Misatttribution was a result of source memory confusion. Apologies, Sir. And, when I think of dongs, especially those one might trip over, City comes to mind. We slept in a minivan, but we never sat in a tree.

I'll take the $1k. Having made a hole-in-one does not in any way make me feel better about my life or golf game. I guess the $1k wouldn't either, but at least I'd be able to buy some new golf stuff I don't need.

I was with my Dad when he had his on #7 Newport Bay. Worst part is he can't see that far, so when I told him he made it- he didn't believe me. I'm whooping and hollering and he just thinks its rolled behind the hump in the green. When we get up there I make him look in the cup first, and there it was. Enjoyable Father Son Hug followed.

I don't know. People make hole in one's in the silliest of ways. I played with a guy who bladed one on an uphill par 3. We get up to the green and the ball is in the hole. My uncle who has played golf maybe 3 times in his life has a HIO. It doesn't make sense.

Yeah, my mom has 2. One bounced off a tree, over a cart path, and rolled up and in.

 

She has one on her home course that has a tree in the middle of the hole. I hit a wedge over the tree, She has to hit like a 3W under the tree. Rolled one in.

 

I know another schmuck or two who have them, but then, my Dad has been playing 50 years and has never had one. Lots of good golfers never had one.

 

Still, 30% seemed high.
