Does anyone else think the announcers are trying a little too hard to pump Olympic golf, and trying to create excitement that is just not really there?

Would you prefer they try to make the event less exciting?

At times the announcers are just over-doing it - trying way too hard to convince their viewing audience that (1) the golf course is better than it really is, (2) that the golf being played is better than it really is, and (3) that playing in the Olympics is the most important event in these player's lifetime (which is what was claimed that Justin Rose said).

It's pathetic. I watched a few minutes but have switched over to watch some of the events that matter (to quote Rory).

Agree with those who don't like the format, but what else can they do? Some countries don't have enough quality players to make a three or four man team. I'd like to hear ideas on this subject.

Limit the field to 54 players with no more than two players from a respective country and shotgun start them all so that all players are on the course at the same time playing the same conditions....this is the olympics, not a major.

It will be interesting to see what this course looks like in a few years. It wouldn't be shocking if it fell into a dilapidated state, like most other Olympic venues, since it will be public after these games are finished.

Sadly, this will probably be the case. The divide between the haves and the have nots is the Grand Canyon. I don't think they'll be enough rounds to support it.

I like it. What if they did that just for Thursday, with the top 8 moving on to match play Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for the gold and bronze medal games?

After all the good or bad.

The course looks great.

and golf is still just golf on tv

Can't wait for track and field :taunt:

Best thing I've seen was the very Olympic story on Ben Ahn's family.

Everything else feels like, well John Deere...Gues I was hoping tv would come up with something exciting

you missed the naked women wrangling flamingo's on the golf course......

apologies if I've missed it already but who is caddying for Bubba? doesn't look like Teddy

apparently teddy stayed home for 'family reasons'

caddy is the guy who manages bubba's finances, according to the guys on golf channel

The problem is that you've got three days of no drama. In other events, you've got preliminary heats where even the best in the world can have a misstep and be out. Michael Phelps still has to safely negotiate the heats and avoid disaster.

You could do any number of things, pool play followed by match play, a daily cut so that you've got the drama at the bottom each day followed by a four man shoot out at the end, a team element.

Personally, I find the course pretty unremarkable. There's not enough visual interest to look good on television. That might not seem important to people like us, but if the point is to grow the game, it ought to look like something you'd want to go try.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
