She did play well today but compared to other players still not great. She has a long road ahead of her.

Well she rallied. That's positive. But yes, she has some work to do.

I found it best served with a French Burgundy such as a 1996 Domaine Leroy Latricieres-Chambertin Grand Cru, Cote de Nuits.

Personally, I prefer it with the mineral laced, earthy taste of a 1982 or '89 Graves, such as Haut Brion or La Mission Haut Brion. Of course, they are on the left side of the Gironde river.

For the most part women's sports have very little popularity because as I've stated they're just simply not sport at its highest level. The women's sports that do get some popularity generally coincide with the level of attractiveness of the girls playing them.

That is so male-centric. Look at data on computer games - male players are all about winning. Female players are more about the experience, the interaction, the human qualities.

I frankly don't get much out of the testosterone-drenched intense competition of the male sports. Just not very attractive in human terms.

And as a guy over 60 and a very average golfer, I can relate far better to the kind of shots the LPGA players play. And as a guy over 60 I think they ALL look nice! The LPGA tour is just so much more attractive to watch.

And I don't want to watch swimsuit models. I want to watch golfers, for heaven's sake - top Rolex Rankings players. Women who can really play.

"Hot" for me is draining a 40ft putt, holing out with a perfect wedge shot from off the green, or out of a bunker. Or coming down the stretch one shot ahead and winning with a clutch putt in front of three tied for second place. That's serious "hot". That's where the real thrill is.

Why is this girl blowing up? Is there something I missed? The game really isn't worth all of this hype...

Pretty similar to the majority of girls on BB...they can't play competitive golf...only problem for her is she can't compete with the female pros and there is no more BB

seriously? You can't see why she's popular!?!?

There's always the argument whether film or media stars are a phenomenon of production or a phenomenon of consumption. Are they made for us, or do we make them? It's often a case of both. Here, we have the need for some "hot women in golf" to make up "hot lists". That's a phenomenon of production - the media looks round for some pretty faces and some nice thin bodies, with big t**** if it's in the USA, and they elevate whoever comes closest. They're essentially modelling for photographs, so mostly personality doesn't come into it. There are some media presenters on the "hot list" who can talk, and the occasional top professional like Michelle Wie. But mostly it's looks and availability for modelling assignments. Not Wie's thing - Rolex Ranked players are not going to compromise their professional status with a lot of swimsuit modelling. Natalie Gulbis did it, but it just looked tacky.

The real world Paige Spiranec doesn't seem to have much to say. She does a lot of giggling in a monumentally awful video where she gets patronised by the equally awful Mark Crossfield. Worth watching if you've just eaten something you need to bring up again......

Sex sells and that's the bottom line. Do I think it's fare to other girls out there grinding it out on the tour who are vastly superior in talent than her, no it's not, but all Golf Digest cares about is selling magazines.

If she was smart, rather than chase the dream to play on the LPGA, she should pursue a career on Golf Channel. I'm sure she could do Playing Lessons or some other fluff piece on that channel. Her "talent" seems more fitted for that than playing on tour. She would at least be somewhat credible too since she played at the Div. I level.

She is not totally incompetent but imo is a long way from the real tour .

I think I saw somewhere that Paige had put together a few decent rounds in her last tourney. Think I also saw where she was doing an Open qualifier tomorrow so we can see how that goes.

She played in one a week or two back in Scottsdale, shot 81, 81 for T46. The 1st qualifier shot 71, 72.

I think it was the one this week. I guess they play Monday - Wednesday shot 74-72-69 and tied for third. At least that is what she had on Twitter. Anyway still a ways from the big girls but I guess it's a start and she is trying.

Pretty much like any aspiring pro. She's got to pay her dues, just like anyone else. I think she's finding that out. Looks can only get you so far.

Hey-now all those that dislike Michelle Wie will have someone to cheer for. She is doing it the right way and "learning how to win" :)

http://thecactustour...t16/Stroke.html

PS-just looking at it the amateur gave her the win at the finish. Doubled 16 and bogeyed 18.

It happens on every tour. No reason to downplay her accomplishment.

Well done. She even had a sense of humor: #canactuallybreak80

Didn't mean to diminish her win. Good luck to her, she has a long way to go.

I know you didn't mean it that way. Probably just came out wrong. But she really does have a long way to go.
