Just shot a 74. +4 on the front, even on the back. Best score ever kinda (previous was 75 on a par 72) and best 9 hole score ever.

 

Struggled a bit on the front but everything clicked on the back. 100 yard shots weren't an issue whatsoever.

 

You have been throwing up feet scores man, congrats.

 

So what's different?

 

You figure some things out in your swing.

 

Your new course easier or it just fit your eye?

 

I shot an 80 at my old course too. The course is about the same slope as the other course I was playing all the time. I'm just striking the ball really well. The swing thought of keeping my right heel down until impact has made a huge difference. My swing is also shorter (what feels like 3/4 but probably just short of parallel). I also feel like I have a slight pause at transition - especially on my wedge shots. It's made a huge difference in my consistency and stopping big misses. I also stopped trying to fight my natural ball flight (a draw) and just embrace it. I trust that my draw is going to happen and when I want to make it cut, I typically can now. I also moved the ball more towards the center of my setup when putting. It was too far forward and I was pulling my putts. I've started lining my ball up again now that putts are actually starting on line and I'm actually draining some of my first putts now.Lol @ feet scores

 

True but 80 is still a great score.

 

Since you joined it seems you have gotten comfortable with all aspects of your game.

 

Just didn't know if it was swing related or only playing one course or a combo deal.

Thanks, Tex! It surely does help knowing when I can safely hit different clubs. Knowing that info hit driver I can carry all the trouble or if I need to hit 2 iron to stay short of some trouble. Or just hitting 2 iron when it is a really tight fairway. I used to hear "just hit 2 iron all the time" but that got me into trouble if there was a bunker like 250-260 out that I could easily have carried hitting driver. Hitting more tee shots in play (and longer since I've been hitting it more squarely) usually leaves me about 150-100 in and I'm really comfortable at those distances now - especially 150-135. But after today even the 100 yd distance is clicking.

It's on NBC, ABC, CBS, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN SEC, CSN, MASN, FS1, BTN, CBS Sports. I don't remember it on so many channels at once.

2nd straight DCGT win for a WRX Team! Stix and I won the Stableford at Rattlewood going away, 27 points and 6 ahead of the second place finisher. Pretty good ham &egg situation with matching 78's.

 

Front 9- really frustrating, had about 10 birdie looks between the two of us with nothing made. 9 straight better ball pars.

 

10- I took a way right line and flushed it wayy up the right, hit an 8 iron to 15 feet. Lip the eagle putt and tap in birdie.

11- meh. Stix got aggressive and pushed a drive into the water about 60 yards out, but wedges on and almost holes out a par putt. I played back with a 7i off the tee and wedged/2-putt.

12- Two tee shots into bunkers, sadly no sandies. One of only two skunked holes in the format.

13- My drive goes up in the left rough and leaves about 225 out. He's in the right rough but on in regulation. My blind shot is a half-layup but I hit it as hard as I can, on the perfect line. Ball releases out and ends up 12 feet to the back pin. Hole the putt for an eagle and 6 points, but more importantly a $53 dollar skin

14- we both go for the green, he's 40sih yards out in the fairway. I one hop out of the front bunker onto the front greenside rough. Up and down for birdie.

15- Really disappointing hole. Two 3 woods greenside. Stix played a pitch off a backstop but lipped his birdie, I almost hole my eagle chip out but miss a 4-footer and break the streak.

16- great shot and par by Stix.

17- He drains a 30+ foot bomb for birdie. That putt brought our back 9 score to 18.

18- sadly I'll talk about this hole. A GIR+3putt, and a teeshot OB from me. Wah.

 

Felt like I had it going a lot better than the score showed. The two holes I doubled are definitely the awkward ones on the course, and I got a couple of bad breaks. On 7 the tee shot took a cart path hop into a hazard long down the hill, and on 18 I still don't know what happened to the damn ball. It was on a perfect line but I guess it either didn't hook enough or took a hard bounce and roll into the OB grass patch just short/right of the green. Would like to have those two holes back. Mix in a topped drive on 1 and a miffed pitch on 17 and I managed to turn a great round into a merely solid one. The greens did have some aeration marks but there were a couple 5-6 footers that needed to go in too.

Back from a week at Bethany Beach. Wife and I, my daughter, son and daughter in law (for a few days) and my 82 year old parents. My son and daughter in law could only stay through Labor Day. Not much beach time for them thanks to that skank Hermine. Rain on Saturday and high winds Sunday and Monday. Tue-Fri nice beach days. Wife is recovering from multiple laser surgeries for retina tears so she couldn't carry or move stuff. My parents are starting to slow down. My mom stubs her feet when she walks now and tripped several times on the beach. My father tries to help, but he would just stop in the middle of doing whatever. He's still moving good, but gets distracted easily. Still, I am blessed they are still around and can go with us. My daughter is an angel. She did a lot of Grandparent duty this week.

 

All in all, a great time. We wish our son and daughter in law could have been down there all week, but he used up his leave on the honeymoon in April

 

No golf. Haven't played in 3 weeks now. WAAA!

This is awesome. Not only is the match wrong,but it's incredibly wrong. Like the match ended 4 holes ago and Siegel's poor soul thinks he has won it. This is nearly on the same level as the DJ Debacle.

Davechen and Siegel both are gainfully employed with jobs that require them to know advanced math. Yet they can't figure out an 18 hole match to within greater than 33% accuracy. Love it.

 

I dont think anyone put up a good score, but both Siegel and dave had a lot of good holes mixed with some stinkers. Fabb didnt play well for him, but he was a few missed 4 footers from being in it at the end. Dave was +1 on Fabb on the two holes they were playing even, which was a dagger.
