me, the next tree was 10 foot away and on a slight angle, I have a 2 foot window and a 110 yds to cover. I take a 6 iron for a punch and my cart buddy heads for trees to hide behind, I hit the ball too good, miss the hill in front of the green and am 25 yds past the green. Chip on and lip the putt, bogey #2, next hole a par 3, hit a terrible shot no other way to say it, decent chip and a lipped out putt, bogey #3. I hit a good drive and a bump and run 8 iron to 10 foot, hit the putt through the break and make the come back putt for Par. Bleeding stops. Last hole, 480 yd par 5. HIt a fair drive to 230 yds to the green. Punch a low 3 wood hook to the edge of the green, get that one up and down for bird.

Recap, 3 birds, 3 bogeys and 12 pars for an even par round of 72. Pretty happy with the ball striking and putting on the day, just a three hole loss of focus.

2 doubles
6 pars
6 bogeys

Independence Golf Club in Va

Won 100$ with the birdie on 9 from some new thing they have with a company called BagAnAce. You can bet $5 to win 100$ for biride, 250$ for 1 foot to the hole or $1000 or something for an ace. They have a high def camera facing the green to verify.

That's what happens when you're old and post past you're bedtime.
13 pars
Unfortunately the double came on 18 and spoiled what would have been a PB.

74 last weekend at TPC Scottsdale Stadium including a near ace on the 16th
3 birdies 9,13,16 near misses on 15 and 17 which would have made a very special back 9. 1 double 3 bogies

Today for just the second time since I had my hips replaced almost 3 years ago
Even par 72 at Southern Dunes 6902 yards rating 72.4
3 birdies all par 5s
3 bogies including the 18th ruining what would have been my first under par round on the new hips not sure to be happy over the even par or bummed that had my tee shot been a yard further left I would have had an approach from 160/fairway vs bunker from 190 over water.

1 under 69 with a double . Made 5 birdies which is a lot for me average about 3 per round . Wish I had today's swing going tuesday at the U.S. Open qualifier

13/14 fairwAys
12/18 greens
and 1 two putt birdie on. Short par 5

My entire group played awesome in relation to our caps and I think we were all feeding off each other . Had a nice $25 Nassau with autos .

25 with auto's? That gets expensive quick if your game goes south. ;)

That's a pretty standRd Match with my circle of guys at the club . Sometimes we even pump it up a little .more . My club is known for action . We have a couple of huge tourneys one in July and one in September . I love it . The more on the line the better I play

Played Saturday and shot a 96 which is quickly becoming average for me. I started the season averaging 110. IMO I did not play as well as I have been lately. I couldn't drive the ball consistently and my putting was atrocious. I had 7 or 8 three putts for a total of 44 putts. That is about 10 putts over my average. On the good side I hit 9 GIR! I usually hit no more than 3. My goal this season is to break 90 - I feel like I'm getting close!

Played for the first time in over a month today, and boy did it show. Of course, this is the round when I give the Game Golf App a shot, so all the humiliation is available online. Went 42-38 = 80 (+9) at San Juan Hills in cloudy/windy conditions with 4 doubles, 3 bogeys, 1 birdie, and an eagle (hole out). Putter was really hot and cold with 4 different 3-putts but drained hole saving putts from outside 10 feet on 4 occasions.
Fairways = 10/15
GIR's = 10/18
Putts = 34

Hopefully I will be able to get out and play more often soon.

If you want to see the carnage, here it is... I hope.

Bogie-bogie-bogie finish for a 79... first time breaking 80 in years since focusing on work. Thought I may be close to personal record but fell apart coming in when the rain started. Feels great to break into the 70s again though. Going to be a great summer!

This is my personal best as I just installed an Oban Kyioshi Purple stiff 55 gram shat in my PING G30 LS and I just couldn't miss the fairway. Incredible as I did miss 2 on the back as I was getting tired and a little sloppy but did manage a birdie on one of my misses. Par 71 and I shot an amazing 69. Hit 12/14 fairways and 14/18 GIR.with 30 putts. I was in a zone had 4 birdies 2 boogies and 12 pars

I am not great by any stretch but this is my second week winning out of my weekly group so I am really happy with it. I am Jeff by the way for what it's worth. He only marked the first hole with putts but I proceeded to end up with 15 putts.

edit: second week in a row, I've racked up a few more wins. Dan usually shoots 3-5 over so he's always the one I am trying to beat.

Happy to check in today...only my 2nd round since the begining of May. I played a to early..and was playing pretty well. we had some weather problems, then got busy with end of the year school stuff and finally I had a back flair up. That being said Memorial day weekend I shot a solid 83..which could have been better but I was really happy after the time off...Then Monday my back flared. I could hardly walk so I didn't even think about playing. The only thing I have done in May is work on putting..which I have a new putter, and a pro gave me a quick tip for my stroke..and I love it. Feels much better. So I finally feel good, have good weather and have time to play. I had no expectations. I have been working out pretty hard so I was hoping to see some distance benefits from that(which I did last time out). That was all I was looking for. Well my driving was not good from the start..I hit 2 fairways but I never got in to much of a bad spot..I just wasn't hitting my normal drive. More direction than anything else. So I start on 1...and miss left on a dogleg right..add 50 yards or so to the hole. I had a about 186 to the hole...I hit a 6 iron. I carried it about 210..which is huge for me. I usually would hit a knock down 5 wood from here, and a full one for 210to 220. So i step up to lag putt to hopefully get a par to start. I drill the birdie from somewhere in the neighborhood of 50-60 feet. (26.5 full strides)..good start! I then birdie of 2 of the next 3. I end up with 6 birdies (most ever). 3 of which were bombs..my 50+ footer, another one from around 40 and another from around 20 (on 18). I could only wish this was how I would putt from here on out. Regardless, I had my seasons best, tied my best 18 ever, and broke par for the 2nd time on 9. I finished 35-39 for 74.

I did not keep a total score as I was just playing my favorite holes. On my best holes, I average a bogey to double bogey as I three putt a lot and have God awful chipping.

On this hole, the 15th, I had a drive that went into the rough about 20 yards behind a HUGE pine tree. I thought maybe I could get it over it. Take out the 56*, give her hell, and hit the very top branch. Ball comes crashing down through the limbs and lands near the trunk, about 2 yards to the right.

This gives me an open, but very tight shot to the pin about 35 yards away (GPS). I couldn't hit a wedge as I suck with them and I had low hanging branches. So I take out my 7 iron (which I have NEVER chipped/pitched/etc with) and said "screw it, worst I'll do is overhit it".

Take a swing, ball hits the edge of the green, and off she rolls...........right into the cup! My first birdie ever. Needless to say I saved the ball and took a photo where it was. Might seem trivial to some, but that's an accomplishment for me considering I started last year with a best round in the 140's!

Shot personal best 70. 5 birds and 3 bogeys. Missed a short birdie putt from 3 feet but made a 70 foot bomb for birdie so can't complain. Got up and down a lot today. 26 putts. Very enjoyable round. Stress free for the most part. Best I've played in 4 months.

Nice little 75 today. I was so solid on the front, 1 bird, 1 bogey, 7 pars, just solid. I was happy I brought it in even, then let myself kinda relax starting the back and made bogey on 10-11-12, then righted the ship with pars in.

I am hitting my irons so good right now.

Oh yeah, no 3 putts today either.
