Shot an 80 today. Didn't hit the ball off the tee well at first - I had a serious case of the lefts. Finally figured it out and started hitting great tee shots. Unfortunately I had bad luck putting and having trouble coming up with a reliable way to hit 100 yard shots. My handicap is now trending to a 12.0.

What's the issue with 100 yard shots? If you want to get better, that is an area, and inside of 100, where you gotta be able to hit it within 20 to 25 feet of the hole.

Waverly has always been really good about keeping the public updated thru their site and Twitter.

 

It's a very well run course.

 

In addition to my disappointment with Hobbits this year, not giving Waverly those same dollars has been just as disappointing. Next year, I'll be back.

 

There's things I don't like about the course, but it's well run and well staffed and I've always felt they appreciate my business.

If I hit my 53 perfect and all out I can hit it 110 but it's hard when ground conditions are even the slightest bit soft. So I've been trying to hit my 49 easy and choked down to get the 95/105 distance down. I just haven't been able to figure out the backswing arc length and where to grip it yet. Just takes some more practice. That or work on not getting so steep with the 53 when I step on it.

GTT: Only thinking about changing shafts at the moment. I bought a F6 3w off the BST with an Elements Chrome shaft and it's been pretty good. So, I may try to pick up at least a driver shaft (maybe hybrids, if I'm really ambitious).

 

Of course, Srixon is releasing 765s next week, so who knows...I may want a back up set. And then there's the whole Low Tide putter inquiry I have out now. Oh, I've also had to play my 54* MD3 so much this year that the finish is wearing off...so there's that.

Still talking to Zach about the specs/price. Haven't been able to devote time to it this week, though. Daughter #2 hit a deer earlier this week so I've been dealing with that, in addition to work. Should have something together soon. I got time, though.

(belated) GTTh - Since my experiment this year with "player's" clubs didn't work the way I had hoped (they did hurt my game), I'm going to some more forgiving irons. I ditched the MP15s a couple of months ago and have been playing a set of J40 DPC. I have a set of the new JPX EZ Forged that I'm going to install Steelfiber i95s in soon. I'm thinking I will play the JPX EZ Forged this fall and see if I like them better than the J40s.

 

I've also replaced wedges - went from MD2 and a PM grind 60* to a set of SM5s. I liked the Callaway wedges except for the PM grind..just too much bounce for firm conditions. My OCD won't let me mix wedge brands so all of the Callys had to go in favor of the Vokeys.

 

I ordered a Great Big Bertha driver to try, even though I'm not really trying to replace my 815.

 

Fairway, hybrid, and putter are all pretty safe.

Accidentally broke my chromecast when moving into the new apartment, so I'm planning on picking up a new streaming device. Any preferences between roku, amazon fire stick, and chromecast? Not really sure which one to get

No preference from me Siegel. I have a Fire Stick and have used the Roku3, and it's not much of a difference to me. The Roku3 was probably a little more responsive since it has more hardware, but I don't think the Fire Stick is slow by any means.

I have Amazon Fire TV. If i recall, it has a bit more onboard memory, and maybe a faster chip than the normal fire stick.

 

I find it much more useful than my Chromecast, and I like the interface.

 

I can't say enough about SlingTV, either.

I've also seen it in the stores here, but I can't bring myself to buy 21st Amendment beers here. Too much markup. That pic was from my San Fran trip. Same with my hometown childhood Schlafly beers. They are smaller brewerys that are $9/6 in their home towns (San Fran and St Louis), but $14-15 here. Crazy.

 

Whole Foods used to have 21st Amendment at ~$10, which was nice. Not sure if they still do. Haven't seen it since I moved out of DC, since MoCo is full of commies who don't let grocery stores sell beer.
