Love my SLDR, but found the DBD to add 10 yards of carry for me. The overall distance gain is about 10 yards. The SLDR had an Attas 3 in play and the DBD has the stock sliver Rouge in play.

Left the SLDR for an XR. Took me a while to get it dialed in. Ordered the XR with the White Tie, but had to fix swing weight. Thru a tip on my CS-1 from my SLDR, a tip weight and some hot melt to get it to D2. I hit it just as far as the SLDR, maybe carry it a little longer. The huge bonus is that I took the right side out of play on my misses. If I miss the XR, might hit a little fade, unlike the SLDR where it would be OB right.

Only thing I miss is the toe misses on the SLDR. Those would still produce a high draw with distance, the XR is short if I miss on the toe.

Went from an SLDR w/AD DI 6S and could not get a good driving day for the life of me. When I connected it was a bomber but could not connect consistently.
Tried an aero burner with a speeder 661 and bombed it on the first range session. I knew I wasn't strong with the driver, but the SLDR made me feel like a complete noob. The AB made pulling out the driver fun again.
The ho in me got an R15 to try out because I had too many good shafts with the SLDR tip on it.
To the guy that said the SLDR is like any other driver and people need lessons, I found this to be untrue. I'm a decent ball striker but the SLDR was so harsh every time I stood over it I felt completely out of control
There is an indisputable truth to the SLDR - it has the lowest MOI of any of the major OEM drivers released in recent memory. So low, in fact, that another website that tested MOI for all 2015 drivers had to redraw the graph just to include the low MOI numbers of the SLDR.

So that person claiming "you just need lessons" is a little off. It's a very unforgiving club when not struck on or immediately near the sweet spot. That said, it's also the longest/among the longest when struck in the sweet spot.

The SLDR is at one end of the forgiving/less spin extreme and the G30 is at the other. There are a whole slew of drivers in the middle of the pack and a few gems like the Fly Z+ and BBA DBD that are very similar to the SLDR in terms of spin but with improved MOI.

Those are my personal findings at least, and they appear to be backed up by most non-anecdotal reviews.

If you want a more forgiving SLDR, you now have the option to buy the 2015 SLDR C-Series 460 Driver. It's a completely different head and shape than the original SLDR 460 original or "S" and same goes for the smaller 430. The SLDR-C has a lower profile, with a face wider from heel-to-toe than the other SLDR Drivers you have seen. It also features a new SLDR color, (gloss black), which looks very classy on this head. Futhermore, you can "loft down" with this new "C" model. I went from playing a 12* SLDR Tour issue 430, (actual 11.3*), to a 9.5* loft with the SLDR-C. This is a CLASSIC BONDED driver with a nice solid feel...there are no loft adjustments, no sliders, and none are needed, for booming long straight drives. The stock "57" shaft may fit a wide range of players like TM says, but my personal preference is the outstanding Miyazaki Kusala Black 61s shaft which also happens to be a great cosmetic match for this clubhead.

So many people have wished for a more forgiving SLDR...Well folks...Here it is!

It drives me nuts that if I only knew how to tinker with swing weight and hotmelt etc, that I could actually dial in a driver perfect for me. How do you know how to do this stuff? I know nothing about swing weight.
Not a bad looking driver, I agree, but what (if any) fundamental difference is there between this SLDR C and the Jetspeed? Seems like if I were in the market for one of these I'd do better to get a Jetspeed for a third of the price without sacrificing loft adjustability.

For most people, that's likely a better choice. For others, its just another purchase that will eventually be set aside when the next greatest club shows up. Least it has no adjustments to worry about. :beach:

I quickly tallied up what people responded as replacing their SLDRs. I intentionally left out mini-drivers and older generation clubs. I think this gives a pretty good idea of what drivers folks are favoring.

Skip to 1:55 and check out DJ on Trackman in 2009.

325 carry and 363 total with R9 driver.
Club 124 mph, ball 181 mph, launch 10.2, spin 2322.

https://www.youtube....h?v=drGBB0J5yBY

AeroBurner stats from TV commercial:

347 total yards with AB driver.
Club 127 mph, ball 188 mph.

Swinging faster, ball faster, less distance. Bam. Faster always = longer?
Maybe he should go back and use the R9 instead of the AB?

I put an SLDR 10.5 with Black Tie 7M3 stiff vs a 915D3 8.5 with the Rogue 110 60 x to a head to head competition recently. Distance wise the SLDR was a couple yards longer and more accurate. I didn't find the 915D3 to be a very forgiving club. On the first shots I very slightly mishit the 915D3 and it was 20 yards behind a nutted SLDR. On a couple of holes the SLDR went 3-4 yards past my career spots. That's big for me. Over the last several years I can't find a driver that is magically 10 yards longer than the best drivers I've played over the years.

My 2 current gamers are a 7.5 913D2 with a 62x5ct S+ x flex and the SLDR.

Actually just started playing golf in the spring of last year at 44. (played a little as a kid but hurt my back in '88 and hadn't played since or as an adult) I started playing with an R11 9.5 stiff that I found in a second-hand store. Then my father handed me down a Ping Rapture V2 which I played with for a little while and liked. Then I got fit for a driver and settled on the SLDR stiff 10.5 (I know nothing about shafts). It never seemed to work for me, so I went back to the Rapture V2 in December and continued enjoying it. Anyway, last month I tried the R11 again and absolutely loved it. It's strange, I know it's less forgiving than the Rapture and a lot of other drivers out there, but I never seem to mishit it, and it goes much farther than the other drivers I've used. The distance and accuracy have taken at least a couple of strokes off of my game. I love that club!

Disappointing and at the same time intriguing that nobody is posting LM data.

I'm not saying the new club(s) aren't as long as folks advertise but I'm curious how launch conditions change with various clubs.

I'd love to know how you get 280+ carry at 155 ball speed. All of your numbers are almost identical to mine, but my carry is in the 255-260 range.

Edit - it must be the spin. I'm normally around 2000-2300.

I recently went to a SLDR 460. Last driver I would have thought would be a fit for me, and normally hate TM products. I have no idea why this driver works for me. I swing around 90 or less, but hit it high, so likely lots of spin.
I found I didn't have to loft up, playing it at 10.5 like every other driver. Don't find it unforgiving at all, and it's one of the best feeling and sounding drivers of the last several years.
I always thought I would benefit from a lower deeper COG, but the SLDR just changed all of that.

Just traded my SLDR and a pair of fairways for this bad boy, cut her down to 44.5" and shes been a bomber so far. I'm really liking the initial results, think I'm gonna add a touch of weight back to the head though after cutting her down. :)

Great feel in that club. I have one but hit it too high with too much spin, 565 shaft is pretty soft. Might try the DBD version, 9° with a heavier shaft.
