I got the M1 in December. My problem is I can't find a shaft to suit me.

Kuro kage 60 S Far too whippy

Diamana 60 S+ didn't like that either.

Aldia Rogue Silver 60 Stiff. Feels too stiff for me. I'm just not getting the distance I usually do. Think it's because it has a stiff tip.

I'm just looking for a normal stiff shaft with a normal tip. Over the yrs I've just been using the normal stiff stock shafts taylormade have put in their drivers

Could anyone please suggest a shaft I should try?

Try the White Tie which is a TM stock offering. I had the same problem as you and changed to the White Tie and WOW,,what a difference. Easily 15 yds longer than anything else I've tried.

The White Tie in Stiff will probably be soft compared to the Kuro. Just get the Kuro in an X, should work fine. The White Tie in an X might work also. Aldila Tour Blue in X has a nice feel.

Has anyone tipped there's? If you look in most of the what's in the bag on tour guys use 44.75 or so shafts. If you just put a normal shaft in this its 45.5. Anyone thought of tipping it to get more control and stiffen the shaft a little?

Standard tipping from Taylormade is 1 inch unless you ask them to do otherwise. I think Titleist tips .5. I was surprised when I heard this. Trimming the butt end to make it 44.5 (tour avg length?) won't make the shaft much stiffer. Doing so does lower swing weight....see pinned post in club techs for swing weight recs.

Really think that this thread is a waste because there is far too much information posted about it. Coming from someone who has owned 4 different TM drivers in the last 7 years, and am selective about the ones that I buy message me if you want to know more about the M1 if you want specifics but I am a huge fan of it. I will say out of the R9Tp, R11Tp, R1Tp it is the only driver that I can feel the weights and adjustments in when you make them. I felt them instantly. Personally the head is electric as well. Has a great feeling if you want to know more just PM me. Also for you northerns thinking about getting one, almost all of the guys my age down in Florida have made the switch to it because of how good it is so don't be afraid to do it.
this is Golfwrx. Other than the whining about Taylormade marketing cycles, I've appreciated a lot of the detail. There are so many shafts and not everyone has the money to try them all our an adequate fitter nearby ; )

Find a TaylorMade demo day. The Techs are usually very good and have a million shafts to try on Flightscope.

I'm going for a driver fitting Friday, I have the M1 & M2 in the mix. Really like how they feel, haven't hit them outside, so Friday will be the first time. Will there be a difference in sound/feel between these drivers?

Does anyone know what happens if you take the weights out of the M1?

Swingweight will drop significantly. If you're playing the standard 45.5 inches, it'll drop from D4 to C6 or C7. It won't damage the club. Bryson Dechambeau did that to his Cobra F6+ and his Driver plays at B9.

so basically there is no CoG with the weights removed? could be a funky driver..with no internal weighting...

How do you think it would fly? I feel like the ball would come off the face dead for some reason.

I'd guess it'd move higher in the face? Not entirely sure though. Also, I miscalculated, in only accounting for removing 1 sliding weight. The SW would prob be closer to C3 or C4

Physics states that in a vacuum, ball speed should go down. F=MV (Force = Mass x Velocity), by massively decreasing the mass of the head, you have less heft/force towards compressing the ball. The only benefit is if you're not strong enough to swing a D3 or D4 club. But once you go below D0/C10 it can become very hard to feel the head, leading to lots of dispersion and you may not properly flex the shaft, unless it's a Regular or A/Sr Flex.

Old school drivers still had internal weighting. Often it was Tungsten or Lead epoxied. The only persimmons had heavy brass plates and the face screws also added weight. The biggest change is the massive adjustability. With Titanium and Graphite, it's possible to get swingweights that are heavy, with low overall club weight, thus the massive increase in the number of golfers with 100 MPH+ SS. Tour speeds used to be 100-105. Now the top tour pros are swinging 120-127 MPH, thus the increased tour avg from 270 in the late 90s to 290+ now.

it's only a small chamber so vacuum won't be noticeable..besides the weights do not reduce the size of the internal chamber where the vacuum happens.

I was using the vacuum example (space) to not have to account for things like Wind Resistance etc. The internal chamber being a vacuum has no bearing on the force you can impart. The important point is the one about Mass being 50% of the how Force is generated.

Each time I hit the 430 head it feels better and better. Probably the longest of any driver head I have hit this year bar none. Trying to fight the urge...

Just do it! You won't regret it I promise. Its hard to miss with, and the face is electric!

I just emailed DDs for a price. Here we go again...

Try Aldila Rogue Black 60, might fit the bill

I got the M1 in December. My problem is I can't find a shaft to suit me.

Aldia Rogue Silver 60 Stiff. Feels too stiff for me. I'm just not getting the distance I usually do. Think it's because it has a stiff tip.

This club still surprises me how good it is. So I hit it yesterday for the first time not being into a serious wind, of upwards of 25mph and it was the first time two weeks swinging it. Could not miss. Was flying drives through a 290 range into wind. And was literally swinging as hard as I could and felt like I had a ton of control. For someone who was thinking of getting the Callaway DBD I'm glad I got this instead.

I haven't read through this thread, it's far too long, but I'm considering giving the M1 a serious go.

I was fitted by TM over here about 2.5 years ago for my SLDR which is supposed to be a much less forgiving driver head than most on the market, although I beg to differ, however, I was matched to a slightly cut down Black Tie 7M3 stiff shaft and loved it, since the New Year I've had a full length stiff 6M3 shaft in and I'm driving better than I ever have and with a large degree of consistency, so why would I want to try the M1, well if it is a little or a lot more forgiving than my SLDR, then it has to be worth a punt, doesn't it?
