Kemau would you like to be our honorary thread starter for the Open Championship?

I know it has been a tough time for thread starters, but I think it would be a great pleasure for a lot of people on the WRX forum to enjoy a thread started by you for arguably the most important golf event of the season.

Would you like to be so kind and start the thread for all the people who genuinely appreciate your job? :)

I second this.

I fourth this. :)

And Kemau, I know you're reading this thread as a guest. If you do not come back immediately we will send a large group of WRX'ers to your house, where they will hog-tie you and drag you back in here, kicking and screaming. Then we'll strap you into a chair and make you read PutzLeft threads until you've seen the error of your ways. :)

Plagiarism doesn't require any studying. That's the point.

Perhaps no one in golf knows Tiger Woods better than Golf Channel analyst Notah Begay. He was the senior captain of the Stanford golf team when Woods was a freshman and the two remain close, as evidenced by the fact Begay spent a good bit of time in Jupiter Island following Woods’ nightmarish performance at the Farmers Insurance Open last February.
While it’s impossible to be optimistic about the state of Woods’ game heading to next week’s U.S. Open on the heels of his last-place finish at the Memorial last week that included a career-worst round of 85, Begay remains confident that the 14-time major winner can play his way out of his funk.
“I’m fairly certain he will win again, and I’m fairly certain he will win another major,” Begay said this week.
Begay called Woods’ short game “unbelievably bad” after the Farmers.
“I had some concerns because I’d never seen anybody overcome either mental or technical deficiencies that he was exhibiting in those rounds. Within two weeks of that he looked me dead in the eye and said, ‘I can fix this.’ I was like, ‘Well, I don’t believe you.’”
Of course, by the time Woods returned to the PGA Tour at the Masters, his chipping woes were fixed.
“And (that) led me to believe there’s a certain amount of genius in what Tiger Woods possesses as a player, that none of us, no matter how much we know about the game or how much personal experience we’ve had with the game will ever understand.”
Begay recalled that even after stunning the golf world by winning the Masters by 12 shots in 1997, Woods said there were parts of his game that he needed to improve.
“Then he goes all of ’98 without winning, and we could have easily said, ‘You’re crazy, you don’ t know what you’re doing, you need to go back to what was working for you in ’97.’ But then we started to see the changes take effect. In ’99 he won a couple more majors, and then we saw the wonderful years of 2000, ’01 and that whole stretch.”
When it was asked of Begay that perhaps Woods could use a mental coach right now, he replied he doesn’t think that’s a good idea.
“At this point the less people in the discussion the better,” he said. “He’s always been one of the most capable people I’ve ever met with regard to his approach to golf, and all the discussions I’ve had with him from a philosophical standpoint as far as what golf means to him, he’s always been wise beyond his years.
“He’s not feeling sorry for himself. He’s not pointing fingers. He’s just saying, look, this is part of the progression, and he knows that his bad golf is going to get magnified, and there’s going to be a tremendous amount of criticism around him, but I don’t think he would go out there (thinking) he was going to fly under the radar.”

At some point it ceases being about stamping out plagiarism and becomes "look at me stamping out plagiarism".
Fortunately, we haven't reached that point yet. And frankly I'm enjoying tournament threads that don't require me spending a minute scrolling through plagiarized text and countless pictures I have absolutely zero interest in looking at before I can actually discuss the tournament action...

Fearless deserter. I like that. A very fair description of kemau. A couple of posts questioning his plagiarism and instead of doing the right thing, which would have been easy enough (and still would have allowed him to serve as this sites "honorary thread starter") he threw his toys out of the pram and quit posting here. Good riddance.

Wow, reading this thread makes me realise how clueless I am of the inner workings of this site. I have never claimed to have my finger on the pulse, but I had no idea there was this sort of politics at play. Personally I have avoided reading the tournament threads cause of the inane amount of crap in the opening post (especially if I'm using my own data), so I never realised Keamu was responsible for starting them all.

Much like Playa, I feel completely lost. I never realized there was a problem. I only occasionally looked at the tournament threads, usually to find TV listings, because they were pretty long. But I certainly didn't know there were things causing issues. I guess I should have read them a little more closely.

Mad,
I don't see the fervor regarding what Kemau did. It was not for monetary gain, not for a grade, not even to pick up chicks (at least, I assume it wouldn't help him pick up chicks). I don't think anybody believed that what he posted was original material. The mods didn't have a problem. The original publishers didn't have a problem. To point out, "Ya know, somebody might not like this" would have seemed more appropriate for the situation rather than leveling charges of plagiarism. The crusade against Kemau seemed unwarranted... unless it helps to pick up chicks.
