Titleist 915 D2. Gamed a R9 supertri for years before trying sldr and m1. With the D2, finally got that nice ball flight and forgiveness I missed from the r9 supertri.

G30 LS 9 with a BB g4t 73X. The forgiveness is unreal for such a low spinning head. Still have the SLDR as a backup though and who knows it may work its way back into the starting lineup at some point...

Lots of people have luck going to the G30LS and it's finally cheap enough to consider. I dunno why I just can't seem to hit the darn thing. Always ends up in last place for me because I end up hitting all over the face. Anyways, it's on the list.. again.

I bought R15 when introduced, to mess with but it went to the driver barrel in the garage. Still playing SLDR. Recently bought M1 in 10.5, but Its going back for a 9.5. Not sure it will replace SLDR either. Time will tell.

Managed to hit a couple of drivers with the time I had available today. The M1 460 10.5* (Rogue Silver 110 and Fuji Six) and G30LS 10.5 (Stock and Tour).

 

My thoughts on the M1:

• hmmm, looks weird to me at address
  
• eek, sounds awful
  
• wow, lower spin than expected
  
• oooh, higher launch than expected
  
• doh, too bad I'm hitting it all over the place
  

My thoughts on the G30LS:

• hmmm, as ugly as I remember
  
• eek, still sounds awful
  
• wow, spin not as low as I remember
  
• oooh, ball speeds are consistently good
  
• doh, still not the one, but better than I remember
  

For the G30 folks... tee it up high or low? Impact high on face or low? I had a shot or two that were good enough to challenge my SLDR 430. Ball speeds and launch angle were very consistent but spin rates were all over the place. Exact opposite of the 430, which seems to always produce good (very low) spin rates but ball speeds can fall off big-time on mishits.

 

G30 growing on me but I guess the search continues.

112-115 SS w/ -2 average AOA

 

SLDR still offers best combo of launch and spin for my swing. Also much easier to work the ball left or right when necessary.

Bought M1 460 based on similar distances and better dispersion on LM but could not take it to the course. Gave the M1 about 10-12 rounds and 5-6 experimental range sessions before switching back to SLDR.

M1 wanted to go straight or very slight cut but blocks and pulls were much more common for me vs SLDR which just released easier for me. Also, had a tough time turning the M1 over. Tried every shaft/weight setting imaginable.

 

Just one man's experience. Your results may vary... ;-)

Jetspeed 9.5 turned down to 8.5 was hitting sldr 430 and 460 in 10.5. Jet speed same distance and better control.

To the contrary, this thread is now all about how difficult it is to kick the SLDR out of the bag. Haters wanna hate but the SLDR flat out produces some incredible launch numbers.

I ditched the Tour 65 for a BB 73X and never looked back. The 65 just had no feel for me. I tee it a little lower than with the SLDR and that seems to work

SLDR -> G30 -> SLDR #2 -> M1.

 

M1 is giving me similar spin characteristics to my SLDR, but it really does carry farther. I'm seeing 5-7 yds more.

 

That being said, SLDR head is sitting in my golf room, just in case. I'll never sell it again after my failed G30 experiment.

I have desperately tried to get rid of the SLDR, for no particular reason other than deep seated TM hatred. However, here I stand with SLDR in hand. On top of that, I cannot even imagine a better 3 wood for my swing than the SLDR TS. So much so that I just purchased a 5 wood to replace my 2 hybrid. The M1 was the closest I could come, but then I realized I was going through a number of shafts to get a combo that was similar to what I already had.

 

I went SLDR --> 913D3 (3 weeks) --> SLDR --> Ping G30 (maybe 2 weeks) --> SLDR --> 915 D3 (maybe 4 rounds) --> SLDR -->M1 (2 weeks) --> SLDR

Went to the G30 from the SLDR last September. Have never looked back. G30 is a better all around driver and so much better on mishits. I'm just more confident with the G30, and i think that's half the difference.

I have a G25 which is approx 5 million times easier to hit than the sldr.

New to the SLDR. Got a 9.5 460 on eBay a month ago. Have gotten out 3 times so far this year & I really like the flight I get out of it. This season might finally replace the R7.

I'm a new SLDR user as well, tried a 430 way back when, found it long but unforgiving for me.
