Played The Hob this morning with Dad. Place is in great shape. They're punching Monday, so this was like almost perfect timing. Mowed and rolled so the po was down.

 

Drove there listening to NLU about Ireland.

 

Dad, "so they just went on a golf trip and they're talking about it?"

This was about his 3rd round since finishing chemo. He played golds (5400) and I played blues (6500) and I gave him a stroke a hole except for the par 3s. A buck a hole.

 

Good match. I was -1 and one up on him heading to 8. I got a bad break there, bogeyed 9 from 150 out, middle of the fw.

 

So I was +1 coming into 10. Guess what... Jacked one into the woods. Unbelievable. Basically all day, I hit 14 250 yard baby fades but I get up on that tee and Str8 pull one dead left (the 14 includes the provisional I hit 80 yards out on 10). Legit bogey on 13. Bogey on 17 from 105 Middle fairway. 3 or 4 lip outs.

 

Nice putting day with the ghost spider. I felt very confident inside of 4 feet which has been an issue. Nice distance control. Not even a whiff of a 3 putt and everything outside a tap was sunk.

 

Dad played with Dt's ghost spider and basically didn't miss inside 8 feet. Couple of Heartbreakers in the match.

 

He chipped into a middle pin on 17 from the back fringe. Incredible shot. That goes down a slope right before the pin.

 

On 18, after my drive, I hit a nice 4w up the middle, maybe 220. Mom goes, "was that the shot of day?"

 

Ended up losing 2 bucks to dad. He made a ton of pars but had a few stinkers. 89.

 

Mom looked at the birds and flowers. Absolutely most beautiful day for golf this year.

Nice cap. I bet it felt great being out there with Dad. I'm also glad he beat you, because I like him just a little more. And I KNOW you didn't let him win.

He was seriously deadly with the spider. Holes 5 and 8,he hit the green but left himself like 8 footers for par after crappy lags. .. Drained both. Hole 1 he got above the hole, hit it 8 feet past and made it coming back.

 

13, he misses a drive, hit his second to 60 yards out, chunks his 3rd, sort of chunks his 4th on the front edge and then drains a 12 footer for bogey net par. Almost chipped in with hybrid on 16. Sick chip in on 17.

Was tied up all day cleaning out the garage at the old house and then shopping. Unfortunately wasn't able to get to the range to work on the takeaway. But tomorrow I have a little tournament with the group of guys I play in a league with. Hopefully it sticks and works out and I do well! Good luck on the course tomorrow, everyone!

BR is an example of a guy with money hoping to buy preference. You know why BR isn't located in a better area? The attitude of the owner. If he could play well with others, and work with people and zoning, it would be a huge success that was built in an area close to users. Instead he came in guns blaring telling everyone how great he and his course is and how he and the course were going to do everything for them and the locals laughed at him.

 

Look at Uplands that was trying to do an upscale spa and course in Denton. Or the "links" course that is 5 miles from QTown. Never heard of them? Because they are CLOSED.

 

When you go into the golf business there isn't a single person that will sorry for you. Don't complain about the neighbors or the taxes or your "treatment." Nobody wants to hear it in this day and age or economy.
