Stay with your same color code

I have had communication from a Ping rep that works w colleges and developmental tours. I asked the blue vs black question. I have always been black dot. I asked if i have always been black dot will I be blue now.

He said stay w your same color code, or for me, stay w black.

Based on that communication and communication with local EW manager the blue will be the "stock" set sold in stores due to the frequency of blue dot requests and fittings.

Hope that helps. The confusion seems to be what is "standard". I don't know that there is a "standard" anymore except within each individual mfr. Gives more credence to a fitting to be sure.

I thought "Orange was the new Black" :) While I'm waiting I find myself having a hard time with the new price. Also because I am the guy that orders new wedges at the same time, I'd be getting the 54 and 58 Glides (which I demo'd on Saturday at Whistler -- awesome) I'm up north of $1200. AND because I'm literally up NORTH the strong USD$ will probably push these above $1,800 CAD$ after tax. Yup just checked golftown.ca (which strangely only has project x 6.0 as shaft option). Hmmm.

Stealth, TSR2, AP2's, and a JB Versa

I have 3 golftown at almost near me and theres is 1 employee in one of the 3 stores i go too if i really dont have a choice to use golftown to get my gear. I find that canadian golfer are really on their own when its time to get good service. Unless you schedule an appointment with a company's fitter.

The colors are the same. If you used to play standard length and black dot (that was black dot and 37.75"). Order black dot and -1/4" length in the new ones.
Why does that make sense? Ping i25 black dot 5-iron at 37.75" is 60.75...Ping iE1 black dot 5-iron at 37.75" is 60.00

I had a chance to hit the demo 7i tonight. They did a GREAT job from what I can see. Man they are the softest cast clubs I ever hit.

I hit moon balls with the Modus. Dynamic gold felt heavy. CFS was a nice balance between the two.
This is what I am afraid of. What is your swing speed approx? Did you try the XP 95 shaft?
I didn't hit the XP. I really wanted to like the Modus. Just for the fact that it is supposed to be "THE" shaft. It felt good, but I seriously hit a 7 iron the height of a sand wedge. The CFS was very consistent for me. Dispersion with the 7 iron was incredibly tight. I thought it was a good match for the head. I know the CFS is boring, but I am too the point that I just want to play with what works.

I was hitting them outside so I don't know what my 7 irons swing speed was. Driver is 97-100.

Just ordered. 4-W X100. Gave them serial number of last fitted set. They will match the old set for length and lie.
The new Ping i irons standard length is .25" longer than Ping's previous standard length. For example the 5 iron is now 38" compared to Ping's decade long standard of 37.75".
Current stock I specs are irrelevant when matching a previous set of pings.

It's quite simple. Give ping my current i25 serial number. They have specs saved. 1/4 inch short off of i25 standard. Red dot. Pw 35.25. 9i. 35.5. 8i 36. 7i 36.5. Etc.

So the new I's will be exactly identical to both length and lie of current i25's.

hit at pgass today. most of the changes aren't huge over i25, there are definitely a lot of spots where ping makes the club look thinner so if thats important to you, it's worth checking out. i like the new finish much better but that might be a sthg that's just personal preference. i'm not a fan of that light blue steak, but i will say its not a big deal when you see it in person vs the pictures. in hand, its just a small accent. lots of small changes overall which are generally in the right direction.

the one big difference tho is feel. it has a much, much softer feel than i25. i do like the new soft feel. so if that's your thing, in that regard, this new i series iron is a big change.

I looked at the s55 9iron and W against the i series last night at golftown. Not a huge difference FWIW....but I admit those S55's are dead sexy.
Not sure how you got to look at a pw? I work at a golf town, and we just got fitting cart heads. No set in sight!? Plus there is a note on the boxes when they come in not to display till July 30!? Someone is breaking the rules?! lol

Anyone watch Rick Sheils review of this set yet? Seems pretty high on them but he might want to get his GC2 a tune up. He pulls the living sh*t out of the first shot he hits and the numbers come back .6R for dispersion. I don't think so Rick....

sorry when I said i series I meant i25 on the shelf. If the i-e1 is even smaller it would support my case even more that the S55 PW appears quite similar (to me). YMMV

If you strengthened the lofts and added .25" to an I25 set, could anyone tell the difference between that and the IE1?

I hit them yesterday compared to S55 Never played Ping. I play mizuno MP4 which couldn't be more different and have to say it's a great club. Feel is much closer to what I am used to. And felt better than the s55.

Feel is closer to the AP2 than the i25

iE1 is much, much softer than i25. the rest of the updates are small changes from the i25, but there is a dramatic difference in feel.
